Haxus was a terrible game designer that managed to actually come up with something nobody had really done before.
Basically an ideas guy that got off his backside and tried to do shit...
Haxus would probably hate doing a kickstarter. He really hates the feeling of "owing" anything, especially to his playerbase. He's already treated the game he was making, an mmo no less, as if there was no playerbase and made comments now and then about how much he hates everyone so. Also judging by some wayward comments he's made over the years he's a diehard conservative and kickstarter is just a cancer killing hard working american's jobs, or something. if he even knows kickstarters exist, that is.
there was no playerbase though. it was facepunch and a couple of russians i doubt more than 60 people were on at any given time
Rest in Piece, Shores of Hazeron. You were a buggy, strange and occasionally awful game, but we loved you. Let's hope something better somehow fills the void you once filled.
Haxus was a terrible game designer that managed to actually come up with something nobody had really done before.
The most prolific comment you will ever hear about this game is "it had potential". What people really mean when they say this is "SoH was shit but the idea could go somewhere". Sadly it never did and because Haxus is holding the source code, it never will. That source would have been a great gift, but now it's just Haxus' final "fuck you" to everyone.

Anyway, I wonder when Haxus realizes that unless he releases the source code, wants to start working with other people or get investors he might just as well consider all his work to have been for nothing. Unless you can make a standalone piece of work like a book or short movie you'll never get anything finished.

I don't have any comments of his in screenshots (and since the forum got blasted, can't get screenshots), but the manual section on taxation sort of hints towards his views.
I know the page you are talking about, and I can confirm it goes into a tangent about fiat currency and banks.
i guess i shouldnt have waited to try this game rip

Strange how this thread is more active in death than it was in life.
i present to you the fastest ship from the old universe: it could go through stars and survive, it broke the speed limits, it was unstoppable. (painted red to go faster)
but every ship could go the same max speed. Or well, close enough. i flew through several celestial bodies in my huge max size freighters that filled up the entire designer's x and y axises.

Or well, close enough. i flew through several celestial bodies in my huge max size freighters that filled up the entire designer's x and y axises.
Max acceleration was a huge factor, though. My regular flagship had awful acceleration at something like ~180m/s^2, while my later ships of the same TL had ~400m/s^2 acceleration, which dramatically cut down on travel times.
Strange how this thread is more active in death than it was in life.
It's like a funeral where the whole family shows up, even those family members that haven't been seen for ages. Everyone's mourning and remembering the good times.
Syndicate has so many good stories and good times in Hazeron. We're sticking together and we'll remember them. Hazeron will live in our memories.

God damn I wasted so many months on this game. Angus's Ring was a particularly fond memory. Getting my empire taken and then the French empire helping me take it back. Joining empires so I could log their coords and invade them. I will never get over this game until a new hazeron comes along.
On the bright side, Haxus finally managed to release a functional update. RIP Hazeron.
On the bright side, Haxus finally managed to release a functional update. RIP Hazeron.
Like someone said in the forum before it shut down, 4 months warning before reset, 60 seconds warning before utter annihilation.
come play with syndicate. we're kind of the refugee spot for hazeron players now
Feel free to meet up with the facepunch hazeron coalition. We're friendly. Somewhat.

Somebody in this thread linked that Ascent game and I thought that might be kind of fun but my ship just constantly spins around. I thought it might be my X52 fucking with me (it does that a lot) but I didn't see any joystick options nor any improvements on unplugging the thing. Kind of a bummer. With all its talk of making colonies and being a spaceship and all I thought it a decent substitute for Hazeron for the time being.

I also try it at the moment, but to be honest, it is not a substitute to hazeron because it feels like instanced when always clicking the "warp to" button. There also is not a "real" surface exploring. I found something much better but still in Alpha (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/enomi/xeno-galaxies). It didnt pass the Kickstarter but got steam-greenlight meanwhile. Just click around over steam to download the demo, coz i didnt find the right link fast now. It has "potential" but thats the common description for hazeron as well. Sadly there is nothing to fill the gap.... I am digging the Internet about similiar indie-games since hazeron quit and i am happy for any Suggestion from this Forum concerning a possible alternative. First I thought Haxus did find something similiar like his Project in the deep of the WWW and he ragequit his Project because what he found was better ;) I searched a lot before about alternatives coz the graphics was a really crucial Point for me... nothing found...
Ikkir is going to see Haxus. I'm going to hold onto a little optimism this isn't the last we see of Hazeron, even if it changes from what it was.
At the very least I hope he can persuade Haxus to be realistic about his releasing the source code. Hazeron could become better than it ever would've under Haxus if he just released it, IMHO. Could cite something about legacies or revolutions in the industry or other pretentious things.
Never thought i'd see someone else post my video, but then again this IS the hazeron thread.
I was going trough some Hazeron videos on youtube when i stumbled over your video, i know i have seen it before also, the planet/star gazing along with the nice soundtrack displays some of the hazeron magic me thinks. Did a lot of gazing myself quite often, the scenery was quite beautiful, even if the graphic was quite simple. [editline]20th August 2014[/editline] Images from my first city in Hazeron which i called "Heart of the Tiger" in the Kilrathi Empire. Joined Hazeron for the first time on the 1 of April 2013. Later the Empire was abandoned for a while due to system lag, could join but moved like an inch every 10-15 mins maybe, at most. It remained so about a week until the servers was restarted, in the mean time i joined my brothers empire and worked on that. I visited the Kilrathi Empire from time to time to keep it alive, and it lasted until the universe restart on December 31. It consisted of only one Solar system. Also, some of the old buildings which had no interior or mass can be seen on the pictures. Also my precious shovel.
There are so many games about that are all about space exploitation and/or shop building but none of them come close to hazeron. The whole idea of starting from fuck all, working your way to a city and then space is totally unique to Hazeron.. Is there no way of anyone hosting a server of kinds or is that forever locked away with Haxxus and his source code?
