I seriously doubt that any actual "FP Empire" will work very well, might be better just to make some Coalition or something.
I seriously doubt that any actual "FP Empire" will work very well, might be better just to make some Coalition or something.
There's been... three I think. The only one that survived was what became Toucan.
The only one that survived was what became Toucan.
Exactly, there have been a few facepunch empires, and the people that stuck around managed to create Toucan Empire, which dominated the game for months.
Well that's why a Facepunch Empire wont really work. The people who stick around will go on to form their own faction identity for the game since most FPers will quit within a short amount of time.
I have the foundations of a house now I need wood got wood?

Matt went apeshit and haxxes through a fit and deleted either all the high up official members or the planets they had, its one of those two I cant quite remember. But regardless had that not happened the Toucans would still be active most likely.
It might be fun just to start up an empire anyway, even if it doesnt work out in the end. I love this game but it gets so maddeningly lonely after the first few days, and joining an endgame empire and having stuff just handed to me just aint my cup of tea.
Anyone got the pass to the Toucan Empire? I'm hoping to revive it.
Who are you
To be fair the only reason the Toucan Empire melted down was because of the new empire limitation Haxxes or something put in. We were planning to stay around in a degree of defiance, because the change was so stupid that it wouldn't actually effect us, and the fact that haxus was completely ignoring the community was more of a concern. We had 24/7 activity accounts flying around AND alts for every sector the day the changes were announced. In short time things boiled over on the forums, haxus responded to universal criticism by the community by essentially telling everyone to fuck off, which started a pretty sizable flame war... and he started on insane tirades, deleting them 5 minutes after each set. One moment it was about how his wife despised everyone, the next about how everyone on the forum was my alt (which was extremely funny by the way). You know where it went from there, including the account deletions.
I somewhat wish the game was wiped now, but I also understand that people in well established empires wouldn't appreciate that.
I somewhat wish the game was wiped now, but I also understand that people in well established empires wouldn't appreciate that.
We are the number 1 empire right now, and I wouldn't care if we lost everything. But, a reset right now wouldn't make any sense. There is a lot of stuff being worked on that will require a reset in the future, and even if there was a reset, hazeron still. wouldn't be playable as a game. A reset when the time is right, however, will really make things interesting. That said, it honestly doesn't matter. The game is much more efficient at cleaning up old empires than it used to be, lots of players come and go and 98% of the galaxy is still unexplored. Many empires are around the TL10-27 range, or less. Very few are TL32 capable.

This severely limited the size capabilities of empires unless they had an effective way to cart a million alts around to do their bidding. The general consensus IIRC was that such a feature makes sense in a game with a large playerbase. But as it stood (and still stands) the playerbase is so small that empire size is effectively capped. Haxus didn't listen, things got outta hand, he started locking threads about it, eventually deleting threads, Matt detonated, his entire forum account was removed, all posts and the threads they were in, and I think Toucan itself was liquidated unless I misunderstood that bit.
me and Rapist have just started setting up our settlement. Right now I layed the foundations but we're slowly expanding out in this really annoying, yet totally not hostile jungle. [editline]21st August 2013[/editline] oh and now rapist is floating above me and we both don't know how to get him down.
I've noticed a bug where if you go above the roofs of places you'll just float. You can easily just walk and fall down though.
where do you have to put building files you desgined in the seperate building editor to use them in-game?
how long does it take on average to become a warp capable civ? the fact that 98% of the galaxy is unexplored fascinates me even though the games graphics makes my retinas spontaneously combust.

Couple of months maybe? possibly more. If you're starting from scratch anyway.
more like starting from scratch (nl) ha ha HA i need to sleep
more like starting from scratch (nl) ha ha HA i need to sleep
It was bound to happen at some point :v: Now will be the perfect time to remove all he... nah, I'll just leave it [sp] instead I'll just hop over to my alt and set up beginnings over there [/sp]
I guess I'll give this a try. Any tips for a start?
I guess I'll give this a try. Any tips for a start?
Kill targoss and make a flag out of his flesh. TARGOSS IS THE FOUNDATION OF ALL EMPIRES
Kill targoss and make a flag out of his flesh. TARGOSS IS THE FOUNDATION OF ALL EMPIRES
Don't kill him before you get the torch though. If you do, you're fucked.
It's rather random, but is also based on how many determined people you have. Couple of months maybe? possibly more. If you're starting from scratch anyway.
months as in real time months? if so i think ill pass then...
months as in real time months? if so i think ill pass then...
First you have to get the initial cities up, proper infrastructure, initial tech production, which could take a week or a few days, depends. Then begins the long stretch of location every single resource you need at the proper tech level, which depending on how many people you have, could take a few weeks. Then you have to research everything up to the appropriate level, unless you just buy tech from another benevolent empire, if you don't, it could take a few weeks as well. Then you need supply chains, harvester ships, officer farms, buncha stuff. In the end, you might just want to join another empire with all this bullshit sorted, or aid another to reach it. [editline]22nd August 2013[/editline] Roibhilin you sonovabitch i just spent 20 minutes warping for nothing
I just invade abandoned Empires for their tech.
the next about how everyone on the forum was my alt
I can confirm this I am Matt's alt.
If there is an empire all of you guys set up. I've provide tech and some warp drives.
Oh boy, its this thread. I'll never forget the blood sweat and tears of managing the Nomads; also convinced me that running my own empire isn't really my thing. Are we all flying under one banner nowadays?

I remember the last thread, I had joined up into the Facepunch Empire and the first thing I saw was that some guy was badmouthing us. So, I was told to get some shitty gear and a shitty gun and board some shitty little shuttle which would warp around a bit until reaching some desolate, lonely jungle ringworld with only a single tiny village of cat people inhabiting it's most dense regions. We (As in, me and the one other guy who managed to drop even remotely close to our target) shot up the place and began the slow process of capturing it. I decided to log off then, leaving the other dude to try and rally the stragglers who were out in the middle of a dense fucking jungle at night. When I logged back on everyone was gone and the village had a little Facepunch flag on it, and I thought how completely ridiculous it was that the mission was even considered important. Except, I suppose, it wasn't because the pick-up ship that was supposed to come and get me never came; and I shortly thereafter died from some horrible creature. All of that, the gear and grunts and spacetravel, just to secure a tiny little village and affix it with our flag while the men who captured it starve to death or get eaten. I wonder if that's what real space-travel civilization is going to be like.
