Am I a bad person for finding Kleiner's death hilarious?
I always imagined the roof collapsing or something onto kleiner, with scanners finding the lab shortly after, when I listened to the audio files as a kid.
Agnmi was working on a multiplayer mod back in the day. It was fun, but kinda shit. Also the tua gun was a broken mess
I actually made a mod back in 2012 ( http://www.moddb.com/mods/half-life-2-beta-deathmatch ). I don't know if I will be working on it again.
[T]http://orig00.deviantart.net/a768/f/2016/056/d/7/vehicles_by_renakryik-d9t41q1.jpg[/T] (click for hooge image) I decided to come back and model some more HL2 Beta stuff, this time, brush vehicles. They aren't 100% accurate, but all I had to work from was some fuzzy pictures. May do the c17 bus, the Airex truck, or the VAB APC next. Rate (optimistic) for the bus Rate (Friendly) for the Airex truck Rate (Informative) for the APC Here's a sketchfab link, where you can view in 3D, and download: https://sketchfab.com/models/6ffc1a64dc2c479e8990da1c1d475603
Amazing work on these, they look really good. I wish the HL2 retail had kept the original car models + undestroyed ones.
[T]http://orig06.deviantart.net/0dfd/f/2016/057/c/5/airex_by_renakryik-d9t644o.jpg[/T] The Air exchange truck. This one was a bit tricky just because I couldn't figure out what it even was supposed to be. My version's some kind of fueling truck I guess? https://sketchfab.com/models/29ace45ed1bf45259e171030d39c2142 Oop, the airex truck had more votes the when I checked, I guess I'll be making the APC next
I think we already have the APC, or do we? It looks like the one you can find on cs_militia in Counter-Strike.

I think I even saw it in some "leak models for garry's mod" pack
For some reason i really do enjoy how the metrocops look in that image.
I'm really glad that Valve made the Combine APC's more alien looking. The leak APC is cool, but looks like something out of Orwell's 1984 or something.

I tried to remake the beta AR2 as a SWEP which has, as far as I know, the exact same viewmodel and animations from the leak version and I implemented the recoil system and zoom feature (kind of). I'm a lua noob but it works. http://www.filedropper.com/hl2betaar2 I got the model from a pack at hl2beta.ru which had the beta AR2, SMG2 (MP7) and an obscure MP5k model called "jaytest" which was a very early prototype of the SMG1 and had custom animations. I don't have a link to it but it's probably on garrysmod.org if you can find it.
http://www.moddb.com/mods/city-test-03 If you want to be a member just I need a coder for weapons and npc,I take care of the rest.
I wouldn't call this AGNMI mod... only I worked on the code, lambda core with unbind worked on maps, the rest people were just drama magnets.
Not true, I totally made these really fucking terrible player model selection icons using gmod of all things. I also did some horrid texture work for various bits and had no idea what I was doing.

I apologize for the awful animations on the jaytest model. It was pretty much my first (and last) try at animation. Also, I was using the XSI mod tool at the time, which would corrupt the animation if I tried to manipulate bones individually instead of using the special handles on the valve rig.
Somebody did actually mention that particular level/feature before, but it was many, many pages ago.
Twas me, I posted it in this thread originally. I even ported it to the current source engine.

Has anyone managed to compile 'wasteland_depot'? I get an error whenever I attempt to compile it, does anyone have a compiled version or does anyone know how to actually compile it?
The displacements on 3d skybox are messed up. Remake them, or just delete.
Ah, thanks very much.
uh, so i decided to write Marc a letter asking about maps that were left behind the leak and his work at valve his reply:
Hi Matthew, I'm afraid I don't have anything else. I can't remember the last time I used a level editor but it was probably during the development of HL2. We had so many good level designers that there wasn't much point in tinkering myself, plus I got frustrated by the fact that my map entities broke with each new build of the engine, and I was worn down by having to recompile them. There was one map, I don't recall the name exactly-something involving a whistler. I thought it would have been in the same directories with ickypop. It started with you walking through subway tunnels hearing someone whistling in the distance, and then manhacks break out and attack, and eventually you're supposed to make your way over a drop with stalkers shooting laser beams at you. Another one that broke so often that I stopped updating it. Best thing about it was that Chia Chin Lee did some custom sounds for it, which means it must have been pretty early in HL2 development. (Chia Chin and I had a lot of fun goofing around with sound effects. Fun fact: He recorded me doing the suffocated/tortured human cries for burning headcrab zombies...Kelly later reversed the sounds and did other processing not them, but our original idea was to make them audibly begging for help.) But apart from the horrible, horrible Chapel Shoggoth map, there's nothing else of mine out there. I did a death match map around HL1 time called cloisters, but I don't think that ever sneaked out. And early on I did a DM map called Alchemy, which was all one texture, for which I endured a lot of teasing... I don't think these survive in any form. They might be on an old floppy somewhere, but if so, it's one I can no longer access.
I miss that old Steam chat sound.
Alright, so I recently got into contact with a former Valve employee through a friend who knew her for quite a while. She likes to go under the name Firefly and she was one of the lead programmers for the Source Engine and Half-Life 2 itself. I got to ask her a few questions, so I thought I'd post the quotes. The first one I asked was Lost Coast's original placement in the HL2 storyline:
"Wasn't my job, I remember it was supposed to be integrated originally near Ravenholm, then it was pulled during the revamp, and then it was dumped, then suddenly, awful 50$ test".
The last one I asked her was about the Gravity Gun's original Asymmetrical mode:
"The original Gravity Gun design that we programmed was much more intensive, allowing the player to rotate the object along the x/y/z axis, but it was found to be to confusing for the player, instead, set preferred carry angels was used to automate the process when needed".
I won't reveal anything more for the moment. Just know that these are said from a former Valve employee.
ask her about [sp]d o t a[/sp] 3
"then suddenly, awful 50$ test" She must be mis-remembering, but LC was free to HL2 owners, and couldn't be acquired any other way. Unless that is what she means, you had to buy HL2 to get it.
