Half-life 2 Cut Content - Is it me or dose the cut content look better than what we got?
Possibly, but it would be hard to work it into the story in my opinion. None of the combine tech that we know of uses uranium as a fuel source. Even if it did, the main source of ammo in the game is from picked up dropped weapons and item crates and I just don't see picking up depleted uranium through either of those methods.
The thing is, in the early drafts Combine tech was more crude and closer to human tech, at least what was seen outside the Citadel. Even in retail, their vehicles use diesel or whatnot. So I don't see why couldn't they also use, or at least transfer, uranium. They're interested in all our resources and this is one of most valuable.
As for actual in-game placement, well yeah, that's more tricky. I rather see it coming from special stashes like the missiles. Or maybe, y'know, rebels steal/produce nuclear batteries, this is almost a thing now. Then it could come from regular stashes.
So I just found new screenshots on the overwiki of dog's old model(most of the model is actually the same, only major difference being his head/eye and the wires) which were uploaded in May.

The pictures come from Travis Brady's pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/545991154797216906/
Did anyone else know about this?
I think this is actually pretty cool and exciting because we get to see how dog's old textures from the leak actually looked on him. I've thought about messaging Travis on facebook and asking if he actually still has the old model. According to pinterest, he uploaded those pictures of dog a year ago, so there's a chance those are actually more recent screenshots he took for his portfolio and not old screenshots. If that's the case, maybe he still has the model.
[editline]13th July 2015[/editline]
If anything, these screenshots might be a good starting point to re-uv and change some details of the retail model to match the leak textures
Very Interesting :) any more old hl2 models on his profile?
I would personally attempt to try do the old concept of "recharging" batteries that you found along through the VortCells, so you could use them for later (is this right, or not?).

I think you were supposed to help the trapped vortigaunts, free them, not exhaust and therefore kill them.

Will you be releasing this? And where did you get the old Rocket Launcher model?

Nice, so what is this, is it your own mod your creating?
And where did you get the old Rocket Launcher model?
It's in HLSDK files, along with loads of unused HL stuff
I find the synths really interesting. It's a shame they cut so many out.
Will you be releasing this? And where did you get the old Rocket Launcher model?
its a custom RPG texture by Joebama (or one of his friends) that he released in an alpha/beta pack
It's in HLSDK files, along with loads of unused HL stuff
There's only one .max file which is full of errors and "scrambled" vertices, only working one is the smd file and I never found the old textures only the retail ones, so I'd like to know the source on which version of the SDK to find those textures
EDIT: nevermind, got ninja'd
i could release it, but it has no custom maps or anything, it's just quake (remake) with hl1 alpha reskins.
[editline]25th July 2015[/editline]
although i did make this map:

Actually, you need to use 3ds Max 5. Older versions have problem opening these for some reason.
I remember getting a lot of models from animation MAX files too, including old Gluon model and Alpha Barney too.

It's good enough. Other than the ones you've already shown before, what are the other things you're planning to replace with hl1 alpha stuff?

So the actual alpha rocket launcher model is working? Can you show us a screen?
So far how many of the HL1 alpha weapons are available to us?
i tried replacing the enforcer with the bullsquid and that went about as well as expected
[t]http://i.imgur.com/4B6NcnZ.png[/t]
also i forgot to mention, the hud is custom, and only uses elements taken from the 0.52 alpha.
Will it be possible to mod in the Quiver HUD into regular HL1?
Nice, so what is this, is it your own mod your creating?
Eh kinda, I've been half-seriously creating my own mod for years off and on. I just never took the time to learn hammer and much prefer to code/model/texture stuff anyway so my mod has never really gotten anywhere. I have TONS of content for it like new npc features, some entirely new npcs, new models and animations and stuff, some new textures, but no actual gameplay because I don't like mapping in hammer that much :v:
It's a shame because I actually don't mind the idea of level design at all and in fact, I like it a lot. But mapping in hammer just seems like so much aggravation. I'm trying to build up the motivation to actually learn hammer so that I can put all my years of hard work to use.
Meanwhile, I continue to build new features and such into a logical canon based off of leak materials and raising the bar in the hopes that someday I'll have maps to use them in.

Unfortunately, I lost almost everything I've worked on in 2011. I'll try to scavenge my archives, but won't promise anything.

I can safely say about crossbow, Gluon, taucannon, RPG, mp5, crowbar (which have some obviously temporary anims), and maybe some others. Gotta check.

Don't bother with Hammer, its a waste of time at this point. Go with Source 2 once Valve release that properly in about 5-10 years.
Someone posted this on the Missing Information Moddb page, and I simply don't know what to say to him.

You release a "full" version, that only has 6 broken maps. I needed noclip to progress at some points. That is not full.
And I am guessing you are releasing full versions, since you never say that they are alpha/beta.
Oh well, you did a good job, but you never pushed the mod trough. You just released a weeks (I mean the hours worth working on, does not include free time) worth of fixes and modelling.
It so sad that you do not make this a normal mod. If at least you did a normal first part, it would be ok. That would be more than enough for 3 years to enjoy. Imagine samuel talking to you for 10 minutes. Now you just released snippets that are enough to make you sad for 3 years.
The mod is really really underdeveloped. If you want to do a mod, you gotta do it. Yes, you can drop it, but either you do it or you just go away from modding forever.
So my point: The mod is short and moderate in quality. Its like a E3 Engine Demo, of a 10 year engine.
Yes you did some models, but just doing models and fixes to revive the HL2 old storyline ain't gonna work. You need to put time and effort into it, not fix some parts and release them as a mod. Those parts dont even make sense.
But the borealis chapter was awsome. I would shit my pants if it was realy included in HL2. That chapter is the only good part. Maybe even the best of all the HL2 revivals.
Any ideas?
Edit: I just checked out the comment section and I see a couple of guys have given his comment negative karma, and Maggy_ left him a nice reply. It makes me happy to see our fans still support us for this long without an update.
Just another idiot who has no idea about how much effort and time is needed. I'm surprised he didn't said "I would make a better mod if it were mine".

So, if I'm a regular modder and release my first mod, which would be understably short and without a lot to it, should I go away from modding forver?
This is silly.
Also, 'bout there being six not playable maps, I guess he dl'ed some broken version. Only way to explain all this.
Alright, so I scavenged my files, and managed to uncover some stuff.
First of all, crowbar. Fully working model, and I even found my old YouTube video (which was made back in 2010, way before 0.52 leak).

Then there is an AR model. A strange one, to be honest, using both HEV forearms and bare hands (also somewhat lower in quality).
[t]http://i.imgur.com/RFGJ5Qy.png[/t]
And the last one is this Barney model. Seems it's the one from 0.52, but I didn't had any textures back then, so I just slapped a temporary ones on him.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/kyEE3dg.png[/t]
having a red hev suit and bare hands is no accident, he actually looked like that at one point in development

Now it's time to break out the QuakeC and start actually coding them in instead of them just being simple (and likely broken) model replacements for the default Q1 weapons.

We might as well rebuild the alpha on the Quake engine. Aren't most of the Alpha assets closer to the Quake engine than Goldsrc?
it's not real quake though, it's quake remake on xash 3d (basically just goldsrc)
source code and source files were released for quake remake though

the weapon replacements actually work pretty well, and the nailgun mp5 has the exact same fire rate as the alpha mp5
IIRC GoldSrc is heavily based on Quake1 engine, with some stuff from Quake2 such as ladders.
Is the headcrab being overpowered in the HL1 alpha intentional or was that a bug/test?
Also, despite being planned for a December 1997 release, the 0.52 September alpha only had a few maps and 3 weapons. Is it because it's a press-release version, or is it really that underworked? In fact, all the stuff shown in 1997 are from that version, even in the November 1997 Preliminary Findings preview disc. All the other maps, areas, and weapons are only made when the Ivan was scrapped, Gordon had a red HEV and a green HUD. Is this red HEV version counted as before the reworking or after the reworking?

Remade a model from the HL2 beta, if anyone wants the model, or the high poly model so they can bake their own version, just let me know
