Quake 1 DM is fun as fuck.
I really suck ass at it though.
while the UI and the performance aren't as clean, the PDA interface in the original version is arguably a lot better, the original intended game balance is kept, and you have mods that can improve the game a lot, yeah
plus it's so much cheaper than BFG Edition by default that the only reason you'd get BFG Edition is for the Lost Mission (not really worth it unless you want more action for a couple hours) or for the changes since Doom 3 + all the Classic Doom games besides the Master Levels are a better deal if you break source ports out for classic
Also Doom 2's wad has the secret Wolfenstein levels censored in BFG Edition
yeah the classics are a bargain in there.... is D3's MP any good?
Does the developer mode glitch happen often in DOOM?
yeah the classics are a bargain in there.... is D3's MP any good?
unless you're playing certain mods (and I haven't checked them so they may be dead by now), multiplayer is pretty much dead as far as I can tell

Bluh how did it get so late so fast?
Yesterday I was thinking to myself; "Keinan, if all the other weapons are supposed to complement the bat, then why don't you have the bat be out all the time?"
So now this isn't a Doom ripoff; it's a Demonsteele ripoff.
[vid]https://my.mixtape.moe/kqtted.webm[/vid]
It works like this:
1-5 = Switch weapons (6 and beyond gets hard to reach via WASD)
LMB = Swing horizontal
RMB = Fire Weapon
MWHEELDOWN = Swing Vertical (Up)
MWHEELUP = Swing Vertical (Down; Not implemented yet)
What do you guys think?

I always use mousewheel to change weapons, much safer than lifting a finger from the controls.

I was thinking I might have a togglable control scheme where you can switch between bound keys and mousewheel (Maybe Q and Z?). I have a custom control thing going instead of using Unitys clunky Input system (Although I use Input.IsKeyDown and similar functions) so key rebinding should be easy once I make an options menu at some point.
Honestly i really like the new Doom's weapon wheel, if you do it quick enough it doesn't slow down time and once you remember where the weapons are its really easy to quickswitch with it without letting go of anything

I'm real excited for this. Loved the first one.
Man, the PCG server for Q1 has a lot more players than i was expecting.
Bit much, would've liked to see some custom maps and maybe TDM but i've missed QW

Man, as awesome as the new Doom's theme is, I wish it was at the same tempo as the original
MachineGames (Wolfenstein The New Order) just threw a new full Quake 1 episode out there like it ain't no thang.

Machinegames have just further cemented themselves as some of my favourite game devs.
And so far the maps aren't bad at all, although the second one loves Enforcers.

Btw, if you're gonna use a sourceport to play it, you might as well use Romero's favorite :v:

Okay, I guess you're THE person to ask...
What did "Ballgag Mode" for Duke even do?

MachineGames is now my favorite developer.
How exactly am I supposed to install the new episode? I want to play it but im a little confused how it's supposed to install as it doesn't seem to work like other mods in that sense.

It's just a map pak, load it like you would a map set. If you're using Darkplaces, put it in its own folder, go to options, browse mods, and then enable it (and any other mods you might play with it).
Just tried to play the new Quake level in Quakespasm and all the monsters are invisible.
The fuck.
[editline]24th June 2016[/editline]
Actually it's fine now.
Just had to restart it.
Wish I got it recorded though. That was fucking bizarre.
I played the 2016 DOOM demo and loved it, and I've been thinking about getting W: TNO since it's only $10. If I liked DOOM 2016, will I like TNO?

Haven't played Doom '16 yet, but I can assure you, you can't go wrong with Wolfenstein: TNO. It's really good.

Ok, finished playing Machine Games' 1st Quake level. Pretty cool little level, I must say.

TNO has more modern elements and has a very big story focus. Personally I loved it and consider it one of the best shooters I've ever played, everything it does either feels unique or like the most perfect polished attempt at a previous idea done and the ways you can play through missions differently (stealth, guns-blazing dual-wield oldschool retard mode, a more tactical style with usage of cover) really makes it a good value imo.

If you're cool and use the *Romero approved* Quakespasm (or really any other source port other than Darkplaces), open the console and type in "game *foldername*"
It's that easy.

Holy fuck what the hell
In E5M6 (The Underworld) [sp] you come across a pair of sewer gates that you have to drop into. Once you're down there though, you're immediately greeted by 3 Shamblers, 2 Fiends, 1 vore and multiple knights and ogres, with no powerups in sight. What the fuck Machine games?? [/sp]
Just finished machine games quake episode. Absolutely beautiful mapping. Seemed really scarce on ammo though. In the final boss room deal i had to kill 2 shamblers with just my axe. Other than that I really enjoyed it. Fantastic work machine games.
