Was that supposed to be directed at me?
Even if the general idea most people seem to have of Doom is lightningfast running and gunning, you'd just get yourself killed if you sprint into a room with your back faced to it if you haven't fully explored the dangers in it yet. I usually dont sprint into a large group of enemies too.
Now where would the fun be in that? Rip and tear all the way.
Was that supposed to be directed at me?
Nah, it was aimed at the person who made that post, unless you made that post?
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=687758203
because a 22 year old game uses the same amount of memory as a game that was released this year ok lol [editline]31st May 2016[/editline] the snapmap limit is dumb but come on, the comparison is awful at best
I never got the whole 'Doom promotes Satanism' thing. I mean, you're murdering the legions of hell by the dozen, literally tearing them limb from limb. Does this make Doomguy some sort of saint?
St. Guy of Phobos. Remember his heavenly wisdom, RIP AND TEAR.
It seems the population of Chaingunners in Doom 2016 multiplayer is decreasing or it's just me. Also I forgot to mention that owners of Shadow Warrior 2013 also gets a 85% discount on Hard Reset Redux, both Steam and GOG.
I don't understand what is with the chaingun, anytime I used it it performed like total ass and I got killed by anyone not using a chaingun.
I don't understand what is with the chaingun, anytime I used it it performed like total ass and I got killed by anyone not using a chaingun.
Most likely because people have it revved up anytime. I haven't even used Chaingun so dunno if it slows down.
Are there any quality megawads for Heretic, Hexen, or Strife? They seem way less popular than Doom, which is a shame, because they're all great games.
Here are some custom WADs ranging from multiple-episode sets to single huge levels. Heretic: Hordes of Chaos X Curse of D'Sparil Heretic Treasure Chest Elf Gets Pissed Hexen: Shadows of Chronos Strife: Absolute Order Return of the Order Day of the Acolyte
because a 22 year old game uses the same amount of memory as a game that was released this year ok lol [editline]31st May 2016[/editline] the snapmap limit is dumb but come on, the comparison is awful at best
it's not that far off. sure that particular pic is over the top, but even in the 90's there were wads with huge levels and tens of enemies onscreen it's painfully obvious that the snapmap limit (which applies, seamingly, to the whole game in general) is hamstrung by console limitations
Holy shit I have found my favourite loadout combo. Hellshot and Plasma Gun do very well together. Especially when you combine both of their alt fires.
because a 22 year old game uses the same amount of memory as a game that was released this year ok lol [editline]31st May 2016[/editline] the snapmap limit is dumb but come on, the comparison is awful at best
It was possible to hammer pc the same way back in -93 than on 2016. Nuts.wad in doom, explosive barrel / crate spam in gmod, explosive barrel spam in crysis, nuclear bombing in minecraft, etc. Why? The more important question is, why the fuck not?
So someone added doots to the doom 1 soundtrack and effects and it sounds better than I thought http://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=52294 https://knightofgames.bandcamp.com/album/doot-music

They hid the limitations very well, at least for the single player.
Just beat doom on ultra-violence. [sp]What the fuck, I thought I was gonna fight a titan. The last quarter of the game was leading up to it but instead I got a flippin' spider.[/sp] I'm trying to resist the urge to play nightmare since there's a lot of things I want to do before college starts up again.
something that strikes me as a super missed opportunity: why has no one ever thought to mix the doom theme with the original power rangers theme? the guitar riffs have incredible similarities

Great, with the newest update the game CTDs even more often
Brace yourselves SGT Mark is making his own Doom 4 addon using Neccronixxis's sprites
Seems kinda cool.
I find it odd seeing as how much he seemingly dislikes it for "copying" him
Don't like the weapon sounds though, they should be the ones from the game instead.
I find it odd seeing as how much he seemingly dislikes it for "copying" him
It's funny though because Doom 4 has so much more tact with the mechanics, what with smooth glory kills, better gore, feeling of weapons etc. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up eating his own words and just winds up cloning it 1:1 instead.
I want to make more 16x16 DOOM avatars, just ask if you want one made for you. Here's the thread in case you don't know what's up. EDIT: Keep in mind that avatars will have to be made in-browser using some tool on this website, so whatever I make, you'll probs have to colour pick from it and replicate it when the changes come. Obviously I have no idea how it'll work, but that's just my guess. Also, Plutonia Experiment is kicking my ass, but I love it. Playing it on UV was totally a good choice. :v:
Sorry, the only D4 mod I care about is this one right now:
Sorry, the only D4 mod I care about is this one right now:
I'm liking the rate at which he's pumping out these demonstrations. Looking forward to the end product, especially because I can't get the new DOOM at the moment.

People take a look at things, and wonder "how do I improve on these concepts?" Innovation can result in cool new stuff from time to time, but most of the time we're thinking about how to improve on what came before. Wolfenstein: TNO had progression where you got perks for doing special "mini-achievements", and Doom 4 probably took inspiration from that with their hybrid system. While upgrading weapon mods and armour power requires tokens and points and whatnot, weapon masteries were unlocked by pulling off similar "feats". Plus you can get extra upgrade points with level-specific feats. Which is awesome.

Doom 4 does it better, honestly. They promote you to try use that weapon in situations that would compliment the weapon for mastery, like killing three or more enemies with the Gauss Cannon Siege Mode shots at a time. Meanwhile Wolfenstein: TNO just sort of goes "okay kill 10 enemies while sliding" or "kill 20 enemies with thrown knives". It's less actually figuring out uses for a weapon and more of a literal challenge system for perks that suddenly boost your ammunition pools or so forth.
