He needs to forget all the laughable forced monietisation stuff and set up a Patreon account for Shores of Hazeron. It has a pretty enthusiastic and dedicated community that would chip in a fair amount of money. It would just be up to Haxus to optimise the game so he can run it with a fraction of the current costs.
Yea if he were to ask for money he would probably get it.

he REALLY doesnt want to have to "owe anything" to his community. he wants to see his game development as a clearcut transaction, give him some $ and you get something clear and defined. That was a major component of his rant back in the day. If you can, you should convince him to do this, though.

though it just occured to me it might backfire horribly and he'll give out ridiculous effective p2win awards to patreon backers that defeat the purpose of having a game. Then he will go on a crazy rant about all the ~assholes~ in his community who leech of the good and pure patreon funders. How dare they submit a bug report without also paying haxus money, etc.
This news make me happy. Hopefully Haxus doesn't fuck up though, but what I read so far is good news. Just making a small galaxy for us and fixing ships and keeping the wonder movement lag fix and let us be until he's ready to actually work on it. Looking forward to seeing what happens.
Website is back and renewed: http://www.hazeron.com/ Forums work again, you can login with your old accounts.
Apparently Haxus is going to have the game back up sooner then we thought. He is also going to add a 10$ subscription fee later on, also a donation button.

A required 10$ subscription?

Most likely: http://gw.softwareengineering.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3&start=150#p486
edit: Servers are back up: http://shoresofhazeron.com/status.php Login accounts don't work tho. The Hazeron launcher will work again if you have it.

Man I was really excited but $10 a month seems a bit much to me for what is essentially an unfinished product.
-wops im late-

An excellent image asset.
Rest in Pepperoni Hazeron. May you be baked finally in a glorious sun dive.
Whichever way you want to take this, if haxus doesn't receive enough money he's said servers are going down again regardless. I dont know what his plan is after that, maybe it's a bluff or maybe he's actually planning to leave games dev for good.

Aaaand like that, it died before it was even brought back to life. Hazeron didn't even have that many players to begin with, putting an unfinished game behind a subscription paywall is the fastest way to get rid of the few that even care.
The issues with paying $10 a month for this is more due to the fact Haxus said he was going to continue working on GW, and a third game and just have this running basically with it not being the main focus. This means any issues that occur will just stay there. Unless he's changing focus to this because as far as I can tell GW wasn't worth the time and effort; using the leaderboards as the base of how many people purchased GW he's made less than $100 on it.
I knew Haux couldn't release a working update if he tried. Welcome back Hazeron.
So Hazeron is now Pay2Play and he won't bother with actually supporting the game. I think I have to pass. Buy once to play maybe but a subscription for a game in the state of Hazeron, no thanks.

The thing I'm not certain of is if he's actually just going to flat out abandon Hazeron. GW obviously didn't do well enough so he's either trying to skin as much as he can off his Hazeron base this one last time, or he's going to shift back into this knowing GW isn't worth it.
And there goes any and all hope I had of ever playing this game again.
Because a sub is something that just kills everything for me -.-
It's pay2play now?
No.
No!
NOOOOOOO!
I'll say it, I hope someone swipes the idea from under Haxus. Because if Gravity Well is anything but an April Fools joke, Hazeron will most definitely be complete and utter shite under Haxus.
Called it, even if we all knew it would happen.
Here's hoping Haxus gets completely demoralized and realises he's a complete and utter failure.
I wonder if SoH will even have 5 players on at the same time.
Server Status:
No Players Online.
Yep, he fucked it up.
he should stop treating his game as if it's just like any other.
It's too different to support a payment model not based on donations. A lot of people have no intention at all to pay (and thus play) now, and the ones that do realize they'll be all alone in the game which defeats the point of playing it in the first place.
[editline]15th February 2015[/editline]
I assume one of two things to happen when he realizes pay2play doesn't work:
1: SOH becomes free to play again (with donation button but nothing wrong with that)
2: he goes mad again and shuts it down again

The guy is a fool, he acted like a child while Hazeron was running and let some family member or whatever be admin in the game and that kid would run around and abuse fucking everything and nobody could say anything against that kid without all hell breaking lose from both Haxus and his relative. I forgot their name but I heard several stories of some admin fleet suddenly appearing and fucking the shit out of everything at places where people Haxus's relative didn't like.
That is at least how I remember it was when I played a while back. I could take the lag because I was used to everything having abysmal FPS, but I could not take the administration related drama.
And now he is trying to charge money from this steaming pile of horseshit he turned the game into? Jesus christ.
See, a payment or subscription would have been reasonable to ask when he was actively developing the game. This is just backwards.
There is no way in hell I'm paying $10 a month to play SoH, let alone with it being on life support the whole time.
Also in the thread where he says there will be a sub everyone is sucking his dick. Not a single person has yet told him his game is simply not worth $10 a month. No wonder this guy spergs out, everyone tells him he's the greatest guy around and then he's left totally surprised when people get upset about shit.
I could accept a one-time payment, but forget a subscription.

It's been long enough anyway, I'm over Hazeron now.
$10 a month for a game that's going to be on the backburner anyway for god knows how long, he must be mad.
Would be nice if someone made a competing game on the same concept that made Hazeron special, but that's probably even more of a pipe dream.
Hazeron is fun, but not $10/month fun. I'd rather pay the extra fiver for EvE monthly.
I'll pass.

Fuck $10/month I'd rather play Runescape
