I did exactly that, with help from some badass map peoples.
What mod would that be again? I think I remember you talking about it but I can't remember what it was.
Alright, playing Doom on PS4 now, it really is oversensitive. But i'm starting to get the hang of it.
Jesus Christ, even on Hurt Me Plenty, that bad performance on PC was practically a slow-mo crutch. With everything going full speed it's genuinely real hectic. Although playing with headphones, it sounds like i'm hearing enemies in the opposite of the direction they're in or something, it's weird.

have you maybe put the headphones on the wrong way round?
have you maybe put the headphones on the wrong way round?
Nah, the music, voice acting, gun sounds and everything were right. But the monster sounds just seem off, like they happen in weird directions.
Heavily disagree on the duct tape mod. Doom 3 uses light - and the lack of it - as a main driver of tension throughout the entire campaign, and flashlight whenever/duct tape mods completely undermine this.
To be fair the pitch black hard edged shadows are really jarring since the entire concept was rendered obsolete within months of the game's release since source engine came out very soon after and had a proper lighting system that didn't rely on pitch black darkness to render the game at a decent FPS.
I only play the game with modded flashlights onto the guns now because the literally pitch black screen has become a technical artifact from a bygone era that I can't stand to look at anymore.

I always felt the stark lighting of Quake 4 and Doom 3 were one of the only things that aged well. Despite shitty textures and low poly counts the games have some pretty beautiful sections, kinda like STALKER. Throw sikkmod in the mix and the game's can go toe-to-toe with AAA games nowadays.

yes, zero point lower case L

I'm pretty sure idtech 4's strong point was that it did real time lighting. Source is all pre compiled lighting, right?
And I'm pretty sure all the shadows use more processing power than trying to render them at a decent fps.
Also, Doom 3 ran pretty okay on og Xbox while HL2 wasn't as good. It's comparing apples to oranges though.

I've never programmed anything in my life but this still seems so fucking absurd.
Like, how does this even happen?

It MIGHT be happening

No, Blood. It's Jace Hall.
Blood? The old DN3D mod or whatever?
[editline]15th July 2016[/editline]
Oh fuck it is that's great news
I love that all the old doom clones are making comebacks

Blood isn't a doom clone tho.
Also it's not a mod. How do you mix that up?
It's a dn3d mod the same way as counter strike source is an hl2 mod
It's built off of the engine made for DN3D
How isn't it a doom clone? Build engine is practically doom clone the engine. I said mod to avoid clone because it's stylistically different
I never felt so unintentionally anally destroyed and also saw Blood get blown the fuck out

Doom Clone is a generic term that was used because the concept of an FPS was not really a thing back then. It was a neutral to negative term and most of the time today its used in a negative context.
BUILD is also a fairly different engine and has tons of features that are completely different. Blood does not use the same version of BUILD as DN3D and was custom modified. Counter Strike Source is a video-game.
I don't really care in of itself, just you know, poking this with a stick :smug:
I didn't mean to insult blood I just chose a poor choice of words

yeah but css is built off of a modification of hl2, iirc you can even still find gman and other hl2 stuff built into it
also I'd never use doom clone in a negative aspect, what's not to love about doom/dn3d/blood/shadow warrior etc? I know BUILD is way different in a good way but I still wouldn't say its not meant for doom clones, DN3D was partially parody of doom clones imo

Nah, nothing wrong with what you said, I just thought it was funny kinda like bad video-games news reporting "Oblivion 2".

Oblivion is a Bully mod

I never thought I'd have to research jokes.

I mean, it reuses some Quake 2 code, but I thought it was the other way around.

Then 90% of everything is a Quake mod.
Then 90% of everything is a Quake mod.
That's not entirely incorrect.
