So apparently my R9 270X is actually below minspec somehow for Doom4 (ffs why is AMD numbering so much shit).
So now I have to upgrade. I'm probably going to go with the RX 480 because of price and principles. To those that have it, how is performance on Doom with it?
I played the demo with a R9 270x and it even went over 60 FPS on low at 1080p sometimes, it was stable between 40-60 if I remember correctly, even when under attack. CPU is i5 4690k at 3.5 GHz.
Well what is your CPU? Might not be pumping enough juice.
Here are my specs:
-Intel i5-6400@2.7GHz (3.2 GHz Boost)
-AMD Radeon R9 270X 2GB
-32 GB RAM
I tried to get help on the steam forums, they kept telling me it was my GPU and refused to listen to my hunches that I might be bottlenecking the CPU due to AMD's god awful OpenGL drivers.

Did you try updating your drivers?
Do you guys know whether GtkRadient or NetRadient would be good for mapping for Quake 3 Arena?
Just beat DOOM, pretty fantastic, but I could totally see myself getting bored had there been one more Hell level, they didn't remotely have the sticking power as the Mars levels, which is so bizarre. They could have done anything, but Hell feels so bland. It was a problem I had with even the earliest previews.

The best part about hell is the music. When I first heard that choir after killing a bunch of enemies, it gave me chills.

I think it's mostly that the game itself starts to drag in the last couple levels. There's not really much left to find or unlock, so you're just rushing to the end.

That was actually the first thing I did when I got Doom since at the time I thought it had Vulcan support and wanted to make sure I had the necessary drivers.

Any take on Sign of Evil is a good thing, frankly.

Vulkan support for DOOM is now live on PC!

Didn't help out my 760s performance, oh well. :saddowns:
Setting it to use Vulkan just causes the game to crash on startup for me; using a 660 Ti
Gonna try updating drivers, hopefully that sorts it out.

It's gonna be more for AMD and 9xx+
160+ FPS on a 980.
Good stuff.
Wow, I can't believe how thoughtful it was of the BTSX devs to leave a present just for me!

:worried:
Driver update worked, Vulkan didn't seem to improve FPS noticeably on my antiquated system. Also crashed upon picking up and trying to read the first data log in the Foundry, then the bug reporter froze when typing in that information :v:

Same, didn't do jack shit on the 770. I give up all hope about getting to run this game on my gpu.

Now if only it wasn't 60 bucks, I would test if it solved my FPS issues...
Holy fuck the Vulkan update is incredible.
Argent Tower used to drop to 45-50 FPS for me, and now it's at a steady 90-140 through the whole map.
Really gave my 970 and poor old i5 CPU a boost.
Anybody notice any stuttering though?
It's not dropped frames, as the counter is the same, but it almost seems like slowdown/stuttering every now and then.
Mainly when you first start a map.
Switching to Vulkan made the game a terrible lagfest/framedrop galore till I turned off Vsync.
Average 108fps with everything maxed out on R9 390.

770 should run the game fine, that was my old GPU before I upgraded and I could get 60fps most of the time at medium settings, are your other specs alright?

Yes. I got a i7 processor.
This has been an issue since the game came out with all 700 cards, and Bethesda nor ID hasn't done shit about it.
Vulcan runs great on my 1070 and AMD FX-8350, I get around 120-180 fps on ultra 1080p now instead of 70-120
I still gotta get a new monitor sometime
Nice, updated drivers, game updated, switched on vulkan and now the game won't even launch.
Any way to force it back to opengl through launch options?
