I don't know why, I just think the pistol grip design & the closeness of the scope to the barrel that just looks cool to me.

How's progress on the steam release of MI?
We're getting close to having a clean build (without unused content from any base game) ready on Steam which we will build on top of. We're working on new content along side and some new engine features are making their way which we will talk about later. We want our first release to be more than just 1.6 on Steam. There'll be new content and some old content removed (Rooftops will be gone).
Before anyone asks why, it's because Rooftops sucked ass.

Rooftops is just misunderstood.
I kinda did enjoy it. Then again, I play basically any HL2 mods and even tried HL2OS, for real. It didn't work properly of course. I did manage to record a video of their hopeless representation of the Borealis in which you beat respawning Combine soldiers to get glowing gold coins outta them.
Has anyone actually ever tried to retexture the HMG1? I heard it was in MI, but it used the AR2 as a placeholder if I remember. Did you ever get progress on it?

My guess would be some sort of early scrapped energy meter.
Considering the ammo is at 87 (at least that's what it looks like), it probably wouldn't be the weld balls. Energy meter sounds much more plausible indeed, as I would imagine the ammo cap for the stickies would be much lower.
It most likely used the same ammo as the handheld gauss gun before it was removed.
Does anyone have a link to the video? We could probably see what causes the ammo counter to change in it.

Guess we'll never have it, seeing as people in this community sometimes just choose to hoard knowledge.
