• Half-life 2 Cut Content - Is it me or dose the cut content look better than what we got?

I try not to criticize the beta content because it's not finished. I'm sure if it'd been complete and polished it might've seen more approval. Though I'd like to have seen more wasteland action, beta wasteland/coast felt more dead drained and barren, the coast just feels like it's autumn, or transitioning from winter to spring.
I kinda wish Valve used the old shader vmt system in the beta. I believe it was way more descriptive with shaders like.
SphericalEnvMapBlendMaskedBaseTimesLightmap
It was like that because they had separate shaders for everything. Like there were multiple shaders for brushes instead of 2-3 like there's now (see zoo_shaders in the mappack). Pretty sure the average user would get lost pretty fast.
Is VRAD broken for anybody? 2 of my Airex maps, which worked flawlessly, are now fullbright even with VRAD on. No leaks whatsoever, no problems of any kind. Can any of you gentle sould help me? Im kinda mad with this.

Well there's obviously something wrong with the VMFs then. Upload them somewhere and send me a link in a private message, I'll gladly take a look at it. (in before some dumb fuck is going to accuse me of stealing shit)
lol LOL In my custom compile options, I forgot to check the option to copy the damn bsp to the game directory. Of course the maps were fullbright: the compile programs were trying to write the new information onto the old bsp. All working well now, thanks :)

Y'know that creepy ass yodeling found if the Binoculars sound folders? 1:25 mark in this is number station is the source of it.
3:20 is eerie as hell. :tinfoil: Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what the first song is?
Damnit guys, you just made me discover a lot of about secret adio stations, Number Stations and cryptic ones... That's really deep and creepy stuff.
Damnit guys, you just made me discover a lot of about secret adio stations, Number Stations and cryptic ones... That's really deep and creepy stuff.
As a general rule of thumb, the Leak will introduce you to a lot of weird stuff.
As a general rule of thumb, the Leak will introduce you to a lot of weird stuff.
Examples are the 'fake soundttack', where hl2.blendtest is actually an unused Return to Zork medley and hl2.track20 is for the intro of specified game in CD Audio. Three tracks are from Resident Evil (this was probably when HL2 was still in alpha) and 2 more songs. These were most likely placeholders... Future Retro on the other ahdn, is the real fake while Pulse Phase is a longer alternate. And yes, Return to Zork was made and published by the same company, Activision, that does Call of Duty nowadays! (They even published text-based adventure games, which Zork originally was)
The Leak Soundtrack has a lot of oddities. 2 songs are from OCRemix site (which helped me discover some good tracks) and Citadel theme... someone said it was a TVShow theme, but he couldn't remeber which one.
ahem... http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=967501
Oh yes, exactly... And I also mentioned the 'blendtest' song is an unused medley that would've been used for the ending. (Actually, some of the CD tracks for specified game were never used unless for a tuner in the Inn of Issenough. I guess the volume of the audio'd make dialogue inaudible!)
Pretty neat, found it going through my leak files. Wish I could find all the music from the leak

The only 'real' thing is the 'Docks' except for the name, as it was used in the official trailer. And the story behind each of the tracks has been uncovered, what exactly are you calling placeholders? The reason for them being fakes isn't that they were placeholders, but the fact they were never used at all.

You can say they're cut music. But I don't think fake is the right word.
It's fake not because it's not "real" music, it's fake because it is not connected in any way with HL2 Beta.
But how did those "fake" tracks get in there?
But how did those "fake" tracks get in there?
its not in the beta, unless some patch added them in. The unedited beta has none of the fake soundtrack
Im glad the "Leak" soundtrack is fake, because honestly, the only good track in there is the Docks track. Im sure every intelligent Beta modder will go towards different, better soundtrack choices.
They aren't technically fake, because you can still listen to them, right? You can say they're cut music. But I don't think fake is the right word.
What. They aren't fake as music [data], they're fake as HL tracks (or even game score tracks in some cases). I didn't say they didn't exist or anything, I said almost none of them actually belong to the Leak score, one is from the early trailer, and the other is a remix of a track that's newer than the leak. Besides whoever made that pack had kind of a strange, off-HL2 taste. I mean it only a personal opinion, but almost none of them would be good on the actual levels. The 'Citadel' track is, I-I don't know how someone woud've put it in the Citadel, ever. What you said is like saying 'well HL3 screenshots aren't actually fake? You can still view them'. edit Well yeah, everything I said was expressed already half a day ago. Ok.
Oh man, I wish 'Docks' was longer. edit: like many others, i fixed up city_test09

Thread seems to be dying. Ive been working on rebuilding this house from test_lablight [t]http://anonmgur.com/up/f9601219042d14a46104ad8fcfd377a4.jpg[/t] im waiting for the winners
The thread isn't dying, it's just working on VALVe time. But in my part of the progress department... practically none, but I do have this:

"How did you city folk kill Hunters?"
You need to fix the rigging on the radio
