Out of interest; I always saw people complaining about Syndicate, but why?
Everyone always hates the big Empires. I personally don't know why though since a big power means nothing in a game where no one can find anyone unless they wish to be found.
Out of interest; I always saw people complaining about Syndicate, but why?
Because we were in it for fun. They either weren't or were the source of our fun. That and our pr wasn't amazing but we didn't care because people getting mad at us gave us good fights and that's what we wanted. Also people hate big empires.
Out of interest; I always saw people complaining about Syndicate, but why?
We had rather a lot of wars due to our political web of allies and enemies, and we were one of the very few empires in a position to project power anywhere in the galaxy; and in fact I believe we were the only empire which specifically organised our fleets into carrier battlegroups to allow for extremely rapid strategic deployment - which meant that wars with Syndicate were virtually a death sentence unless you gave into our demands. A few empires got mad that we blocked them from attacking our allies, a few empires got mad that we straight up beat/eclipsed them in power and a few empires got mad because they spouted anti-Syndicate sentiment then got surprised when lasers started raining down from orbit within a day. One thing to note though, is that we had a LOT of friends, but the people we were enemies were mostly really mouthy.
Syndicate was the best ally my little one man empire ever had. In past universes I would try and get the protection of one of the big empires but it never really helped, someone would eventually come and curbstomp me. I never had issues with Syndicate, I think it was mainly because the idea of Syndicate coming to wreck them if they wrecked me made attacking me less desirable. I miss hazeron. Hopefully one day it will come back, or something similar will exist, without all of haxus' stupidity and strangeness.
Haxus seems to have resurrected the Gravity Well series! Aw, new accounts are disabled. Was going to have a little fun there as the first poster, those forums are empty except for haxus. On the old forums, we posted some stuff about ainb's old exploits, which he then denied, then we posted proof, which made him mad enough to devolve into a screaming manchild and he ended up calling haxus to have the forums taken down as well. Was good fun, ainb is a screaming douche.

Cant wait to see the posts that will appear on the new forum!. If he dear open it. haha. Haxus closes the game in 60 seconds with no message before hand to the people "having fun playing". Then comes back after 6 months acting like nothing happened. Even the game was playable free of charge and a "hobby" of his he could atleast... i mean....not to be a screeaming douche myself but... jeeeezzzzzzuuuss .. come on.. guess im still in some kind of shock... Anyways, definitely gonna try out Graviy Well 6. Always liked the series. Simple fun made harder with this new game i guess.
I love how he removed pretty much everything I played Hazeron for. I played Hazeron for first person walk-able spaceships and infinite exploration of planets and space and the like and exploring the different life on planets and building cities and basically having it as space life simulator. He removed all of that and left the boring stuff in.

When playing on line, each player account starts with a balance of zooleks. More zooleks can be purchased on the Gravity Well web site for on line play. When playing solo, the player begins the game with a new balance of zooleks.
http://gw.softwareengineering.com/m_modules.html So he plans for it to be straight up pay to win. Hilarious. I hope you guys have your wallets ready! ~corroborating inside sources~ have also informed me that he's also planning an initial purchase price, in addition to the micro transactions. And greenlight. RIP sides.
~corroborating inside sources~ have also informed me that he's also planning an initial purchase price, in addition to the micro transactions. And greenlight. RIP sides.
thats hilarious... my sides are in orbit.

Its just a conquest game, battle for this and that sector, in Soh at least, one could exist peacefully together. I will probably will buy the game though, just because i miss Soh, but that's it!.
I will probably will buy the game though, just because i miss Soh, but that's it!.
Why, why would you ever give haxus "i hate my userbase" any money ever.
Why, why would you ever give haxus "i hate my userbase" any money ever.
Yea, i know..snuff.. but i just miss Soh...Damn that Haxus to hell. But if this may even light a star for Soh, even a little bit off a possibility to bring it back, im in for it. There is also the "other game concept", wonder what that's gonna be..
out of interest, which parts did everyone like about hazeron?
out of interest, which parts did everyone like about hazeron?
EVERYTHING!!!!. Design your own species, form an Empire, build towns that grow into Cities, Research technology, gather resources, DESIGN your OWN Ships, Make Warp Capable Ships, Explore systems, Find better resources, make better stuff, Make money and buy stuff....and the list just could go on and on.....just loved EVERYTHING about IT!!! You could stargaze in the thing for gods sake!! :) The game was highly addictive! on that way.
out of interest, which parts did everyone like about hazeron?
I always loved the ship design part. I could, and have, spent entire days just designing ships for no good reason.
thats hilarious... my sides are in orbit.
Good to see Haxus still has delusions of grandeur.
out of interest, which parts did everyone like about hazeron?
The journey from rock-smashing barbarian to emperor of space with naught but one's own limbs. Being able to mess about at every level of interaction, like personally building stuff, operating starships, invading planets etc, or just slapping down some plans and telling your citizens to get it done. The ability to customise pretty much every facet of one's empire's appearance in starships, buildings and actual species. Exploration of the procedurally generated universe, especially the 1:1 correlation of stars in the night sky to actual stars. [editline]23rd January 2015[/editline] The actual combat was a bit pants though, especially if you wanted to command the AI. Grapbics were dreadfully dated, especially in life-forms. Not looking for AAA-quality graphics engine budget sinks, but at least not e.g. limb joints that seemed to have been created before any sort of deformation of polygons was possible; even Quake could manage it.
You know what I miss the most though? Targoss.
The whole designing ships and being able to walk around them in first person is what attracted me to Hazeron.
I was attracted by all the space exploration parts. But I stayed for the sundives :v:
The game is the same as almost every other space game now, and there are way better things around with better quality / balancing / gameplay overall that does the exact same as Gravity Well. There's nothing special about GW, there are lots of things special about SoH.
SoH will always be one the best game experiences for me. First time I found it here on FP, I played the whole night, reading through the wiki up and down, building my first city, made a lot of mistakes during that but after 10 hours of work I finally built my first rocket. The sensation of taking off from the planet was probably the best feeling I had in a game in ages and it didn't stop there, designing my first real ship, managing colonies, exploring and all that made SoH one of most favorite games ever. I never bothered much with other empires or wars, just expanding and building/designing, that was SoH for me.
My friends and I had this conversation a while back, and we came to the same conclusion; the best part of Hazeron was it's concept in general. It basically said "Hey! Here's a knife! Now go to space!". Hazeron was like Spore, only done (mostly) right. It also had a bit of everything for everyone; city building, first person shooter, space combat, real time strategy, trade, exploration, ship and building customization, etc. Lets not forget the scale, the ringworlds were larger than most maps in other games, All the funny quirks and bugs with the game (lovecraftian mobs, planets with orbits that take them inside stars, limbo, etc) and events (darkshadowfox's demise) just add to the memorability to the game.
Haxus needs to stop Aye fly into sunning.
While I'm sure it's cool to be working on a space game that can be 'complete' in a reasonable amount of time, and much less stressful to work on, I'm not sure what Gravity Well will really accomplish. Hazeron was special, there's nothing else out there that can fill the void Hazeron left behind. The excitement of finishing your latest flagship design after upping your TL, then exploring the galaxy with friends and encountering all sorts of crazy shit that could never happen in other games... Lots of fun, and lots of stories came out of Hazeron. Also, have a random hazeron vid I had floating around on my harddrive from my last empire. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUKdH5bkBPo
why would haxus even think he would get any money off a stripped down hazeron? I don't know if there are even enough people that would like a game like gravity well to turn a profit.
I would easily drop down 20 quids to support Hazeron. This new game, however... Like, seriously. I know so many people that would pay for a game like hazeron, no matter how broken or buggy it was it's not even funny.
