well, i think i can safely say the map is 100% completed
before i publish it, i would like to ask again for a better name, because rp_beta_citadel seems kinda boring. if nobody comes up with anything, i'll rename it gm_beta_citadel because that seems more appropriate for this map.
unfortunately, i could not add the citadel core, proto_citadel_garbage, or proto_citadel_advisors.
maybe the industrial stuff could be a seperate map

The industrial maps really look like they could be in the bottom of the Citadel, maybe underground.

How about gm_hive_synth, since I believe the Citadel was originally going to be a synth of sorts.

That logo probably represents the "Spire" Citadel when viewed from directly above.
That's just a random guess though.

I could always give it the old college try, although it would be just my take on it of course. Wouldn't be that many files that I would do though, as it's a lot of work for something that can be done better.
What if the reason why we've heard nothing about Episode 3 is because of the HL2 Beta Leak? Here we are lamenting a lot of content that never made it into the final game, and Valve just decides that they'll show us as little as possible in their next game so that we won't cry as much about cut content
i would call that somewhat accurate, since for hl2 (and hl1 especially) they released a load of videos and screenshots beforehand, and almost all the stuff in them didn't make it into the final product. they probably dont want a repeat of that.
Not really. If they are that much worried about giving us the wrong expectations, they wouldn't have released a lot of pre-release media for ep1/ep2/left4dead 2/portal 2.
valve is just terrible at promoting content that makes it into the final game

Just wondering, are there any cover fire animations for the citizens/combine in the leak? There are animations for popping in/out of cover and animations for cover idle, but no animations for out-of-cover idle or shooting from/out of cover in the retail animations.
Were there animations for that at one point? Because it seems the default shooting animation stance doesn't match up with the end of the cover-exit-to-shoot animation.

how do i compile maps for the beta? i got the old wc included in it set up (csg compile executable field is blank), but whenever i try to compile, i get this error:

The problem is obvious, it tries to copy a .map file rather than .vmf like it's supposed to. You have to use expert mode and set all the commands (vbsp, vvis, vrad, copying the file) manually.
So I discovered on my old external HDD that I had the anon leak since 2009 (whoops).
I tried to get work the leak HLMV, but it refuses as the VProject isn't set. I was going to use the sdk_set_env.bat that is found on the steampipe HL2 bin folder, but then I noticed there's no gameinfo to use with.
How I can use it?

That is odd, the leaked HLMV always worked for me without VProject being set. Are you sure that yours is original?
Just wondering, are there any sounds for the Combine Sniper in the leak? Like, at all?
In the retail files, the only one line I can find that was referenced in npc_sounds_sniper.txt is sn_blockdown.wav, which is located in the misc sounds vpk under the folder npc/combine_sniper.
All the other sounds referenced in the .txt are either missing, the sniper rifle sounds, or sounds used by other NPCs (Namely the Combine Soldiers).

I don't even remember from where I got it. Looking at some files like console.log, it is called "Half.Life.2.Beta-ANON only HL2 100%". It even has the readme saying to use the console and that is not what Valve wanted to show.
I should get the "russian" leak, as it is more complete and with less corrupt files, right?
