Half-life 2 Cut Content - Is it me or dose the cut content look better than what we got?

To be fair they've made more progress than most HL2 Beta mods :vs:
I love the way the child workers just fucking stand there doing nothing.
I feel like the audio quality has gone down much much more, since I got a headache in the first few seconds. It's like the only video of this mod that just gives me one straight off.

You know, I looked at this and I see what you guys mean by the poor audio quality, I am very sure this isn't how it sounds in game, it seems to be how they encode the video. Now with that said, they are using some really bad stock sounds that don't fit the environment, those sound bad regardless of the quality they are in.
So them making the sound quality really low for bad computers isn't a fair assumption, it is just the video.
In addition to that, I don't think you guys are noticing this but in the first video, there are cuts of custom content as in stuff we haven't seen before in any game. The barrels and plaster walls at the stenographers chasm is what appears outright. I am willing to believe these guys have someone working with them to improve their stuff.
The lighting between the two map versions are fine, as in the tone. The only problem is that the lighting is very diffuse as in not defined in any real way, I would love to talk to these guy(s) one day and help guide them to creating a better environment.

Not to mention the soundtrack + screaming from Vampire: TMB, as far as I can see their main form of quality control is to only copy things from other Source games.

i played the mod itself(even newer versions) and yes its THAT compressed

Actually they DO intentionally compress the sound files because it improves framerate and improved framerate reduces latency in MP. I'm taking their word for it, after all [I]they've made so much progress compared to other mods[/I]~
Also I can't decide what I like more: repeated screams or repeated car alarm going off. Both make so much sense in C17, yeah...
Still, have to admit, this stuff kinda grows on you. For me, it does, at least.

They based it off of SMOD Redux, which has a P90 as one of the default weapons.

There are a lot more references to HL1 in the early scripts it seems. I like seeing what lines made it to the release HL2 too.
Does anyone else like Eli Maxwell's character before he was merged with Vance? I always liked the idea of him being this, like, inventor hobo genius. I also really liked his concept art for how they wanted to portray him, as this bald, bespectacled man with a big beard.
