What are your favorite doom mappers, Facepunch?

I thought it was Ultron.
Whoever thought matchmaking for SnapMap was a good idea needs to be taken out back Old Yeller style.
Fucking seriously though. There's such a wide variety of maps for each category, so even when you whittle it down to just wanting to play Deathmatch, you're going to scroll through a shitload of mediocre maps, find one that looks good, and then try to either host or find a lobby.
The issue is that the chances of someone else trying to find a game in that exact same map is slim to fucking none. I usually don't get too pissy over Matchmaking, as long as there's an alternative server browser, but dear lord, this is one of those cases where Matchmaking just doesn't work in the slightest.
The only MP I've gotten to experience in SnapMap are the pre-selected playlists of DM levels, and those are getting boring.
I want to play some of the fucking crazy maps with other people.
Technically, he is Ultron.
I uploaded my map to the DOOM Subreddit and this is one of the only responses it's gotten.

What in the fuck.
Did someone actually just downvote my map because SnapMap itself was built with consoles in mind?

A nice example of retarded anti-console elitist
I legit want them to reboot the doom movie but have a doom guy who is as well written as he is in the game, but base it off the comics
have him go from a relatively mundane marine to a literal murder machine who finds pleasure in killing endless hordes of demons
also have an hour long fight sequence.
[editline]23rd May 2016[/editline]
in fact, just make the movie 5 hours of a guy ripping and tearing
[editline]23rd May 2016[/editline]
also, screaming for 5 hours
My Doom movie script is conceptually really similar to Dredd and The Raid. It's a looking glass character tagging alongside someone who's implied to be Doomguy. Basically the central character would be the lil marine running towards Doomguy in the original game's cover art.
It'd be a sparse story that only exists as a vehicle to perpetuate intricate action scenes punctuated with nice little character moments. 90 minutes. I could totally do it on my own, someone give me a RED Epic and like 20 Million dollars. Maybe even less. It's not a hard thing to imagine, a good Doom movie. It's just something that'd be one of those small-scope-huge-reach things that seem to illude even the most creatively liberal of studios out there. It's frustrating.
sadly, big studios pander to the sheep with big spectacle because that's what gets sales

Its not elitist if its actually true tho :v:

So you'd just shit on everyone's snap maps because of the "console peasants" bandwagon too?
I really want to play some challenging and decent singeplayer Snapmaps but most of the maps are either to easy or extremely uncreative. I wonder why they're even popular or highly rated.

Well it doesn't help with those....

Holy moly, this is a first for me

And I don't normally even give a shit about achivements.
What are some good reliable websites to get steam keys cheaper? $60 for Doom 4 seems like a lot for a game where I know I won't be touching the multiplayer that much. And knowing Bethesda the price won't drop for a while like Wolfenstein.

I'm saving running the first mission on ultra-nightmare for my last

Aww man, I didn't even think of doing that. I just did the MP stuff last because I don't really have much interest in it.
This is pretty cool, didn't realize infighting was possible to this extent

How do you fire your super shotgun one barrel at a time?

Last upgrade you get for the gun.
How do you fire your super shotgun one barrel at a time?
You need to unlock the mastery for it.
[editline]Edit:[/editline]
Damn, I thought I was fast enough
I like the thought that the demons are terrified of Doomguy after he's killed so many of them for so long, but they still hate each other enough that infighting still happens when he's standing right there.
Who thought it was a good idea to put in an achievement for uploading a Snapmap creation?

By racking up 30 instances of killing multiple enemies with a shot.
Multiple enemies being 2 or more, the earlier levels with the Possessed is where it's easy to farm that shit, it's what I did when I went back through the earlier levels to collect stuff.
I just played through the first episode of doom co-op with my brother with 10 times the enemies :v:
Who thought it was a good idea to put in an achievement for uploading a Snapmap creation?
This is my biggest problem with the recent maps list. I was hoping to find some interesting new shit, but instead you get "DON'T PLAY THIS I MADE THIS FOR A TROPHY" over and over
For the achievement I actually went and made a deathmatch map, not a throwaway map with 1 room and nothing in it. It's called DM_Complex, for those who are interested.
So I haven't beaten Doom 4 yet, but after playing it it's made working on Dance Of Death really underwhelming for me for some reason. I'm not sure why but I feel like I wanna work on something with entirely different pacing.
So that's what I'm doing :downs:

The idea is that it's a minimalist stealth game - and by minimalist I mean 'some movement and a few tools are all you have' - And you have to sneak into these un-populated but heavily secured bases to do... Something. Not sure yet. :v:
I borrowed a lot of code I wrote for DOD for this (Movement, doors, trains etc), and so far things are really cool. My main idea is that there are no guards, but each room's security devices will close the doors and activate a trap when alerted. You'll have a short amount of time to find out whats going on and finding a safe area where you wont get hurt until everything goes back to normal.
You cant fully disable any kind of security device, either; you have to decide between limiting it in a certain way over another. I.e. Do you want to reduce this cameras range, or do you want to lock its turning?
The mist thing is for finding invisible alert lasers, which will stay visible for a short amount of time after spraying. And my design philosophy for the traps is basically "GOD IS PISSED AT YOUR FAILURE". Like, really over-the-top stuff, when applicable.
I'm not abandoning DOD completely, but this project is my main focus now. Not even sure if it counts as retro, but I wanted to let you guys know what was going on
I went to my local Wawa, and for some reason one of those double sided DOOM Gamestop posters was on the ground like, ten feet from the front of the building, all crumpled up.
I don't know why the fuck it was there, but if it didn't look like it had been run over a million times I would've taken it.
This is pretty cool, didn't realize infighting was possible to this extent
90% of the infighting I've seen has been between Hell Knights and Revenants for some reason.
I kinda wish demons could glory kill eachother.
