Fallout and TES are at least franchises where there are couples and children, and in some you can have sex (and they debatably have attractive characters too), but Doom is pure shooting, so it's more ridiculous for a game with no sexuality at all to get a sex mod :v:
Speak for yourself. I am awaiting for Doom 4: In Defense of Demonsex - Return of the Impse.
Grey Matter Studios currently is Treyarch.
They deserved better than to make an endless amount of COD games in my opinion, could even say the same for Treyarch after they made the fantastic version of Spider Man 2 on consoles but I digress. Why they weren't again employed for what would eventually be Wolf 09 is just baffling to me.
Considering how Bethesda tends to ruin everything (I was right about DooM4 MP btw), again, I'm willing to give it benefit of doubt but I remain skeptical at best.
I would imagine we won't hear anything about the new Wolfenstein until next year considering all they've let off is a hint.
Quake Con is in August, might hear something there
I really would've liked a new singleplayer Quake, one that goes back to Quake 1, but honestly I'm happy with another Quake 3 style game. Now, I'm not saying it's good or not, I'd have to wait until Quakecon to make those assumptions, but I'm pretty interested so far. Mainly because UT4 is the only MP arena shooter we've gotten in a while that actually feels like an arena shooter, so I'd really love to get some more out there. And you shouldn't immediately assume that special abilities will ruin the Quake feel. As they described in the aftershow, most of the abilities almost seem like another weapon, (i.e. Bull Charge, Teleporter, Speed Boost). I guess all I'm asking is: Give the game the benefit of the doubt until you have a really good reason to shit on it, because we've only seen a cinematic trailer and heard vague details from someone who probably barely knows anything about the game.
Give the game the benefit of the doubt until you have a really good reason to shit on it.
Do you know who you're fucking talking at
Saw the description for Quake Champions
Quake Champions features a roster of unique characters, each with their own distinctive abilities, allowing you to fight the way you want
Not as interested anymore.
I feel like I'm in bizarro Facepunch or something. I've never seen such instant negativity towards something like this. We were even one of the only places optimistic towards DOOM back then. I thought better of you guys.
Okey dokey.
This made me laugh way harder than it should have
Honestly I wouldn't mind all this stuff in the new Quake if they just gave us mod tools for it. I could imagine it being really cool if they create lovecraftian AI monsters and shit, but only made multiplayer levels and said "fuck it you guys can make your own maps and mods" I would've loved to see what some of the dudes who still make maps for quake would do in a new game
Saw the description for Quake Champions Not as interested anymore.
Oh no, they're not making the exact game they made 17 years ago
I just realized that I can't even re-install Quake Live because they made it paid on Steam, and after I uninstalled it a while back, it disappeared from my library and now I can't re-install it even from the store. GG idSoftware.
Oh no, they're not making the exact game they made 17 years ago
See, I can be glad they're not creating a modded Quake 3 again (I pray, but with the budget in that CGI trailer we can at least assume there's more work in this than Live easily), but Saber Interactive and the whole 'abilities per character' thing give me a cautious feeling. Also in hindsight, just because the trailer shows Ranger picking up the Lightning Gun doesn't mean much for loadouts since by default, Snapmap in Doom 4 has you going all Halo with the two weapon limit by dropping the current gun for a new one. I'm sure it won't be terrible, but I have more than enough reasons to be weary. And unless there's bot matches I probably wouldn't play it much anyway unless I decide to try to get into competitive gaming (and get over the hurdle of Centurylink).
fpsmoba bandwagons.
But it isn't a MOBA. it is still an arena shooter, you can pick up weapons laid around the map, just characters have different attributes. It closer to Team Fortress.
I understand that just remaking Quake 3 today doesn't really make sense and they have to change stuff up, but if they turn it into a class based shooter, then it's not really Quake anymore, is it? I really don't understand why all the major devs are jumping on this class-based/hero shooter bandwagon.
Reminder that I am sure a lot of people here hated or were skeptical of the new Doom and of Wolfenstein, infact I could say this of the internet in general. This isn't Quake 3, its Quake Champions. Will it be good? Don't know, but I haven't seen a lick of true gameplay, some CGI and some announcer talking about that I didn't get a chance to listen to, I don't think really says much about it. Wait until the game comes around in a fuller form before really forming concrete opinions. Me? I'm just gonna do what I always do. Assume its just going to be another decent video-game, give it a chance, and have a lot of fun like Doom and Wolf
Didn't Quake 3 Arena get shit on until release too?
Didn't Quake 3 Arena get shit on until release too?
By people that wanted single player and didn't keep the game alive in the first place.
I can see different attribute characters in Quake working to an extent, because some people might want to tailor their playstyle in a non-stock character manner, which is entirely okay in my book. HOWEVER, they need to remove everything but basic weapons from the spawn kits if that is the case. The most extreme cases, like (a hypothetical example) Doomguy starting with an SSG, should be fine-tuned to still work in tune with the rest of the gunplay instead of having readily available strong weapons at spawn, like in Doom '16. That's not to say that the spawn weapons should be useless, of course, but their disadvantages should encourage weapon hunting around the map.
It's like I've been saying, have the loadouts be for simpler starting weapons, and have the big boy guns be pickups. That'd be an ideal hybrid system.

Is Doom's multiplayer already dead? I'm having trouble finding anyone.
I find it incredibly offensive that they started with DOS intro despite their game not being a reboot of Q1. Shame on you, Bethesda, for trying to ride both retro and fpsmoba bandwagons.
What "FPSMOBA bandwagon"? The only FPS MOBA I can think of that's come out recently is Battleborn.
It's like I've been saying, have the loadouts be for simpler starting weapons, and have the big boy guns be pickups. That'd be an ideal hybrid system.
It probably doesn't mean anything, but the trailer showed a character picking up a dropped weapon from a dead character.
As it should be.
My fps has been fluctuating randonly on all games (all games) I captured an example on doom top right corner (30fps-50fps, the screenshot happened to be on the low side). I have been troubleshooting for a few months now and it seems to be unsolvable. Basically my experience is choppy and it feels like microstutter even though I have a single GPU [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/259335280246173803/B848CD06490184234DC4171AEFAFCDA75B87B37D/?interpolation=lanczos-none&output-format=jpeg&output-quality=95&fit=inside|2048:1152&composite-to=*,*|2048:1152&background-color=black [/t] I'm not a big computer guy so I'm probably laughably wrong but it seems a couple cores are barely doing any work and that might be what is causing it
1:02 - at first I thought that was the chaingun between the gears but it looks too slim, maybe that's the chainsaw? Would be nice, the lack of chainsaw in snapmap was really disappointing.
Yeah, why even bother with Quake MP in our day and age anyway? The old arena style gameplay just don't appeal to broad audiences today, as was shown by the new UT and many indie arena games. And if you start changing it too much, it will stop feeling like Quake. Remaking Quake SP sounds much more reasonable to me, but I understand if they don't want to make another DOOM so soon, and that a Quake remake would probably result in the same game, but then again I would play it and I think many people would.
I didn't mean it in the sense that no one would buy it, they can probably sell a decent amount of copies just off the brand name alone. It's just that the devs probably don't see a good reason to make the same game again. The diehard fans will happily stick to playing Q3/Live for years to come, unless the remake somehow managed to improve on it in every single way. There's also more modern clones like Reflex in the works. Imagine they remake Q3 with better graphics and it doesn't allow you to host your own servers or have all the other features that used to be taken for granted but are slowly disappearing from modern games for whatever reasons. The harcore fans will just shit on it super hard and the game will be doomed to fail. By making a different game, they're distancing themselves from the level of scrutiny that a straight up remake would fall under. I'm not sure that what they're doing is the right way to go about it, but I guess we'll have to and see how it turns out.
Is Doom's multiplayer already dead? I'm having trouble finding anyone.
I had this problem yesterday morning, couldn't find any players. It kept saying waiting on 3 more players but would never find anyone. I tried restarting my router which didn't work, but it seemed to work again after rebooting my computer of all things. After that, I was able to find matches without any issue.
can someone help me out, I don't own doom so I've no idea if this appears in the game, but I mind hearing a modern variant of the doom 3 theme in one of the trailers, is this in game? and if so is someone able to link me the full track if it exists? cheers
