Aw, fuck! I actually had free time these days! DAMN YOU HAXUS!
I heavily suspect that the whole reason behind the lag was the fact that we had 23 or so massive galaxys
Awesome news, I congratulate whoever managed to convince him to bring SoH back.

Guess we're going to find out.
If you guys form a solid facepunch empire this time...
... Syndicate will keep you level with our tech, so you should get TL32 in a few days.

On the condition you misbehave.
I only found out about this game a few days before it got shut down.
I can't wait to actually try it out.
I still think 8100 sectors is a bit big. I was hoping something under a thousand.
I still regret not playing this as much as i could have, but now we have a second chance! This is gonna be great!
I'm glad someone was able to talk sense into haxus. The scale of the game was ungodly, and I doubt even 1% of it got used.
Wait a moment, is this game back?
not yet
What did CAS in NeoCAS even stood for?
Close Air Support
And that's why we're renaming the empire to The Devil's Avacados.
Time for me to think of a new empire name and flag. Roleplaying the Ori was amusing for a short time, but I never reached a tech level where building their motherships was feasible.
Wonder if this version is going to use the old modular system or the new AutoCAD wannabe.

Does that mean "The Devil's Avacados" is Neo NeoNeoCAS?

IIRC Haxus said it'll be the former because the latter was so unstable and bad.

No, NeoNeoNeoCAS will be Ayy98%DankMeld.

Conglomerate of Aligned Systems, or Stars, I can't remember exactly.
I'm tempted just to call the new empire "Limbo.avi" and be done with it.
:v:
There could only be 1000 systems and I wouldn't care. I just want to see Hazeron re-balanced if we're going to be on such a small scale. Also, will he still be trying to implement the modeler for making ships?
Aw yiss this fucking game again.
I think 20x20x3 sectors at an average of 10 density per sector (15 middle, 8 upper/lower) could work. That's 12,000 systems, which is probably enough for everyone.
Every new player spawns a new planet, that way #planets=O(#players) would work...
The smaller universe probably is good thing in almost every way. some examples: less server load, shorter travel times, and hopefully less time spend flying around for good quality resources or ring worlds

how would that work with empires though? or joining to play with other friends?
would you need to completely set up a civilization and become space faring, then go and take a stroll in the great expansive limbo fields to find your friends?
obviously there's the good old empire invite/teleport trick, but then you'd end up with a bunch of empty generated planets. and then what if someone just made a ton of alt accounts simply to generate planets?
Err, not planets, systems.
If you want to join a friend, choose your spawn to be in their empire.
Let's folks who want to generate planets do so, it'll help balance out large empires with little room to expand.
A smaller galaxy means more social interaction. It would still take you a long time to explore a 10,000+ systems, even if you spent every minute flying to a star.

The game wouldn't be updated at all though, but it's still nice to have it back in a smaller scale.
Oh shit, it's coming back. Count me in, I miss my days of running with the Toucan Empire :v:
I remember having my own little empire with fairly high tech for the length of time it was around. I remember I had a fuckton of defense lasers and I had a fleet patrolling the system all the time.
