remove that shit tonemap and it might look decent
I decide when something is 'decent'. I remade the map entirely anyway, without rectangular cliffs and all that. I did not ask for promoting anything (nor shall I), so I dunno why OttoGrainer decided to post this outdated stuff. Didn't I post newer screenshots?.. Hm, lots of 'I's in this post.
Well he just wanted to bring up some history on the depots versions.
Yeah, I totally wasn't trying to upset anyone, I'm just interested in all the different takes people have on that one particular concept. I could have chosen plenty of other beta pieces, not just the depot, but I don't have a complete list yet of the other ones I'm following. Plus, the Depot is just an awesome and huge building. To me it was always a great symbol of cold Combine architecture being placed in areas where it didn't really belong. It was one of the things I really wanted a better look at in the game, so seeing all these different detailed iterations from the fans is like heaven for me, including your one. If you want to know my justification for posting it, see below:
These are way too terrible (come on people, you know that. HL fans are just too kind).

remove that shit tonemap and it might look decent
Well see, for the record, I don't actually think it's that bad. I was so excited when I first saw this one, to start with the structure is the most modified and transformed version out of all the others, its height and length have been extended so it's much taller and more alien-like to me in terms of style. The addition to the back section is more closer to the retail version, with the sides and tops opened up more, making it the biggest depot building yet. The colour scheme sets it most apart from the others. I had never seen the Depot depicted at night time before, so it changed the feel of the place dramatically. I agree the desaturated desert tone probably needs a little extra tuning, but I see no reason why it should be dropped entirely. I know Dark Interval is experimenting a lot with the colour tones of their maps in general, which is really fantastic, but the dry and gritty result of this one is definitely in an interesting direction. So, in many ways, I think your version is the most original, elaborate and stylistic of all the other Depot designs. I would definitely like to get these maps from you anyway, if you actually did remake them completely and are not planning to release the older ones.
Or rather, I should've not posted them back then.
Bollocks. They are amazing.
I did not ask for promoting anything (nor shall I), so I dunno why OttoGrainer decided to post this outdated stuff. Didn't I post newer screenshots?..
No, not to my knowledge. I even looked on your Steam and ModDB profile because I was quite hyped for more when I discovered them. Please, by all that is holy, update your mod page or send us some screenshots immediately, I would totally love to see how it's going! Anyway, the other list of stuff I was planning to post (not pictures) is probably too much already for this reply, so I'll post back later.
Wow, just... wow. I thought the hl2 leak community was pretty much dead. But this thread seems to be pretty much alive and well. I just found this thread and read all 48 pages. The complete old d1_lab_01 sequence back on page 24 was incredible. Thanks to danielmm8888 for fixing it up! And realizing that the cohrt model's body was actually the same as citizen 17's was particularly interesting. Has anyone released a complete gasmask citizen using this? Also, way back on page 15 uraredead showed a screenshot of a working v_rocket_launcher model. Does anyone have a download link for it? Also, are there any tools that port v36 models to v37? There's a tool that can convert v31-35 to 36, but there's no model decompiler for v36 models that also decompiles the animations.
Wow, just... wow. I thought the hl2 leak community was pretty much dead.
Has anyone released a complete gasmask citizen using this?
Sorry, not that I know of. But speaking of Gasmask models, I saw this recently and thought it might be a good reference for anybody making progress: Taken from a user's sketchbook thread at conceptart.org. I quite like each design. Shame we can't have em' all. :P
Nice gas mask concept art. I particularly like the one on the lower right. Looks kinda like the elite metrocop. However, what I was actually looking for was an as close to the original as possible restoration of the citizen_17 model as seen in the Get Your Free TVs screenshot, not a high-quality remake. Also, I put together a pack of leak and recreated view models that use the original arms. Thanks to alek for his excellent v37 mdl decompiler. Inculdes view models for the OICW, smg2, guard gun, SLAM, sniper rifle, molotov, binoculars, stunbaton, and iceaxe. Also includes a skin version of the slam model and an optional low-poly mp5k model. This is meant to be used with Missing Information, and includes optional weapon scripts for the mod that rebalance the weapons and make them use the leak weapon and ammo icons. New video! Still a little rough, but I'm starting to tinker with scenes a bit.
Holy cow, that was pretty cool! The music addition works really well. The overall camerawork and visuals may need more refining, but it's miles better than the game version. I also like how you added him entering the white room through the black doorway and then transitioned the scene with inverted colours. Reminds me of the Episode One wallpaper: [IMG_thumb]http://stylefavor.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/half_life_half_life_2_episode_one-wallpaper.jpg[/IMG_thumb]
I wish the Houndeyes and Gargantuas were in Half-Life 2.
I would like to imagine that the Combine enslaved some Gargantuas to act as weapons. Maybe even made a synth out of one? It would be pretty cool to see a Gargantua chained up in a Combine laboratory and it breaking away from it chains to wreck the place up before turning on you.
One of the original opening scripts in Raising the Bar, had a Garg getting run over by a Razer train.
I always thought Houndeyes were cute, I could see them being domesticated.
Houndeyes were originally going to be allies in Half-Life, but playtesters just kept shooting them on sight, so valve turned them into enemies.
I quite like each design. Shame we can't have em' all. :P
Why not, exctly? We can have different models for different, em, types of workers, e.g. construction workers at the building site have some X type gasmasks, at home people put on slightly more comfortable Y type masks, stenographers have respirators as seen on the concept art, rebels have 'more military' masks etc. Or maybe, common workers have one type, and foremans have masks a bit better, like that. Plus their coats can also differ. We can have soldiers and cops with different masks, so why not citizens? Actually, I wonder why haven't I thought of that before. Definetely gonna try it. It is always better to put a few models than have just this one old citizen model everywhere.
Speaking of leak content. Hogsy linked me this just now (probably posted a billion other places on this forum but I don't give a shit).
[t]http://www.chuckejones.com/images/halflife_character_chubtoad1.gif[/t] Shit, this is super cute
It's a shame the docile wildlife was cut from Half-Life. Creatures like Houndeyes and Chumtoads would only attack you if you provoked them and possibly befriend you after a certain part of the plot.
I saw the Weather Control on the Half-Life Wiki, and decided I would try to make it in Hammer (as it never was made into a map, as far as we know). [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/ztkdTio.jpg[/img_thumb] Thread here.
I can help with the aesthetics of the map.

You're definitely making progress on it. I can't wait to see what else you come up with.
Also, they have such long tongues!
And I haven't seen cheeks and lips shaped into porky excess for comedic effect in half a decade or so - the last time I'd seen a dumb grin as well-endowed as that was in an early Cartoon Network series, and that, too, so you'd shut up and take your sadism and absurdism after it without weeping over the premise.
Who would have thought that Half-Life, of all places, would be the source of this "porky excess for comedic effect"? LoL This page is full of images, it just makes me happy.

Here's a viewmodel for the hopwire: download [img_thumb]http://i57.tinypic.com/2qa8oir.jpg[/img_thumb]

Anyone else here finds the progression of the terminal in general fascinating?
Anyone know if there is a proper brushwork/model for these textures? Or they doesn't have a model? [t]http://i.imgur.com/DbWfEe8.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/2ugUvi4.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/dyl9kOj.png[/t] Also what is the car name of the first screenshot?

I found a partially made version of that car floating outside of the map on cave_canyon08 (a map from 2000!). Other than that, I haven't seen a full version of that car. [IMG_thumb]http://i57.tinypic.com/dmsp6w.jpg[/IMG_thumb]

The current HL2 Hammer doesn't work for me. Or are you using Worldcraft?
