There are premade designs already.

There are defaults for everything but coastal treatment plants, designed by players.
Can you join someone's empire as soon as he/she creates it or do you have to wait untill that person made some special buildings?
You can join up the moment the servers all realize you've made an empire.
You can join it and spawn as soon as you have a townsquare
Split into 3 teams, each team builds a city on each zone of the planet.
First team to make a moonbase wins?
I said this at the end of the last thread: enjoy the game if you want, i can't deny that it's unique and interesting (especially considering what position i was in) but keep in mind the fact that the only dev is an unstable maniac, which ultimately resulted in the majority of the game's community leaving at once in what can only be known as "the shitstorm". Then there's the history of the dev's best friends abusing GM powers to get ahead in-game, deleting enemy fleets, etc, all of which didn't apparently even warrant a response. Theres the censorship campaigns between Haxus and Ikkiristh to cover up all existence of any of this (they wiped out not only relevant forum posts, but every forum post accounts had ever made). Now, Mr. Syndicate boss Staines has done his very best to convince me that haxus has turned a new leaf, has decided to actually fix problems with the game, listen to the community, and just wants to put that shitstorm behind him, however i'm yet to actually be convinced of anything of the sort just yet.
You've been warned. Good luck. (this warning should probably be in the OP, people need to know what they are getting into before they decide to invest any real time)
For people who want to make a new empire you should start gathering people in this thread and deciding on the name, flag, and organization.
I'm planning on trying this out soon.
Tell me which empire to join (or wait out until we make a new empire).

Even if the forums don't remember you, we all do. -salute- Your empire was grand and stretched far.
If its any consolation, it sounds like Haxus has indeed turned a new leaf, but we shall see. If shit hits another fan, then Section 31 will fade away again.
What is it with interesting games going down/doing bad due to dev incompetence? This game is on the edge right now but if haxus pulls shit again it's going down.

Basically Haxus made a radical change before talking to the community about it, and then instead of dealing with it maturely, Haxus had a big blow out on the forums and deleted almost everything. However, since then, he has informed the community of most big upcoming changes, and has even posted up a little list of what he plans to do in the future. Ikkir Isith isn't covering anything up, he finds it all just as stupid as everyone else. Ikkir believes in the concept of the game though, so he's sticking to it. As for AinB, Haxus will need to address that one day in the future, because lets be honest there will come another reckoning.
People need to understand Hazeron isn't really a "game" right now, it's basically a curious object. It's far too sandbox to be a game, and it lacks any of the streamlining and mechanics that would actually let it be playable competitively like games such as Eve. Haxus is only one guy, so development is pretty slow really. Also, he has long term development in mind - he can't fix every little issue now because if he plans to revamp it completely later on it was just a waste of time and effort to fiddle with it to make people comfortable in the short term.
Thread title should be "Shores of Hazeron - Curious space object simulator"
Why does the Toucan race not have peacock feathers?
So how long do buildings take to build? Or do I have to finish them myself?
So how long do buildings take to build? Or do I have to finish them myself?
Initially you have to finish them yourself, but once you get citizens, they will do jobs like that for you (a bit slower however)

Shores of Hazeron - Fear the animals at first, then acquire a gun and slaughter everything.

Get yourself an auto-clicking program and build them by yourself to start.
My starting planet has one hell of a sun rise.

You don't "Spam click" anymore, all you can do is press "Start working", and it'll slowly do the work.
No more fetch and work button spam.
I come back to Hazeron every once in a while.
On my previous empire, the Vanu Sovereignty, I came across the "Equestria" empire.
All the players were named after characters from My Little Pony. Their citizens were terrifying horse monster things.
I landed my flagship on the other side of the planet to protect it from attack, then began to teleport troops directly into their defense installations to kill the crews of the lasertowers.
Once I captured the city, I renamed the system to "Glue Factory", and pillaged all the technology from the city's storage to upgrade my colonies.

My old flagship, the Nostalgia For Infinity, and my old ringworld capitol.
Some TL32 Russians eventually conquered my one-man empire when I stopped playing the game for a while. Right now my current empire ("Alexesia") has colonies in four systems.

Hold on for just a minute, it wouldn't happen to be THESE things would it?

Is the single-player feature actually functional, or is it much like the human appendix? I'd rather not play any sort of RTS-esque thing where I have to worry about attacks when I myself am offline.

Last time I checked, the "Single-player" is only a single session walk around a planet thing where you can't build, and the offline building / ship designer (which is immensely useful)
I might be wrong on the first thing though, barely ever use it.
Can't wait to start a new colony and get oneshotted by subterranean herbivores.
Indeed i'm shit at any game where I must play against other humans :v
EDIT: Note to self, refresh before relying on automerge.
This simulator looks extremely intriguing. Anyone started up another FP empire yet?
Can a person who sucks ass at complicated games (Hearts of Iron, Europa Universalis etc.) have any idea what to do in such a game?
I feel as though everyone from the UK should declare war on the French Empire and create the 100 Years war in Hazeron.

The learning curve is not that hard for the basic stuff.

Christ, yes.

Well that's funny then, as I did exactly the same that you did.
It was around the July the 2nd, 2011, out scouting with my new empire the "Collective Earth Defense", when a player named Weylin posts an recruitment thread for his "pony empire", out of curiosity I check the nearby sectors for any systems resembling that, and wouldn't you know it, they're right by us.
I create a scout ship for the occation, and start deadheading towards them (this was sadly before warp drives, so it took a while).

Upon arriving, I was met with a promising sight, a space station with pink trails, which confirmed I was at the right place
[t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4249868/screenies/Hazeron.jul-2-2011.10.39.55.787.png[/t]
I head down to the planet, where I meet several ships that are quite literally boxes, but a few interesting designs aswell, upon checking their town square, I was met with this charming image hovering above
[t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4249868/screenies/Hazeron.jul-2-2011.10.43.44.994.png[/t]
It was at this display, I decided I'd take some action.
I went back up to the space station, entered it with ease, killed the crew, and shut off its engines.
The space station falls into the atmosphere, I did however forget my ship was following, as it takes pursuit.
It did however survive without any damage, the space station did not.
[t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4249868/screenies/Hazeron.jul-2-2011.19.12.10.805.png[/t]
I went back up again and did the same with the ship in orbit, which made quite the display as the sun rised on the horizon.

It was once I was done, I discovered that the nearby system had TL31 Eludium, which we certainly required at our current tech level, so our plotting began.
Around a month later, we hit them.
We had a TL32 battleship which could take anything they could possibly throw at us, and we captured the entire empire with a single army.
[t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4249868/screenies/Hazeron.jul-26-2011.2.18.27.175.png[/t]
It was a beautiful sight.
The empire fell quickly, however someone then warned Weylin on his thread, in which I then took on my diplomacy face and said that this surely was a mistake.
During our negotiations, I managed to get the eludium planet, while he got his system back.
All in all a productive day.
(Weylin if you ever read this, I'm sorry, but I needed that Eludium!)
