Yeah, it's not as if movies with very minimal dialogue from the protagonist haven't worked out really well in the past
Yeah, that's what I was concerned about. You can't really have a movie without much dialogue (most of the time, at least).
I imagine a new Doom movie could be sort of a "mockumentary" style mini-anthology of the Doom Slayer's rampage, with accounts told by various demons (and mortals) being used to break up the brutal massacre of demons and high-adrenaline action. It'd culminate with the demonic forces [sp]finally sealing him away in that sarcophagus[/sp], as one of the old veteran demons finishes their story, only for the Doom Slayer to show up and HWAM!, go all Brock-ness Monster on them. The lone surviving demon tries to take him down, only for the Doom Slayer to grab it by the throat (all of this in first-person), raise it up, and punch its lights out a fraction of a second before the credits roll.
It'd be sort of like a slasher story interspersed with a connecting "campfire story" between all the murder and mayhem, told from the perspective of the demons with almost a running commentary going on during some of the many MANY fight scenes. That'd be how you do it without relying on Doomguy having a team with him all the time, but still have at least some conversation. In a way, it could probably be like Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, with potential for unreliable narrators and conflicting accounts to add some mid-fight changes to some of the scenes.
Just have Tom Hardy play Doomguy, have him follow his Max Persona and speak ANGRISH.

Haha no I wasn't being sarcastic, I genuinely do think movies with very little dialogue from the protagonist can work pretty well.
The way the game did it would translate really well into film. All of the Doom guy's scenes would be actions-louder-than-words, and every so often it could cut to a supporting character monitoring his progress (in the games this was hayden and vega) and providing exposition.

Also I'm pretty pissed off that you can't use the elite guard armor in multiplayer, It has a really nice design for something that only shows up on dead guys.
Honestly, they should just listen to the fans and add classic deathmatch to the multiplayer as a gamemode (and nerf the minigun), that would probably stop the major complaints (saying major because actual complaints about the game will never stop since it's not a copy paste of ultimate doom)
If they nerf the minigun I guarantee you the next gun people will complain about is the combat shotgun.
If they nerf the minigun I guarantee you the next gun people will complain about is the combat shotgun.
theres a difference. to be good with the combat shotgun, you need to he able to aim and time shots correctly. minigun is literally hold M1 down and look in the 25% of your screen to kill something.
Haydens voice man.
Cool as fuck.
I like the part when he laughs after VEGA tells you where the only Argent energy cell is.

I'm not sayin the minigun is maybe too easy for how effective it is, just that combat shotguns are getting more and more popular because they are super versatile.

but they still suck at long range and the SSG still dominates close range. i personally run the kinetic rifle and SSG since its the best of both worlds.
The Doom movie was great guys, that's the only one we ever need.
Are you serious? I watched that movie when i was 10 (when everything is cool) and it still made me cringe almost consecutively through the whole movie
[editline]23rd May 2016[/editline]
Also I think the lightning gun is decent in MP as long as you can hit with it and keep out of long range engagement
In Doom 1/2 they lasted for rest of the stage.
Depending on what map you are running, it can range from "a very brief coffee break" to "full afternoon bloodshed".
Actually it lasts 20 seconds

I was taking the piss but I clearly need to use Italics for people to get that.

You should try using the combat shotty more because after using it a lot I find the SSG unbearably bad. You sacrifice slightly less burst for much more consistent damage that isn't focused all in one shot. 4 of my 5 classes have combat shotgun and the 5th is SSG/combat.
Actually it lasts 20 seconds
Uh, no?
The effects last for the rest of the level.

CONFUCAMUS!
Actually it lasts 20 seconds
Doom 1 and 2, Berserk lasts the whole level, the screen FX fades, but the damage boost doesn't.

trust me, i use it all the time, but the ssg is used as a finisher and its perfect at that.
Slight spoiler warning, actual episode starts at 1:38.

Not to mention that other Caco-Cola photoshop that was going around for a while, and eventually became a billboard in Reelism.
I finally understand the ending to Doom.
[sp]Hayden sent Doomguy to the Wolfenstein timeline so that he can team up with BJ against the Nazis, who have summoned demons to defeat the resistance.
I just want my dumb crossover game damn it.[/sp]
Honestly, some of the classic Doom maps really lend themselves to the limited monster count of Snapmap, but some are just too open for it and Doom 2 especially gets monster-heavy, both of which are impractical if not impossible to recreate.
[sp]If the Cyberdemon or Spider Mastermind ever get genuinely added to Snapmap, i'm expecting a Towel of Babel and/or Dis.[/sp]

Please continue, you're making the only real maps I've seen so far. What sort of gameplay do you allow in them, Doom 4 style, or something closer to classic Doom?
I want to play DOOM so bad but thanks to windows 10 steam decided my computer needs to be re-authed for family sharing aaargh

My E1M1 had pretty much classic doom preplaced monsters but with health drops for kills. I haven't decided on whether ima keep that or just go straight up no drops yet for entryway
EDIT:
I just had to do it

how the fuck
Back when the game came out I spent over 20 hours just making this super detailed and awesome map, and then I lost my interest once I discovered how small the limit is, and now I have to cut my level small and it's really saddening.
