This is a really freaking weird. I hit 'continue' and took me back 2 auto saves and loaded me in front of a rune challenge that I completed, but now its saying I have not. Also I died later and loaded the rune challenge instead of the autosave. I hit exit, and it booted me to the rune challenge menu.

Honestly they could stick the strogg in easily, i just don't want a full game dedicated to them. For me Q2 is fun but fatigue sets in really really quickly because it doesn't take too long before things start feeling samey. Doom 4 quality gunplay and all the enemy and location variety of Quake 1 + Q2 stuff mixed in. Could probably even work in the Q1 base enemies with the strogg somehow, I really like the scorpions from SoA.
Yeah, I mean the crates in the techbase levels even have the strogg logo on them, would be pretty easy to retcon them in.

I gotta say despite how limited and basic Snapmap is it's actually kinda fun making simple maps.

I'm in the fourth episode of Quake, my god this is hard. I'm only on normal and I'm dying many times per level. Fiends are a nightmare, and the whole place is spooky and eerie as shit.

Are there any quality megawads for Heretic, Hexen, or Strife? They seem way less popular than Doom, which is a shame, because they're all great games.

"oh no, pentagrams and 666, and hellish sounds, in a game about killing demons from hell, our children are being corrupted" It probably won't be a moral panic or anything nowadays, since there's so much worse out there on the market, but it still pains me to see fearmongering parents and individuals who either are overtly too religious for their own good or don't understand fictional works and raise a shitstorm that makes everyone else suffer as a result. And the pentagram isn't even inherently satanic in the first place, it only became 'evil' when upside-down in the mid-19th century because a writer basically said, "hey when you turn the pentagram upside down you turn it from the five senses / wounds of christ to an evil goat head, don't turn it upside down". Now people are so fucking dumb that even upright pentagrams get mistaken for satanism.

Im not sure how I feel about the 12 demon limit. I think it could easily be very overwhelming if it went above that since the maps are very tight and the demons are fast now. Every demon is capable of closing the gap between them and you really effectively and if they dont feel like it they can still mess you up badly because theyre super accurate with their projectiles, something that was missing in Doom, if they werent blocked by a demonblocking linedef ofcourse. Even in Doom I'd have some trouble handling 9 chaingunners, 6 revenants, 8 cacos, 7 knights and 6 barons in tight corridors or a small room. That gets completely circumvented if the room is spacy though. The only enemies that form a significant danger then are chaingunners and revenants. I use cover more than I'm probably willing to admit. Even if the general idea most people seem to have of Doom is lightningfast running and gunning, you'd just get yourself killed if you sprint into a room with your back faced to it if you haven't fully explored the dangers in it yet. I usually dont sprint into a large group of enemies too. I pick em off at the door with the ssg most of the time.
