Speaking of old models, is there a v36 model decompiler? The leak is using v37.
If I can remember there is, but it's different from what's bundled with the retail SDK and any model I decompile.
Hm. I don't remember anything about it.
All this recent talk about Citizen 17 suddenly reminded me that I still have mugofdoom's remake model: [t]http://imageshack.us/a/img199/5017/d1trainstation010000z.jpg[/t] [t]http://imageshack.us/a/img20/2856/d1trainstation010001u.jpg[/t] [t]http://imageshack.us/a/img826/817/d1trainstation010002.jpg[/t] [t]http://imageshack.us/a/img707/5682/d1trainstation010003.jpg[/t]
mugofdoom didn't make that though. Essel and I worked on that. It's a terrible model.
Speaking of old models, is there a v36 model decompiler? no offense but I'm with prozak applying one models texture and to another and tweaking a few verts is hardly revolutionary, the end result looks like a mess
Ladies and gentlemen! The reason we don't release anything (read the description). We've seen this happen so many times. Why would we want to risk someone stealing our content clamining it as their own? About 9000 people did this with Missing Information content (including content we've remade from scratch). [t]http://scart.slkandy.com/images/random/cohrt_c17.png[/t]
There's one available on that Russian site, no?
Nah, there's only two model viewers for the versions below 37 but no decompiler.
I liked the original weapons from the leak but other than that the direction they took with it was good.
Because claiming doesn't mean anything, tnose mods are shit and are never released and everybody know where the stuff comes from. Over the years, there's still only one quality leak themed mod atm - Missing Information, everybody knows that. All this talk about claiming and crediting is just a bunch of drama bullshit that always was a HUGE part of leak community.
I know plenty of people that didn't release content because of this. People are ruining it for themselves. Thanks for the kind words either way :)
Nah, there's only two model viewers for the versions below 37 but no decompiler.
Oh. Give me a list of models you need and I'll convert them to version 37. I'm leaving in about an hour so I won't be able to get them to you before Wednesday sometime.

Something I threw together for no particular reason other than I wanted to make my own leak metrocop.

Feeling good about yourselves huh? Its not your content, dudes. Its Valve's content. I could very well steal your Missing Information mod, change its name to Missing Ape-Shit and call it a day. What would you do? Its not your content. The work youve done to fix the maps counts zero shits towards it, and so does my work, and so does everybody's work. Youre still working on someone else's property. Please kindly remove your heads out of your asses.

Funny because then it will be just like Missing Info's metrocop skin.
Funny because then it will be just like Missing Info's metrocop skin.
Oh, then never mind. Wouldn't want to "steal it."
I think it looks fine on the helmet, but the vest is way too shiny.
Yeah, phong works great on metal, plastic, or rubber, but it makes fabric look wet and gross.
Yeah, phong works great on metal, plastic, or rubber, but it makes fabric look wet and gross.
I Agree the metrocop is more figured as a Swat type figure, to take the materials used on a swats uniform. Its more of a scratchy fabric than a leathery texture. A specular map with a replace of a fabric texture whould look great on him I also Agree on changing his eyes to the good old blue, but note to use a glow affect texture inclueded :)
Have there been any leak-related things made in SFM other than the vienna sausages scene?
well I was attempting to bring the map for Get your Free tv's into SFM. though some modles from HL2 final don't want to work right.
If I recall correctly, all you have to do is just compile the map with HDR and it will be working. I'd have a go at getting it into SFM but my computer can't run it at a decent speed.
oh the map works, it's that some props don't show up as static props even though they have the box checked for it. Happens in HL2 as well.
oh the map works, it's that some props don't show up as static props even though they have the box checked for it. Happens in HL2 as well.
Use prop_dynamic_override. Even though the static box is checked, a physics prop can never be static. valvelogic.avi. Use this type of prop that allows physics props to be used as static.

What seems to be lacking is the organisational skills of the lead devs. Good consistent direction would get a mod such as this complete. Another thing is the motivation of team members, alot of mod teams end up with demotivated members starting from the lack of direction from the lead devs and trickles down to certain members who may leave and or not turn in their content which may stall and or halt other developers, they will look to the leads for advice and the lead will say "hang on ill assign someone else to that asset" or "hang on ill hire someone else" but this doesnt happen and or they cant find anyone willing to join the team its hard to get people to commit to such a big project, as you can see this is circular we are back to the bad management aspect of development, but we have also identified the issue of getting dedicated team members. But I have a proposal. Valve develop their games in "cabals" where there is separate teams working in groups on different aspects of the game, a Cabal would consist of modellers and mappers and artists that would work on say the "Highway" section of hl2, their attention would be focused and they would concentrate on getting their "mini game" done while of course other cabals work on other sections. We have literally everything we need to stitch together the old story line, everything is in that leak, we could stitch together a rough draft of the story and its chapters using the leaked maps then split off into groups that would work on bringing these chapters up to a final stage. I know its an ambitious idea but it might just work, and who knows we might end up with an actually complete beta story mod. I am just spit balling at the moment but I would be happy to spear head such a project, if people were interested in contributing of course. Just some background I am capable to work with Source, I can do literally everything, map, model, compile, code in c++, texture, script but what I cant do is everything on my own. First thing that would need to be tackled is the story, we need to discuss the story and a name of course.

What we have of the Beta content is not a cohesive story course; its a mess of concepts. It would be a pain to choose the locations. Palace or Skyscraper? Docks or Trainstation? Which Citadel? The reason this community is so fragmented its because each of these teams have different stories, different goals and different concept choices. I personally prefer the Skyscraper, but theres people who prefer the Palace. And also another factor is that everything is so unfinished. The pain starts when fixing the maps. There is so much stuff out of place... outdated I/O's, wrong model paths, missing models, missing textures, outdated entities, rough gameplay... There are missing maps, and connecting two different levels is a risky process that often ends up with thousands of leaks... Yea, its a pain... only those who really LIKE to do this can arrive at something... I myself am working with some people here on our Beta mod... but if you want to hand us a little help ;)
Really old pre-release screenshot seems to show a female citizen model dressed in the old green civie uniform, to bad we never got these models. I guess this is sort of a grey area of modding. When have you modded something enough to call it your own? We updated a bunch of textures and models but the idea of the models are still the same. Wouldn't that make it ours? Odell is remade from scratch. Isn't that model fully ours because it was based on an idea Valve had almost 10 years ago? Wow, guys. :/ For what it's worth, I've always enjoyed playing the different iterations of Missing Information.

We've enjoyed working on most of it.
