My biggest complaint about multiplayer is how locked down everything is. You can't even select which map you want to play on. For a studio that previously worked on Halo 2, I'd expect the same level of gamemode customization. But there's absolutely none.
Also, why exactly is everything team-based? It's a little disheartening that a DOOM game lacks classic free-for-all deathmatch.
They've said before "Just use snapmap if you want to customize a gamemode!", but the 4-player limit nullifies that for me.

Is this a picture of Doom 4's multiplayer?
Buy it on steam, then use a source port is what I did. I prefer Darkplaces.
Thanks, bought it. I really need to take a break from Doom. It's too damn good.

That's what I was thinking, what the hell's the point of a great armor customization system if nobody will ever see what colors you use ingame except for the pre-game and post-game screens?
A Quick Doom 4 lore question
[sp] Who actually were the Sentinels? Were they in Hell before Doomguy or was their world invaded after Doomguy decided to stay and Doomguy just bro'd up with them? [/sp]
I've updated my SnapMap remake of ORIGWAD.PWD significantly since the video I recorded of it shown in the previous thread, mainly to get that door in the center to open by standing in front of it and pressing the use key instead of having to use a switch(which was a surprisingly tedious task to accomplish).
ETJQM79A
So what actually happened in the ending? Did [sp]doomguy get sent back to hell? (wouldn't that take a fuckton of energy once again?) Or was he teleported to some other place in mars?[/sp]
Very good game anyways, I hope ID reconsiders their decision and they make a sp DLC.
I am loving Doom 2016. My thoughts so far;
-SnapMap
Object/module placement limitations, 4-player limit. I understand that SnapMaps are all cross-platform but this is one aspect that smacks of console-itis. SnapMap should extend the life of the game for some considerable time, especially if there are mods or DLC to bring new tilesets, objects, etc. SnapMap should not have replaced custom gamemodes for multiplayer, especially with these limits.
-Why are there 3 sets of keybindings?
Of course, you can change them, but without digging through 3 sets of control options you're left wondering why you can't melee. Now I can't remember whether I should be pressing R, F or E to get that glory kill in the heat of the moment.
-Why is SnapMap and multiplayer armour/weapon customisation seperate?
This is just so puzzling, the SnapMap points for unlocks works so well and feels a lot nicer than the multiplayer system. I like to be able to choose what I unlock. And I just want both my appearances to look the same!

[sp]He has either been sent back to hell or been sent to another part of the Mars facility, probably the original tether return point considering it said 'tether coordinates reset' right before the tether activated.[/sp]
During the campaign, did anyone else [sp]expect to fight Vega in some way? Him being so cool with allowing for his termination, he might have had a change of mind or had a hidden sub-routine activate in order to defend himself but nope.[/sp]

The BFG has been acquired. The demons shall soon learn that death is not a hunter unbeknownst to its prey.
I think I may have figured out the deal with the story, the reasons behind the discrepancies with the previous games and some of the weirder shit.
[sp]Hell is the only dimension that keeps moving forward in time. Our world is reset every time humanity reaches Mars, and Mars itself is used as one huge death-loop to feed hell and allowing them to take over our world and eat everything before resetting it all. Doomguy is the only human being who exists out of this loop.
If you look at the timeline that I did in the previous thread, some of the events of the different games superpose each other, but mean the exact same thing. In Doom 3, the UAC starts building Alpha Labs in 2096. In Doom 4, the UAC starts building Resource Operations in 2096.
Doomguy arrives on the UAC base in 2145, conscious or not. The original manual says that he spent three years on Mars before shit went down - the second manned operation to hell in Doom 4, which is implied to have been shortly before the hell wave, happens three years after Doomguy is found and brought to the UAC.
Hayden exists in both Doom 3's universe and Doom 4. In 3 he's a general backing up Betruger, in 4 he's a scientist. It's debatable since the only source for 3 were the novels, but it's there nonetheless.
But the superposing events aren't the only thing. After you get up and go to the first level, the game says "the cycle begins anew". Doomguy is called the Doom Slayer by hell and has been doing what he does for far too long to be truly human, yet he wears modern armor, and ancient tablets show him wearing that armor for a long ass time. The Great Steppe (titan's realm) is described in documents as being ancient, and having incredibly tall structures that aren't anywhere else in Hell as well as rooms full of artifacts from a bygone era.
The loop goes as such. Humanity finds mars, discovers hell, hell eats Mars and then Earth, resets the clock on humanity who goes over the exact same process in the same years but with variants every time. Doomguy, at some point, broke out of the loop and became aware of the whole bullshit due to his time spent in hell, so he starts murdering demons for eternity in hopes of stopping it. Stuff like the Corrax which keeps being cited is from previous loops that Doomguy was from. Doom 1 and 2 happened in their own timeline, ending in Earth's invasion. Doom 3 and 64 either happened in the same timeline or in two different timelines, but 64 leads to Doomguy managing to make a difference until he gets imprisoned and the loop begins anew. Demons keep moving forward and adapting to both humanity and doomguy, but humanity itself resets itself - leaving artifacts behind that are found every time they get back up there.
Stuff like the Corrax, the soul cube, the crucible, the knights and the tablets depicting doomguy are all left here by previous loops. While each loop is mostly self-sufficient, the presence of doomguy made them permeable to each other and this is why you start seeing shit like the UAC being a downright cult in Doom 4. The demons started trying to convincing humans to work for them instead of just taking them over because Doomguy is proving to be such a pain in the ass that they need humanity to work against him.
The world's a huge deathloop, Doomguy has exterminated demons for at least five of these loops (doom 1/2, doom 3, doom 4, and an unspecified loop when he understood what was happening and got really mad). Hayden is also potentially the only other person who understands what's going on due to his condition and the fact he also got to walk hell and come back, which explains why he resorts to using doomguy so much, while also being confident enough to think he can break the cycle himself.[/sp]

Don't take this as an insult to your character, but Ganerumo, what in the high hell are you going on about?
Got myself Doom 4, played Singleplayer mode for some time and having some fun. Checked the Multiplayer and i have to say one thing.
[sp]Open Beta one was way more fun than the current one. Fuck those people who use the Chaingun.[/sp]

[sp]I was somewhat expecting a VEGA fight. I still love however that the Doom Marine stopped his rampage for a moment to save VEGA and keep a backup of him. It's a strange piece of characterization. Perhaps VEGA's self-sacrifice endeared him to the Doom Marine.[/sp]
I'm like, the shittest Doom content producer here
What? You think that you can match the guy who forgot to texture sides of a door. And made a mappack where the shotgun is got halfway trough, rocket launcher is only found on a secret at the first level, plasma gun has barely any ammo, chaingun and BFG reside at the last level and SSG is nowhere to be seen? (and you have to berserk punch like 5 cacodemons on the 3rd map)

After eight years of writing overthought papers about all manners of stupid shit for my school I can't not do it on everything I see.

Read all the lore documents on environments, especially those about hell. [sp]Necropolis and Titan's Realm are practically trophy rooms at this point.[/sp]
Glory killed a Cyber-Manc and fell through the map.
Had to restart fight all over again.
My favorite bug so far was when I used a fleeing supply drone which had me noclip through the map all the way to the drone's final location, because I can totally picture doomguy clinging onto the flying drone trying to get it to let go of that fucking box.
At the Kadingir Sanctum, I started a fight and halfway through it decided to run back and do a rune trial. I come back to the area, and there's three lost souls; frozen in place, glowing blue, and invincible. That's about the only real bug i've encountered so far, except for one CTD early on in the game.

I got stuck in the floor once, in the first 15 minutes of gameplay by GKing an Imp while climbing up a ledge. Well, when I say stuck, I mean I planted myself to grow into a healthy Doom Tree, fertilized by the decaying Imps that lay around my roots. Then my fruit will bear, and spread the seeds of death to the demons of Hell, starting the cycle of the Doom Tree again.
After grinding up my runes, I was using the post-glory kill speed one, the glory kill range one, and the glory kill animation speed one. I ended getting a berserk power up and was ripping and tearing. But at one point I finished tearing an imp in half only to suddenly charge through a wall in to a neighboring hallway to kill an imp there.
Yeah, I got so fucking berserk I smashed through a wall to rip apart an imp.
By the way, the rune that gives you infinite ammo if you have more than 100/75 armor is OP as fuck. I can use that and siege mode on the gauss cannon and suddenly the game is easy mode. Or with the micromissiles for a lot of hilarity. And sentry mod on the minigun and turn in to an A10.
I wonder what happened to the classic cheat codes found in the localization string files.
Most of the classic ones were in there, they had descriptions and everything. a lot of sites are saying to put them into the console, but that doesn't work.
[editline]18th May 2016[/editline]
Or they might work, another site is telling me to input 'god' first in the console, and then all the 'id***' codes will work. Can't try it right now.

They're achievements, not actual cheat codes.
Only IDDQD works in the console.
Mind you, using cheats marks your save file forever, so if you want to do it, make a backup first.

I made a edit after you quoted me with more info.

Nah, the strings specifically mentioned how the cheats work.

I managed to do that as well. The way Doomguy punches the drones to get the gear, it is quite in character for him to hitch a ride with them as well as stealing their shit. I love the general disregard to UAC property the Doomguy has.
Also in regards to bugs, some lost souls decided they would take the pacifist approach and not do shit.
