Might have been my crap sense of direction but I didn't manage to find the yellow keycard (but did find 2 secrets as well as the secret with in a secret?) and I'm sorry to say I lost interest. The enemy balancing was alright but you put way too many pickups around which made the level too easy, I was at full health/armour at most times which meant I didn't bother to go for some of the small armour pieces. You put 2 large armour pickups in one room despite it being a 1 player map. Also due to me being stupid I didn't realise you had to put the green core back before you could leave the room to find another one, maybe add something into the dialogue to guide players to do that. I also didn't like how many large rooms there were and how much backtracking I needed to do. Other than that it has promise, you just need to keep balance in mind when placing pickups.
Damn, I was really worried people would pass the yellow key, but I really wanted people to explore, if your wondering where it was it was down the stairs left of the Universal Power Generator. The reason why there was so many pickups in that room was because you had to pass through it multiple times and I want to make sure the player was stocked for later. Thanks for letting me know about this, Ill do a couple of edits, unfortunately I don't have access to Play testers so I was designing it based on proven concepts in level design and prayed it would be enough

Wait they're being pretty vague, do they mean best designed in terms of gameplay or the coolest looking/sounding weapon. Because if this is a contest of who can create the best playing weapon im very interested in seeing the results.

That's a good question. I decided to do both with mine;
The Vivaceral is an industrial, two handed platform for firing large, spinning blades, with blade edges connected to a core powered by Hell Magic. The faster the blade spins in the air, more kinetic energy is routed to the core of the blade and used to sharpen the edges in mid-flight, deforming and leaving a streak of molten metal particles behind it, and being perfectly safe when not being used (Looks like some thin metal washer when stored). As it travels, the burning metal and the displacement of air creates an unmistakable, high-pitched screech. Holding Right Mouse Button will spin it up, and while RMB is held and the blade is spinning fast enough, pressing LMB will launch it forward. Best practices include running or circle-strafing during use to increase the net velocity of the blades as they fire. Moving with the Haste Powerup creates enough energy in the blades to cut through nearly any demon you come across!
I should have added that falling from large heights creates a lot of momentum and would encourage wielders to climb up higher to kill tougher demons from down below. :v:
Thanks for the comeback bonus game, that's a generous olive branch to extend after spawning me in front of a BFG 3 times :v:
i submitted a nailgun suggestion
heres to hoping i get a runner up....
You know the theme at the end of each level in the original Dooms when you have the percentage of enemies killed, secrets founs, etc
Is there a version of this in Doom4?
I went simple and submitted a Quad Shotgun with a little bit of flavor text about a Shotgun-Chaingun revolving barrel upgraded alt fire, and the idea that a little bit of Quad Damage magic is empowering it further. :v:
Here is that Devil Daggers snapmap I made in video form.

There is a version that gives more upgrade points the more enemies you kill on the map, until you have wiped the entire place clean.
Why the fuck would you play Doom with it though.
Or any FPS that requires reaction times for that matter.
because it's more comfortable for me and actually works pretty well in a shooter, far better than you'd think it would
I fully expect people who haven't used it to not like the idea of using it, and I don't really care if people don't like the idea, I pretty much have set it up in tons of games and used it perfectly fine and that's just what I like
though it's sad to still see people reacting poorly to something that has already been tested over and over again
like I'd understand the remark if someone tried to claim joysticks are as accurate as mice but that's not the case here

He means the intermission screen theme.
Has Bethesda/ID/whoeverthehellworksonsnapmap already confirmed post launch support for SnapMap? There is a lot that should be changed and added, it would be a damn shame if they just left it in the state that its in.

I went ahead and wrote my own weapon for the contest.
THE WEAPON
Originally developed by the UAC to help navigate hell and repatriate UAC employees from the demon dimension as well as incapacitate and handle demons in our world, Tether technology has now been weaponized as a powerful, self-contained portable unit that generates localized tether fields.
The weapon's projectile is a 2.2 feet long rod, specially designed for aerodynamic flight. The back of the rod is loaded with a primer and a cap which, when hit by the weapon's compression hammer, propel the rod forward with enough velocity to enter most hard surfaces as well as any flesh and most bone structures, including those of demons. The cap itself is ejected via a port on the side of the weapon.
The back of the rod, right after the primer and its cap, is outfitted with a powerful argent generator that fires beams at every nearby location, creating a "net" of argent energy. This field will melt down any unprotected mortal flesh, including those of recently possessed human beings, but will only stop stronger demons. However, if these demons are first weakened, they may also be hurt in the process.
The area created by the Tether Gun should not be entered under any means, as it is extremely dangerous to the touch and will cause permanent injuries, loss of limbs, or death. Employees are advised to only use the Tether Gun on demons that can withstand it, so UAC can recover these precious sources of knowledge in one piece. Demon safety first !
THE MODS
There exists two modifications for the tether gun which alter its design and allow for new uses.
The FIELD DEGENERATOR is a large receptor installed on the weapon's side, and acts as a form of magnet for the rod and its deployed argent field. When activated, the Degenerator will interact with the field and cause it to retract until it disappears. Anything caught within the field will be forced to its center, and if unable to escape or to resist the pull, will get crushed and vaporized as the field folds itself. This can be a very efficient tool to calm down rowdy demons who are trying to escape the field, but it may also just crush them into thin paste, and the UAC disagrees of such harsh treatment of our demon overlords.
The motorized DELTA BARREL is a module which increases the number of chambers to three, loading as many rods. When fired, as soon as the rods leave the barrel, their generators will connect with each other and create a triangle of argent energy, thin enough to slice anything that touches it. Upon penetrating a surface, the rods will crate a very small and localized field that will cover a considerably smaller area, or wrap itself around a single demon, allowing for much larger targets to be subdued for a longer period of time. This lowers the effective area that the Tether Gun can cover but ultimately increases its potency against single targets by a large amount. Note that the increased potency of the localized field means that even fewer demons can resist it, and it is highly recommended to only use this firing mode for larger threats, that could not be stopped any other way.
The UAC entrusts you to not divulge this information and to refer to the UAC User's Manual - NVDA1080 Tether Gun Mk II before using the weapon.

I may have gone a bit overboard.

Literally solved a planetary and colonial energy crisis, and brought a new age for humanity.
Then a certain someone fucked it all up.
Can someone explain the snapmap limitation to me before I build myself into a corner
Someone said something about only having 30% in each of the limits rather than each one being able to be filled up to 100% or something?

best thing about doom: Meleeing consoles and health stations because they have 1 button for everything

why are the default controller bindings in games are always the fucking worst
at least keyboard binds separate them

BFG 9000 with quad damage is a bit overkill
For some reason I was getting some frame drops in a small room in the game right as I started playing, so I restarted, went back in, and the game ran smooth as butter, and then I pressed up against a tiny pane of glass and lost at least 20 FPS until I backed away from it.
What the FUCK is this optimization?

Doomguy pretty much did the equivalent of vanishing every last drop of oil from Earth in one go. I can see why Hayden would risk the demons.

Also how do you create secrets so that they're displayed at the end of a game? (0/2 secrets etc.)
edit: never mind, figured it out. You create a Map object under 'gameplay' and put logic into it

Ayy so did I!

The Tesla Coil is a compact weapon capable of sending out large fields of electrical pulses. It builds up it's charge through cell batteries and a lust for HUGE GUTS! The primary fire sends on a large jolt of lightening, a flowing through the bodies of anyone dumb enough to stand against the DOOM Slayer, causing their limbs to contort and their heads to explode, covering the battlefield is bloody visceral. 60,000,000 volts of power pulse through this weapon, eagerly awaiting to spark some trouble.
The secondary fire is more focused on large groups of enemies, because you can't have a good weapon unless you can claim superiority over the battlefield. It sends out a large net of energy that wraps around groups of enemies, coiling around them as it eats away at their flesh before pulling them apart, causing a large jamboree of gore to spill on the battlefield, leading to songs and tales about the dreaded DOOM Slayer, and his lust for a bit of the ol' RIP AND TEAR.
Imagine it, you are part of hell's legion, you are the front lines, you are the ones who are going to lead the charge onto Mars as you destroy all that come in your path. But wait, that sound...a sound of pulsing energy mixed with the sounds of pure hatred, and the sound of the ten thousand hours that the UACs finest has spent developing this monstrosity.
It gets closer, the large pulsing makes you look up into the air, but there is no clouds, there is no thunder or lightening! You look to your fellow hell-spawn as you slowly start to feel sick, that feeling of dread is slowly crawling up inside of you as you hear heavy clanks of boots again steel. You look down from the sky, and all you can remember is that burning feeling of your skin slowly searing off as the dreaded DOOM Slayer steps over you, the large hum of his weapon as he walks down that long steel corridor. The DOOM Slayer only relies on the best ways to commit mass slaughter, and you were unfortunately, a test subject.
It's not the BFG, but it's going to cause a big fucking mess!
Thanks for your consideration.
