Doom 3 bfg, $8, worth it for someone who has all doom games including normal doom 3 already?
You won't really be buying anything new, save your cash
I was about to buy it. Is the optimization and 8 new levels not that great?
The new levels are mostly recycled.
Oh wait it's $5 on Amazon whats a good price? I want it someday to complete my collection, I'm pretty sure I have all "quakecon" titles but it [editline]13th July 2016[/editline] Well and the new doom spass
I'd want one if it was the superior shoulder-mounted trumpets version.
You mean rocket-tubas?

BFG is a mess and terrible. It wouldn't even launch on my PC when standard Doom 3 would launch perfectly.
ended up getting it at $5 a couple minutes ago, but I don't mind trying to see if a modded doom 3 original is better what mods did you have in mind
The Lost Mission isn't a bad playthrough, but it's nothing special and there's entire chunks of it where they just reuse the same enemies over and over and over. Once you get the Super Shotgun, Plasma Rifle and Rocket Launcher, you're set for the rest of the short campaign. If you really want to be a completionist, adding BFG Edition isn't bad. I don't like the compression on the textures, the overly-easy rebalancing or the PDA UI, but it's a neat way to quickly play Doom 3 if you want a tweaked experience without pulling up mods and has Resurrection of Evil right there in the pack with no need to load it up separately. The performance is really good too.

Now I wish doom go was a thing Would easily pay $10 for it if no microtransactions
[t]https://s3.amazonaws.com/zam-www/assets/editorial/2016/07/ChexQuestHD_Screen002.jpg[/t] Chex Quest is getting a remake. I don't care if I'm late because I'm really excited (source)
Now there's literally no excuse for anyone who asks "Does it support Brutal Doom?"

Trying Return to Saturn X. I like the levels, don't like the music.
I made a SnapMap, but unfortunately have no idea how to get the tag. Search for"!DerUntoten — Horde ". Apologies for the clickbaity name, but I did pour a couple of solid days into it. If people could get a couple of people together to play test it it would be great, not sure how good progression scales with more than one player
Because i chose to play it through my first time on nightmare means i can't fuck around with photo mode. Kinda BS, just disable saving or something unless you load the last checkpoint with it off
What do you recommend modwise I hate vanilla buti don't want to fuck up and download a mod that I realize is ass 3 hours into the game
Duct tape mod is the most obvious answer. It's so obvious the BFG addition added it in. It simply adds a flashlight on certain weapons which means you don't have to fucking switch to the flashlight every 5 seconds. I haven't played many DOOM 3 mods. I remember trying Action Doom 3 which made a lot of the battle/encounter more interesting (more enemies and less emphasis on scares) Also, any graphics mod that is popular these days. They're plentiful and will make the game look much better than the BFG edition ever did.
Heavily disagree on the duct tape mod. Doom 3 uses light - and the lack of it - as a main driver of tension throughout the entire campaign, and flashlight whenever/duct tape mods completely undermine this.
yeah absolutely, many encounters involve darkness + easy enemies, the whole challenge is that you can't see and shoot at the same time
I don't mind the light I just hate the bulletsponge enemies, it makes the guns feel so fucking flaccid the shotgun blows so hard it hurts

Script error, "bdmonsters20b.pk3:decorate/blood.txt" line 610: Expected ',', got 'l'. Is there something wrong with the version he uploaded? Using the latest GZDoom SVN right now. EDIT: Huh, guess it only works with the last stable build. I hate when mods jump around between SVN and regular.

I've played through DOOM 3 multiple times, so for me darkness is more an hindrance than anything else. The first time it probably worked as intended though.
I don't mind the light I just hate the bulletsponge enemies, it makes the guns feel so fucking flaccid the shotgun blows so hard it hurts
The shotgun is the most tragic part of Doom 3. It looks awesome, it has a meaty sound, it FEELS good, but it barely deals any damage.
I'll probably just try out Perfected Doom 3
I'll probably just try out Perfected Doom 3
It's pretty good. Takes a little tweaking to get working right, but I like it. Make sure your settings are actually scaling to high, ultra etc, since I think it'll default to very low even if you change the settings, so you have to tweak DoomConfig.
I don't mind the light I just hate the bulletsponge enemies, it makes the guns feel so fucking flaccid the shotgun blows so hard it hurts
Boost the damage and rate of fire of the weapons aand it's immediately way more fun. I did it for the second half of RoE, and I regret not doing it from the very start of Doom 3.

Everything is designed to be an annoying hindrance to you shooting demons in the face.
Having Sikkmod rebalance the weapons to more classic Doom levels of damage wasn't bad at all, and combine that with the alpha shotgun which brought some spread and damage tweaks, it was pretty fun. I'm still surprised that outside of numerous classic Doom recreation attempts (which often suck at rebalancing gameplay and enemies), no one's actually modified maps and gameplay to have a better flow and less spooks. But then that'd be a hell of a lot of hard work.
