New thread, new doom. That's how it's done. Now we just need Id/Bethesda to announce singleplayer DLC for doom 4
iirc the season pass is only mp content, which sucks. if only bethesda was as passionate for doom as they are for fallout/tes.
the final setpiece in Kadingir Sanctum is ridiculous, the fucking barons steamroll me while im trying to fuck up the mancubus
Gauss Cannon Siege Mode and some strategic usage of pillars to create a chokepoint for movement was what helped me deal with the bastards.
What is this thing? [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/275095970469725227/0D5F238BEAC0587EF770402225B7F5B116FBEB28/[/t]
iirc the season pass is only mp content, which sucks. if only bethesda was as passionate for doom as they are for fallout/tes.
That doesn't rule out a standalone expansion along the lines of the Old Blood, though. And Bethesda has added to a season pass before. Edit: Though if they did add to the season pass, I'd probably still only buy the single player content anyway. Multiplayer's fun and all but it's not 40 dollars of map packs fun.
I'm hoping they are gonna pull an old blood with the expansion then, maybe sell a standalone SP/coop one for Doom 4, and provide those free updates to snapmap and listen to the community and I'll be happy. I really want an Old Blood/Resurrection of Evil style expansion. I just finished the game a second time, and I don't want to repeat the levels again just yet, but I want to continue playing.
I wonder, we have that DOOM Extractor thing, but i'm genuinely curious as to whether the RAGE tools could handle porting/extracting DOOM stuff, among other things. I get that they're different engine iterations, but still.

so has anyone given a tought to: hideous destructor in doom 4
If you're at all interested in the history of id, I recommend checking out the book Masters of Doom. It's a really fun to read biography. Everything it's covered so far has been really intriguing, particularly Romero's shenanigans and his stark contrast with Carmack.
So I was editing the Level 2 video and decided to look at the first video I ever uploaded to the internet again for old times sake. Uploaded October 9th, 2007. I was 12 years old when I made this video. Despite how fucking horrible it is, I like to keep this video as a reminder of how far I've come, what I've learned and accomplished, [sp]and how many demons I've killed[/sp]. Cheers you guys!
I really wish there were more difficulty modes to pick from. I want to go up from Ultra Violence, but I don't want to play Nightmare. A NG+ mode with remixed enemy encounters would be incredible.
I would give nightmare a shot, it's hard but I've never felt like a death was cheap or anything and I'm (pretty sure) I'm almost done with the game. Honestly I can't even imagine dropping the difficulty, it's the first time in a while I felt like the harder difficulty wasn't just bullshit changes.

It's one of the few I've seen that actually looks like a level, instead of just a series of stairs/hallways or large rooms.
I tried to make one of those new fangled Snapmaps. Elevator Repair Man! 2GAEAVGR
Anyone know how to get the locked armor parts in snapmap? Not talking about purchasing parts, talking about the ones with the lock icon over them. I want the red light color and metallic black armor color. Tried looking it up and found nothing.
Nice map! I just hope id continuously supports it, a hell tileset would go a long way for it.
You know, we've talked about how Doom 4 lacks modding tools a lot and all, but it still burns my ass. Bethesda releases the Fallout 4 Creation Kit and will have their own system for mod support for Xbox One and Playstation 4. Doom, a game that's legendary alongside Quake for helping coin the entire modding scene for games in the first place, gets its IdStudio tools held with no signs of release and a stiff "hey why mod when you have SNAPMAP".
I think I should hold off on playing more until they fix the random crashes. I'm not getting any more long load times, but the crashes are happening more frequently.

Because the games are successively the on the same cheesy Gamebyro engine with new features. If you can make a simple mod in Morrowind, you can sure as hell do it in Skyrim and likely even Fallout 4. Doom 4 on the other hand has it's closest brother being RAGE, of which an official CDK did finally get released and was so convoluted that a grand total of zero actual mods. (If you discount a rebalance attempt.) Doom 3 and Quake 4 had a much better showing, by comparison, and are also comparatively on an older version of idTech.

But then the old engines were practically designed to be relatively modular and easy to alter. It's like once Carmack stopped giving a shit about direct factors for IdTech and the rest of the modernized Id took over the non-experimental work, they dropped the modularity altogether.
I think the turn for the worse was probably when RAGE was in development still and Carmack was talking about how consoles were the market to focus on. I remember reading an in depth interview from him (at the time i think on filefront lol) and it got me mad.
Performance is very random, sometimes I can run smooth as butter, and sometimes it just slows down everything while still pushing 40fps, and then there are these .5 second frame stops that is deadly. Restarting the game always has a different performance.
can't play the new doom bc too expensive, but i could use a bunch of agitated skeletons
Wasn't there something called IdStudio that was shown off at some point? Heck, it might be the proper mod tools we want, but they're probably withholding them on purpose till the hype dies down a bit on consoles. I mean, if they gave PC proper, good modding tools at the same time SnapMap is out, everybody would just go apeshit, whining about why PC gets all the good tools. [sp]you know, like that one dumbass that was genuinely upset that the WiiU version of SSB4 has more content than the 3DS one.[/sp]
Having reached level 30 in multiplayer and played quite a few hours of the open beta, I gotta say, it's pretty damn fun. I'm steadily getting more and more into it though I will admit that I don't know how long it has considering the relative lack of weapons and maps. My biggest complaints are the demon runes and weapon balancing. Demon runes are cool and work in TDM and maybe Domination but feel entirely awkward in Warzone and I hate the Kill Confirmed mode for how demons work. Demons just aren't very satisfying to play as or play against and I felt like they should have been more rare. In regards to weapon balance I feel like there are two tiers of weapons, the really good tier and the okay tier. I see a lot of complaints about the chaingun but I don't find it particularly more effective than the SSG or Vortex. Certainly easier to use but those weapons absolutely demolish it if you land accurate shots and my strategy for chaingun users is to simply backpedal away while their accuracy goes to shit. Then theres the tier of weapons like the static rifle, burst rifle, and hellshot that aren't bad, I just can't figure out how to use them successfully or more successfully than the other weapons. It's really hard to come up with a loadout that doesn't involve the chaingun/combat rifle/SSG/Vortex rifle because any combination of long range and short range typically wins fights.
An enemy and I were across from each other and running to grab the supercharge powerup that's over an open hallway in that one Hell map. I lost. I think that if everyone just spawned with the same basic weapon and could go around to find other weapons, there would be more interesting things happening.
Is Quake on steam a viable choice to try it? I feel guilty that I skipped such an iconic shooter back in the day and I really want to catch up. I really love this gothic/sci-fi setting.
