I might be incredibly late, but has anyone ever noticed the similarity between the tripod hopper from rtb and the boomer from alien swarm? tripod hopper: boomer:
That's neat, shame no one ever plays Alien Swarm though. Its also been awhile since I have posted what I have done, [t]http://cloud-4.steamusercontent.com/ugc/34110365646372383/B5E1DFD25F3D662AE057EE7A1C1F100EC3F5D13C/[/t] Those who have worked on the old ms_lab map you remember the crudely made xray's on a wire. Well I decided to create a model for it, I even went as far as to create 3 more xray textures that mimic the beta ones. [sp]no funnies pls they burn like lemon juice[/sp]
they reminded me more of a gonarch.
i'm pretty sure gonarchs were based on the tripod hoppers or vice versa whichever came first
ok i need some input on this: i'm planning on adding a downloads page to the site and i'm not quite sure how it should be layed out. maybe like the movies pages? please say what you think. edit january 31st: downloads pages are live includes downloads for day one, 0.52 alpha, final hours of half-life, further data, etc. still unfinished so far.
It really sucks that this thread has all but died since the forums were merged.
It definitely gets buried a lot faster but I've found its always been a little slow.
"Half-Life 2 was also originally intended to be much more diverse in settings, and the original journey was extremely long (to the extent that the game felt almost overblown, with little time being spent on developing existing characters" The time is right for an overblown Half-Life 2 journey.
i would be happy to work on anything beta/alpha related, for any valve game
Well, right now, there are people working on other alpha/beta versions of Valve games, TF2Classic from the 2007 version, that now it has been ported it to Source 2013, added the other two teams, and several weapons scrapped before, and L4DZero, that wants to recreate the original feeling that L4D1 had before Valve redesigned it.

on saturday, i unprotected ESTILLS.CXT in half-life preliminary findings so it became a .cst file. then i saved it as a .dir file with adobe director 12, ran a script on it, and extracted all the screenshots in their original bmp form. Imgur album of all of them (no titles) Download as .bmp Downlaod as .jpg they all have their original file names, and are in the highest resolution possible
Are there any WC maps that have not been compiled into a bsp, or is anyone up to updating some old maps to look more up to date with HQ models and textures based on the original maps and concept.
Are there any WC maps that have not been compiled into a bsp, or is anyone up to updating some old maps to look more up to date with HQ models and textures based on the original maps and concept.
I'm not sure if all the maps have been compiled and run, but I know there's a pretty hefty guide of all the WC maps out there somewhere. There are a few modding teams here and there who are working on either re-creating the wc maps from scratch, or just fixing them up to a standard.

They added so much details to maps before scraping them, that I find it quite sad. Black Mesa was supposed to be much more high-tech and less industrial. Actually, Some of these stuff are in the retail game, even that one 3D brush ladder in Unforeseen Consequences. And the lighting effects are cool considering how old this picture is:
Are there any WC maps that have not been compiled into a bsp
alyx3.vmf, as an example of a hopelessly broken map. Plus, I'd think a lot of the maps that a more complex, would lack versions of them with all the visgroups enabled and compiled properly. There are dozens of c17_01 or d1_sewer variations, I don't know if all of them got compiled. That is, excluding automatic compilations.

Build 2046 seemed to drop off the radar for some reason....their vk and wix pages went down

If you want to be the best of the best, you MUST make an ultra definition tin can model for maximum immersion! [sp]Really though, it does look rather nice[/sp]

I found another Half-Life preview, circa July 1998 on 3dgaming.net link here I haven't seen the majority of the screenshots (there are 10) but only 5 of them have full sized versions available in the wayback machine. Here are the ones that have full-sized versions: [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/LrWljAG.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/6cQ5Iu5.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/3XZz0SZ.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/ibdTMSe.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/eEkR7G4.jpg[/img_thumb] Here are the ones that only have thumbnails:
Build 2046 seemed to drop off the radar for some reason....their vk and wix pages went down
Not sure what wix is, but the VK page works fine for me. The last update was 21 minutes ago.
The Russian king returns
alyx3.vmf, as an example of a hopelessly broken map.
I believe you ment alyx_caves03 as I or my friend cant find alyx3 in our archives. The map isn't broken exactly, but almost completely burned, there are only two or four brushes that fully intact once you import the brush data into a blank map.

I almost went to check the name before I posted it but eh.
The Russian king returns
You meant tsar?
from what I can tell is that the full VMF was never made, whatever if it was it wasn't fully downloaded from the Valve servers or if it was just corrupted (it's a file from 2002) [editline]4th February 2015[/editline] c17_04_15.VMF is just an empty file with 1 in it
The vmf ends in the middle of a displacement without anything sealing it, so its safe to assume it existed in full form
of course we will never have it or see it
another random screenshot [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/A8y0d3X.jpg[/img_thumb] it's a shame that env_sound doesn't work in source
