Anyone else find Pinky cute in Doom 4? I feel bad killing em.
I do kinda feel bad for killing them sometimes cause it feels less like I'm killing a demon and more like I'm just killing some angry animal.
The Nailgun sounds like something that'd be a DLC weapon, honestly.
What if the nailgun is released in the last DLC coinciding with a Quake announcement... Guaranteed not but I can dream. I feel like the SP of Quake was actually pretty forgettable, nobody seems to talk about Quake as much as Doom or HL as being revolutionary for the genre.

pinkies were honestly not a big deal in my nightmare run. lost souls/mancubi/and floating fat fuckers were worse because they snipe the shit out of you from across the map.

But as an actual campaign, beyond the atmosphere, designs and such, the actual level design isn't really all that memorable for me outside of specific circumstances. I can see its innovations and unique factors, but it feels less 'solidly designed' than Quake 2. But then I'll fully admit Quake 2 is a bit of a bore since it never really significantly switches up its visual style except once or twice.
The writing is actual pretty funny tbh. It's somewhere between Fallout and Portal. Most of the time it's delightfully over the top, but sometimes it's pretty subtle. [t]https://i.imgur.com/5tSUGzw.jpg[/t]
Agreed, but i'm missing the funny in this, someone point it out please.
Agreed, but i'm missing the funny in this, someone point it out please.
A locked elevator isn't exactly a "welcome" sight.
A locked elevator isn't exactly a "welcome" sight.
I mean, it says that regardless if the elevator is locked or unlocked. That's not intentionally funny. Infact I don't find it funny at all.
Good for you, unintentional humor is still humor. and if anything it was most likely intended just like "Demonic invasion in progress, please stand by" and reminders to see if you qualify for the yearly soul harvesting.
Agreed, but i'm missing the funny in this, someone point it out please.
It's poking fun at how elevators never seem to work properly in science fiction media, especially when shit is going down. Don't know how you managed to avoid the "elevator is coming down slowly for no reason, fight them off until it arrives!" sequence in many games, but I envy you.

The elevator isn't coming down slowly for no reason, when games do that their loading the next section of the level, but in doom it's because the area isn't clear. It's not poking fun at anything. What's with the sarcasm?
I love the design of the mobile turret but I can't even fathom what it looks like from another perspective. How does doomguy hold it?
Quake had a much further impact than doom did
Mmm... I think its closer to 50/50.
Doom made more of an impact on design philosophy, Quake had more of an impact technically. Both equally as massive in their own ways.

I'll be honest, I was kind of bored for the first section on Mars, but I'm quite enjoying myself in the demon world now, but now I'm hitting all the fabled crashes I kept hearing about. I can't really progress anymore :C It's in the arena after you [sp]are we spoiling... chaingun[/sp]
What's everyone favorite new demon design? Mines the Cacodemon. Something about its modern design just screams perfection. If I had to pick a number two it would be the [sp]cyberdemon[/sp]
Yeah, the cacodemon is horrifying now. I really like it.
I hate flying enemies so I just blast them with siege mode the instant they show up
I just miss the hissing and cackling. I would have loved it if they designed the sounds of the emenies to be reminiscent of their original equivalents, so far the only remote similarity I heard is the Mancubus gibbing. [editline]23rd May 2016[/editline] Most enemies just sound like generic grunts to me. Except lost souls wnd the summoner, which just shriek and shriek and shriek some more.
butthurter posting butts from a game about hurting how appropriate
I hate flying enemies so I just blast them with siege mode the instant they show up
Siege mode is better than even the BFG in a lot of instances. For the second half of the game is became my close personal friend. [editline]23rd May 2016[/editline]
butthurter posting butts from a game about hurting how appropriate
The notion of him ripping and tearing someone's ass is a bit alarming.
Does anyone know when Vulkan support is being added? I can't find anything other than "soon".
[t]http://i.imgur.com/B2yNbWG.png[/t] Scoreboard looks like this almost every game. Why they gave the highest DPS to a hitscan weapon is beyond me, it's like Certain Affinity really is full of idiots. Any fun to be had in the MP is ruined by terrible balance, it is kinda sad.
