I always hated the walking animation for the cremator model, as the feet mesh seem to be attached to nothing and move independently of the body. Look in the lower left of the screenshot to see what I'm talking about...
I could do some weightmapping to fix it, but I'm too lazy to even work on my leak/retail rebels.

Or completely redo the animation.
The animation can be salvaged, as remaking an animation takes a long time, for me atleast.

Which animation is it, exactly? The cremator has number of them, and the one I'm using is practically ok in terms of the legs. The limping one however, does have those terrible legs.
Also, I'd say that's more of a problem with the coat flaps, they aren't attached to legs bones and so aren't covering the legs while walking.
P.S. Per se, the legs or any part of a mesh can't be 'attached to nothing', they are at least attached to the bones. The answer to the problem might be a) decreasing the range of legs moving b) re-rigging the flaps c) well, yeah, remaking the animation.

Models or brushes?

It always look better a model, although you would have to use one of the same size if you wanna remplace that brush.
That would be pipe03 for the larger one.

That's a bit of a daft question, brushes are nowhere near as versatile as models. :v:

Like making moving trains you can walk in! oh wait.
Brushes fit best when they are under the hood or the base of a map, models are best for detailing that map.

I meant in reference to the example that Glaber was demonstrating, clearly models are better for detailing than brushes.

Oh heres a link to the merged/changed pipes, Pretty much I replaced the prop pipes with brush ones and removed the 45/90 degree turn pipes on the old ones with brush ones that 90% of the time look good.

Like the train you're starting in, in Episode Two amirite?

Something prevented you from clipping out of the train.
there's no real contest here
brushes have the most versability
they also make your game look like quake2
Speaking of this, why hanst anybody tried to make decent, detailed model versions of early Combine hardware?

M.I.'s done a lot of that. But many concepts are only brush-based, which makes it kind of difficult to guess the original meaning.
I wish someone would remake the immolator model though. It looks partially melted as-is.
Off topic, but I'm writing this dressed as a Gas mask Citizen for Halloween. Does anyone want pictures?

what a waste,

I honestly have to say that the tau cannon shouldn't have been cut.
A post somewhere in this thread said it was cut due to play testers saying it was "too loud".
So the tau cannon/gauss gun in hl1 wasn't too loud?
It's a fucking handheld electrical cannon. Why WOULDN'T it be loud?

Valves play testers have been famous for pointing out important game bugs like how while fucking a fleshlight sideways and using the gravity gun to lift a can may be too much for the player.

I saw someone who did the same thing today and confused everyone who hasn't played the beta.
I went Beta citizen as well, I live in a really closed area, half the houses I went to , I got "Well, that's unique."

That doesn't make sense either, I'm pretty sure they could have altered the audio file rather than scrap the entire thing.
The handheld got cut because it's far too OP, you can easily take out a dozen enemies at once with a single fully charged shot by shooting at the ground near their feet.
