For your very first city, does anyone actually plan that shit out so everything is nice and neat? I mean unless I make miles long stretches of road into the wastes I have too many resources clustered together and thus have had to make all kinds of structures next to each other. Future cities won't have the problem of acquiring resources as I go so they can be planned accordingly, but it really does bother me when I look at my city to see houses scattered about with no central housing district.
I had to make some very long roads north and south of my city to find a lot of resources. Eventually you'll have to do it anyway. After one day, I reorganized my city and moved my mines and farms to the outskirts because I wanted a real downtown district. Also, having all similar industries in the same area helps a lot with the organization.
I really should reorganize my city, I just don't want to.
Now how do I 1) reliably land on a planet, 2) get more than I can carry to that planet? I don't understand how to withdraw items my city has made. And I keep crashing into planets, except for my moon which appears to be entirely composed of water.
i just wing it, i think it ends looking pretty organic that way.
Protip: Off one resource you can put 3 buildings. It's tricky and takes some practice, but greatly improves efficiency regarding land area taken up by a city. This is extremely helpful with scarce resources such as oil. If there are two of the same resource very close, the most I have been able to get was 5, instead of an expected 6. This was simply because they were too close for the last building.
Another angle on my city, looking south from the north:

I sort of just let my city organically grow until I could leave it overnight, and then once I could afford it I rearranged everything into different districts. I used a loose grid system with an industrial district, residential district, and commercial district. On one side of the city outskirts I put farms and mines and on the other I put the spacecraft factory, observatory, and more mines and oil derricks.
Once the original clusterfuck was stable I run a long road out into a field of nothing useful and stick all the housing and morale buildings onto it. Nearest flat zone becomes the airport slab central, and to the rest according to their resources.
I just plot out roads and sort've cluster similar industries or buildings together.
Put all the buildings you need to interact with, like the bank, industries, shipyards next to or around the town square. Makes colonies easier to manage when you have transporters.

This is pretty much exactly what I did, too.
What's the max population of a planet of 13,300m diameter? It's my homeworld, if that has any relevance. The wiki doesn't seem to list the pop cap for that size.

i might go through and complete some of the pages at a later date.
closest one i see is 700*3 with a max of 2100.
Quick question because I forgot: After pressing backspace while inside a ship, how do I switch between the plan view and the proper external view where I don't see all the different rooms?
Anybody else having trouble connecting?

It's "=".
Then again you asked that like 30 minutes ago so I bet you figured it out by now :v:

I got troubles with the game itself. I can't chat or eat food, or do any action, or receive any text or anything. Just walk/sprint/jump around.

This happens sometimes. Restarting the game seems to fix it for me every time.
Just hope you don't get stuck in limbo.

You can just make out my city from under the innumerable clouds that cover my world.
There's some guy called Izhad who comes by our Vawpox ringworld and hails every once in a while. Is he someone we know and should we trust him?
[editline]fuckin'[/editline]
Welp. Turns out it might be a pirate with really shit luck who got a weaponless design. Fuck, I was hoping to pull out my propaganda skills.
Is it an AI officer?
So what I thought was a moon turned out to be the eighth planet in the solar system. My planet (the seventh) doesn't have a moon.
All the moons appear to be in orbit of the gas giants reaaaaaaally close to the sun.
Now that I have my own empire up and flourishing, I think im going to see what it is like under another empire. Probably going to join the Tempora Galifreus or whatever its called.

what's your steam profile? the steam name linked to your account on FP doesn't work.
Rapist and me are leading Tempora Galifreus.
Do I have to DO something with metal bullion in order for it to increase my personal wealth?
I have people producing some in a factory, but how do I actually use it for myself?
Bullion increases the city's wealth, which the empire takes taxes from. You only have access to the empire's funds, but you can confiscate the wealth of your people for a loyalty hit. It gives a percentage directly to the empire, from which you can withdraw from.

Tax/Confiscate then withdraw government money from a bank.
Is there a way to reset the star map thing showing all the sectors? It first showed a sector which someone lives in, but now it suddenly does not.
What do I do if the cost of research for a building at the university keeps flickering?
