"Just put in your credit card number and Steam password and you're free to use this!"
Are you serious? Let me just once again point out that the source code is RIGHT HERE for anyone to look through.
Not gonna get it anyway..
Then please don't make judgements on things that you don't understand. Feel free to use an alt account to test it out.
If he was trying to phish, I doubt he'd make a program that only appeals to a smaller crowd than programs that give away 50 buds or shit like that. Let's use an analogy, if you're trying to steal credit cards from idiots, are you going to open a twilight fan-store or a Chess store? But OP, if you're seriously wanting to spread this program, a tip of mine is to post here a little more, that way you get some moderate trust, considering any Russian can sign up here and drop a program that steals your account.

I would tell you that you need to disable it instead; after all, even if I knew your username and password, what good would it do if Steam Guard was enabled? Why would I go through the trouble of making this post, typing it up, creating an ACTUAL WORKING program and taking SCREENSHOTS of it for you? If I wanted to phish I could easily create a login page that looks exactly like Steam's.
would a trade between Mist and Mist doable?
Unless Valve publicly mentioned something about the validity of this client, I wouldn't use it.
would a trade between Mist and Mist doable?
Yes, but you have to make a copy of the folder first, otherwise the second instance of Mist will crash because it will be trying to write to the same log file as the first. So run /folder1/Mist.exe and /folder2/Mist.exe and you'll be good to go :) I'm already planning an update to fix this problem.
Unless Valve publicly mentioned something about the validity of this client, I wouldn't use it.
I talked about this in a post here, but I will write the comment here as well. Have you ever heard of TF2wh.com or scrap.tf? Mist works very similarly to that, especially in regards to scrap.tf as their bots are designed using the same underlying framework (SteamBot). While action has been taken against TF2wh.com before, none of the accounts have ever been banned. As far as I know, Valve doesn't mind this kind of client, as long as it "doesn't give advantages over other users" (http://www.jengerer.com/item_manager/) - see email from Robin Walker (http://www.jengerer.com/item_manager/email_valve.png) That said, I've already contacted Valve and I'm waiting for a reply.
I've already contacted Valve and I'm waiting for a reply.
Right beside you, hoping it's good news.
Looks awesome Can't wait till it shows friend request, because that's very important for trading. Also a notification sound when a request appears would be very helpful. Current steam doesn't support that, and I sometimes miss a trade because of that Then I will defiantly use this over steam
I can just chuck an installed Steam (without the steamapps folder) onto a 4gb USB and use that instead. Not to say that your program isn't neat, but I don't trust anybody with my steam details, especially not a program from someone I don't know.
Cool project, wanna see it further develop. Also i made an concept for fun, send me a PN if you want the PSD.
There is a better client, and It's called Steam.
There is a better client, and It's called Steam.
Do you really want to start an 50MB application which writes into registry or an lightweight exe with ini files on a other pc than yours?
There is a better client, and It's called Steam.
This client isn't meant for your every day desktop usage. More for portable usage and such.
OP, i trust your application. However, there will always be people who are skeptical despite the available source code to review. To gain more recognition i suggest posting this as a thread on SourceOP, SPUF or r/tf2. While SPUF might have some immature kids, there are lots of experienced people there too and it gets much more views than here.

I've also posted it on /r/tf2 (http://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/1ahkod/psa_take_your_trading_with_you_wherever_you_go/) SourceOP is a good idea though. I'm wondering if the name has any meaning.
I'm wondering if the name has any meaning.

Haha, I never knew that. Mist is a different type of Steam, literally. Both are water vapour :)

*quote-explanation*
Right. Obvious.
this might be redundant, but is it possible to use this without entering password etc if there is a steam already logged in? sometimes i might want to use this in case steam not responding (well not sometime i think, everytime)

The people that don't read/understand the OP are getting annoying. Good project, I've been in situations where using steam was not an option. Having the sourcecode for this might come in handy for a project I've been thinking about.
I'd love a trading interface for Mobilephones.
I'd love a trading interface for Mobilephones.
Yes
I hope you're not too blind to notice that the source code is RIGHT HERE for anyone to look through. Compile it from source yourself if you don't trust the executable provided.
I dont wanna risk being hacked by some guy who signed up to steam to only post this.
I dont wanna risk being hacked by some guy who signed up to steam to only post this.
Would you stop? Noone's forcing you to use this, why are you trying to kill it?
I dont wanna risk being hacked by some guy who signed up to steam to only post this.
Wow, I didn't think stupidity would sink this low The source code is right there, look through it, it's not that hard
