Take a look at the Tom Clancy games. Rainbow Six Vegas 2 has a good two player coop campaign and 4 player terrorist hunt.

Your AI team mates are retarded so you basically have to fight the war by yourself. It also takes forever to rank up, as stated above, which greatly restricts what you have access too.
I've held a line against an entire enemy force for up to half an hour with no ability to push forward because the AI were too stupid to move up and kept crashing into burned out cars. I imagine it gets better once you have a high enough rank to command multiple people, but until then you're grinding kills in a losing battle.

This is a new trend I've noticed. But in most cases they also remove the original version of the game so you [I]have[/I] to buy the more expensive "definitive" edition.
Sadly (or not) this time around I don't have any big titles to look forward to and the only games I'd buy would be some lot-tier from my wishlist or:
