Half-life 2 Cut Content - Is it me or dose the cut content look better than what we got?

To think of it, nothing shown/talked about in this thread would even exist if not for that 2003 leak...
That Half-Life 0.52 disc would probably still have gotten out, maybe even earlier, and this thread would be about that I guess

I'm pretty sure at least some of this would still be evident even if the 2003 leak had never happened. We could still have found bits of code and whatnot from the leak material in the final game, as well as reused items such as the cremator head in the jar.

No Raising the Bar either
So glad I got that book years ago, I even kept the sticker that came on the plastic wrap:

Keep it sealed, you'll be able to sell it for a ridiculous amount of money some day

I was on the combineoverwiki and I seen this image and seen that it had no source. I searched Google with the image, and came across this:
http://www.quake.spb.ru/pics/3daction/halflife/
It appears to be a massive repository of screenshots of the Half-Life Alpha, which is a discovery in it of itself, but something really interesting is these 3 directories:
http://www.quake.spb.ru/pics/3daction/halflife/tf2/
http://www.quake.spb.ru/pics/3daction/TF-for-HL/
http://www.quake.spb.ru/pics/3daction/TF2/
It appears to be screenshots of Team Fortress: Brotherhood of Arms mixed in with some screenshots of Team Fortress Classic for some reason.
Some random images from pics/3daction/halflife/tf2/:

It would be pretty cool if the pages worked.
edit: works in archive.org. Also some of these screenshots I've never seen before, pretty interesting.
Yea, especially the Team Fortress 2: Brotherhood of arms ones.
Also:

Unless that HUD is faked, I believe that is the first time I see it from the game.
all of those HL1 photos are old news, everyone knows about them, but the TF2 and Valve's Team Fortress stuff might be new, I never really researched it.
This's completely off topic, but putting bar-codes on peoples heads is where you hit the cliche line, right?
... I guess computer chips aren't any better.

looks like the Gunman Chronicles hud.
No news on Citizen 17?

A goldmine of alpha pictures it seems.

surprised there's no footage of TF2 (or Valve's Team Fortress, as referenced in the original HL1 disc) from E3 98. There's footage from HL1
Finally got my port of warez_dm from the alpha on the workshop, check it out:

I would expect something not so low res from valve.

I was referring to 97-98 version, not the 2001-2002 version
[editline]25th December 2014[/editline]
also, going onto the old TF2 website, it looks like it would of used a version of the PS2 Half-Life, which supported LODs.

Grats. I know you were having trouble with that.
Everybody have seen that old russian video about the Combine Advisor being re-enabled their AI. I decided to go futher and not only do a new video explaining their functions with a higher quality and 60FPS, but also, fixing and improving the npc itself:

I did the following changes:
-New custom model: Removed tongue so it doesn't appear at their back when recieving damage, has a phymodel (so it has a ragdoll) and two new melee animations made by me (10/10 quality).
-Advisor now follows your movement, not longer floats looking on the same direction set at the map.
-Added a melee attack, so you can't approach him to avoid the props.
-The PinPoint feature, that was disabled, has been reenabled, fixed, and made it pretty (added a beam so it makes clear that is he that is moving you).
-Added some extra Inputs to control the npc.
-Replaced sounds that are no found for others.
-Various fixes/improvements of minor detail.
On the following days I will update his VDC page since it has barely information about the npc and how it works.
And like always, the code and the rest of files are available to everyone, merry christmas and happy new year!
Looks like it could do with an idle floating animation.
The sound of the melee animations made me giggle
A while back, I did some work on the get your free tvs map. Just texture and model replacement stuff. Anyway for some reason this happened. I don't know why but its hilarious.

Add in some more animations as well as additional AI options such as movements/waypoints and we got ourselves a working advisor boss.
Add in some more animations as well as additional AI options such as movements/waypoints and we got ourselves a working advisor boss.
The npc itself was designed to be fixed, since you define in Hammer a levitation zone, and the points where the props will be carried, although it could be possible to make a mobile one (like the unseen npc_combine_advisor_roaming).
I also thought to try make a shield, since their unused particles still there, but I didn't at the end (I could try, I want to attempt at least).
There is another feature that I didn't showed at the video and the Advisor has, is called WrenchInmediate or something like that, and it would be like pushing directly a selected prop to the player, without picking up first. However, regarless of my attempts to fix it, it continues being broken. As soon as you send the input, it will break the physics of the game (props will not collide with anything, will go even outside of the map) and shortly after that, it will crash the game.
