someones been naughty who lost cities to Plundaria? And why exactly did Plundaria take your cities? Could it be that you attacked some Russians? Or, did you retaliate against some Russians because Plundaria took your cities?

They plundered us and made off with roughly 900,000,000 something while none of us were online. As far as I'm aware we never made contact with hostiles until that happened, and I haven't heard of any russians even in Regina until now. I'm completely unaware of any kind of offensive action that might've been taken against them beyond retaking our cities.
Regina doesn't have anything valuable, really, it's all pretty low-tech and unsubstantial.
Well the story of who took the Russian cities still remains unfinished
Well the story of who took the Russian cities still remains unfinished
I took them [sp]no I didn't[/sp]
I do hope no major wars kick off until I have a warp-capable ark :/ Seeing as i'm well within colonised space and all.
you don't know how hard it is to talk with these guys personally i'm not bothered if someone took Russian cities

remove potato
Does your ship need shielding for magma planets? Is shielding useful in situations other than ship to ship combat? I'm making a recon/colony ship and I was wondering if it needed armor and shielding.
Does your ship need shielding for magma planets? Is shielding useful in situations other than ship to ship combat? I'm making a recon/colony ship and I was wondering if it needed armor and shielding.
its a good idea to pack atleast some armor on ships you intend taking into corrosive atmospheres. once your there and have your flag down, build a slab road and land your ship on it. ive noticed all slabs protect your ship from atmospheric damage now.
Does your ship need shielding for magma planets? Is shielding useful in situations other than ship to ship combat? I'm making a recon/colony ship and I was wondering if it needed armor and shielding.
Let me play out a combat situation where you don't have shielding. Our ships approach each other and then I lock directly onto your lifesign and transport to your ships bridge, shoot you in the face and then massacre your crew before disassembling all of your control consoles with a screwdriver and transporting off the ship with the computers. Then you finish off the defenseless ship. It's important to have a little shield to stop people beaming onto your ship at the start of a fight. Armour, however, hugely increases the health and damage absorption of your ship and you should get AL10 for any serious mainline warship. If you are low tech, get AL3, that should immunise you against turret and rifle fire. As for economic ships, you definitely want armour any time it isn't going to be in the void of space. Armour increases the health of ships dramatically, making them withstand weather and corrosion.

So every empire I have I undertake a moonworks project, where I do something to the moon that is visible from the city. My last moonworks was "Parking Complexia" where I covered the whole moon in slabs (minus the tips of the poles). This was before the terrain change. Given the new freeform abilties of roads, this moonworks could be rather flexible and creative. Taking into account the empire's common... motif I suppose... this was only logical. From space they look fine.) Almost every moon I find seems to have those giant cliffs. It's great because you can drive straight up them :v:
If my ship doesn't really have weapons, do I still need powerplants?
If my ship doesn't really have weapons, do I still need powerplants?
To recharge the FTL drive, to recharge shields, to ensure engines can run for a decent amount of time. More powerplants means a higher capacitor, every system draws from the capacitor. If it draws too much, that system is shut down. More powerplants recharge the capacitor faster. So yes. (Even if you don't have shields you should have a decent amount of powerplants.)
If my ship doesn't really have weapons, do I still need powerplants?
Your ship needs capacitors for life support and engines.
My moon colony decayed and I've been trying to stop it the past few days... Apparently I built too much and they couldn't keep it up and all homes ended up crumbling, damnit. Now pop is down to 0. Fuck.
you do realize it is the galaxy coordinates that people would use to find you right? also, post in the limbo thread. i limbo'd an hour ago and it only took ikkir 5 minutes to unlimbo me.
fuck I completely forget god damnit brain good news is that I am un-limboized
This game looks amazing (in function, not outer form haha..) I wanna get started in it, I already made an emperor account and DLed the client and fucked about in a singleplayer instance for a few. But I'm just curious if you guy's have any tips on what I should do first to get my economy going. I know theres a guide in the Hazeron wiki, but I wanna hear some personal opinions

Step 5) Colonize your moon.

[editline]12th September 2013[/editline] If you need help, ask in the Galactic chat in-game, most people are quite helpful there.

Gaaah, the only planet in my system with plant fibre with a 3 digit quality level, and the sunlight is QL70 :/
Fibre isn't necessary. Make textiles from plastic, use your oil quality. Makes things easier. The only plant based thing you ever need to worry about is fertiliser, and perhaps hay (vegetation density). Vital TL32 Resources are; Ore Oil Crystal Minerals Antiflux Ioplasma Cryozine Air/Water/Ice Eludium (useful unless you want to make rocket drives, which requires lots of petrochemicals and time) Lumenite (isn't really necessary past TL24) Useful for high tech weapons/armour; Magmium Vulcium Fertiliser Coal But basically, you can make TL32 ships using 8 TL32 resources, plus some low tech rare resources for tools. If you don't want shields or transporters, you only need 6 TL32 resources, and if you don't want FTL that drops down to 5 TL32 resources.

That massively simplifies things, thanks c:
So we found out that my moon has quality 214 ore, that's a massive improvement compared the 99 quality ore on my homeworld.
