my new eludium colony doesnt have any ice on it, however it orbits a habitable planet. which is nice because i get an officer plus the air and food i would otherwise need from it. also it has a nice haze during the day. [t]http://i.imgur.com/dCB3c41.jpg[/t] the moon im going to colonize also looks like its wearing a beanie. [t]http://i.imgur.com/R12oRyp.jpg[/t]
I'm up for it. What tech? We'll get the ships built in your empire and we can berth over.
Anyone got an unarmoured millenium falcon template? Top/bottom pulse laser turrets, Con, Helm, and Shield stations? That should be good for some dog fighting.
Just roaming around for things to look at, oh what's this a tl32 ship at 100hp orbiting a world, let us take a closer look. Well no shields so let's beam aboard to investi- [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/32793717/ShareX/2013-09/2013-09-15_22-17-08.png[/t] Oh my. [sp]I left right away. I dare not touch the god-emperor's belongings.[/sp]
Oh my. [sp]I left right away. I dare not touch the god-emperor's belongings.[/sp]
at 100hp you should have atleast fixed it up a bit. him being god emperor and all it is your duty... in otherwords, im starting my first TL32 ship in a few hours

Got my little village going, Mine, Farm, Houses and a Smelter. The game was bugged at first so I couldn't see my race in the character creation screen... So I don't have any arms apparently.
So I do the logical thing after binding to the wrong planet and leave, form anew, and rejoin my empire to find this: [t]http://i.imgur.com/hfPNipZ.png[/t]

Do the genetics or cybernetics medical modules do anything yet?
Do the genetics or cybernetics medical modules do anything yet?
Nope.
Yo, Cakebatyr. I named my newest ship after you, the NFDCS (New Facepunch Directorate Colony Ship) Cakebatyr.
im getting rather annoyed by brokers refusing to import enough air. that should be on the top of their lists for a moonbase... 8 broker levels on the moon, 30000 air units on the planetside colony. still cant import enough air for 200 people.
Just making sure, you got an airport at your moonbase, right?
Just making sure, you got an airport at your moonbase, right?
ofcourse. [t]http://i.imgur.com/1bK3f11.jpg[/t]
Wow, damn. The way you lay out your city is amazing. [editline]16th September 2013[/editline] I had enough air on my moon by using a 16 levels broker. Maybe you can use 2 brokers with 8 levels.

Do crew members need food? What should I bring on my ship for a long space journey? I know I might need tools and metal for emergency repairs and probably some medical stuff. What else? Extra spacesuits? Do crewmembers heal themselves automatically if you have medkits in the cargo bay or do you need a medical bay for that? How do you change the equipment of your crew?

Here's the bridge of my new ship, it's pretty rad:
What does your entire ship look like? I'm assuming it's TL32?
What does your entire ship look like? I'm assuming it's TL32?
Yep, It's TL32: It's also got a hangar that can store six mini scouting ships seperately and two medium sized scouting ships, my previous ship could only hold one of each. It's not a pretty ship, but it's durable, comfortable and gets the job done :v:
I wondered what that monstrosity was.
Everytime I think I've perfected my design, there's something I can improve. [editline]16th September 2013[/editline] And that's just with a TL8 ship. I can't imagine with a TL32 ship.

[editline]testedit[/editline] Case study: Notice revision history (compare date modified and the numbering of designs). You should realize how after personal prototyping, "release builds" are labeled differently.

Now that you mention it, I recently redesigned my freighter by replacing the large amounts of hallway sections with engine rooms, I could have made them all cargo holds for the same effect (that is, removing what were absolutely massive windows from my two story cargo hold catwalks).
Is there a way to collect oil that's in the ocean? Cause my empire spawned on a planet where its mostly water and I have my little town built on a tiny archipeligo and the only oil is too far away to build a bridge to or in the water.
i hate to say this but I am absolutely hopeless at the game can somebody PLEASE teach me how to play this? like seriously. i want to get in to it so bad but the wiki just kind of throws me in to the game with things that are just way beyond my comprehension. i don't really want to join an empire or anything and have people give me hand-me-downs: i want somebody to teach me what the hell i'm supposed to be doing willing to pay $$$; discuss for details. voip preferred.
i hate to say this but I am absolutely hopeless at the game can somebody PLEASE teach me how to play this? like seriously. i want to get in to it so bad but the wiki just kind of throws me in to the game with things that are just way beyond my comprehension. i don't really want to join an empire or anything and have people give me hand-me-downs: i want somebody to teach me what the hell i'm supposed to be doing willing to pay $$$; discuss for details. voip preferred.
The big keys to know are F4 (inventory), F10 (labour), and F12 (construction) starting out. Create your character, look around, see if you like the look of your planet (I hated my very first location, it was absolutely covered in jungle). If not, delete your character and make anew (you can save your character preferences so you don't take ages making him again). [del]Next, wait for the guide to complete his introduction then kill him. He'll drop an animal carcass which you can pick up by standing on top of his body right clicking (to unlock the camera from the mouse) and then left clicking once his body has turned into a mound of brown stuff. After this his body will appear in your inventory (F4) as a pixilated cow. DO NOT CLICK ON THE COW. Next hit F10 and bring up the labour window, it might be a tad small so resize it (all windows float above the main game window so feel free to reposition it so it doesn't interrupt your view) and find the leather option, it will say you can make a QL128 piece of leather out of one animal carcass. Next find a tree and using the same method you used to pick up the corpse of your guide, get a log. In the labour menu scroll down to Sewing Kit and select the option that uses logs.[/del] Do what dracotonisamond said. Using the Sewing Kit and Leather you can now make a Flag. Make it. Congratulations, you've passed the first test. [sp]Note: The guide will on occasion kill you, I find that waiting a bit after his initial introduction results in less death, in the absence of a guide to kill, you can harvest cotton fibre's from native fauna (it may be difficult figuring that out to begin with), in the absence of wood you can fashion bones from animal carcasses and sewing kits from bones (assuming the wildlife isn't out to kill you).[/sp] Now to found your first town. Hit the backspace key to bring up the overhead "planning" view. If you don't see a variety of icons such as stone (white bricks), ore (grey blobs with flecks of yellow), oil (you'll figure that one out), hit the \ or shift+\ to cycle view settings. Once you think you're on the right setting, run over to that area and just confirm that you have it by picking up whatever is lying nearby. [sp]Someone please rephrase this paragraph[/sp] Using the planning view, you'll be able to find a good place for your down center, I recommend near plenty of ore and oil if possible. Don't build near water. Open the construction window (F12) and in find the slightly larger flag icon (it should be the top left of the default tab) hover over it says "town center" on the tooltip, click it and bring your mouse back to the main window. You'll have a big circle that allows you to place where you want the town center to be, place it where you feel it should go. Congratulouations! Now click on the roads tab of construction and build some dirt roads going somewhere. Walk onto the area where you designated those roads and open the labour window. It will have changed to say "work needed", hit the Work Now button. Soon the road will be made and you can start placing more buildings down. Congratulations! Now build a mine, it will be the top-leftmost icon in the fourth (or fifth) tab, doesn't matter where you make it (as long as its adjacent to a road), and scroll until you see the number . This indicates that the mine will be four levels/work processes large. Repeat the construction of it like you made that road (be careful not to get stuck in a wall when it finishes construction). When the mine has finished building, your labour window will have changed once more. If the processes say anything other than stone change them in the dropdown menu to stone. Now hit run. Close that for now and go back to the construction window and build a house. Congratulations! You have a town!
