I have built another ship! Hopefully this won't be destroyed so easily.
Just built a harvester to get cyro from a gas giant in a nearby system. Set up all the orders, it has an officer. Time to check back in a few hours if it is working. Hope it works.
You guys have any tips for teching up without emptying the empires coffers every 2 hours?
If you can make it to TL2, then you can empty your empire's coffers into your own bank account and buy from a neighbouring empire if you're near one. Also helpful advice when you finally do get a ship: Don't shoot it, I did and accidentally stranded myself in deep space.

So for whatever reason, my ships can't path their way through wormholes to a certain area of space. There are most certainly are wormholes, because its how I charted the systems originally. But the AI can't path it so I have to order them manually.

Then issue a [B]Harvest[/B] command for the duration of time (will eat fuel). Do a five minute increment first to establish the rate of collection, then set the harvest command so that it fills your cargo hold but doesn't overdo it.
Well somehow my harvest ship exploded from atmospheric stress from the gas giant it was orbiting.. Hmm. Perhaps the range wasn't enough and they decided to harvest it would be a good idea to go inside the planet.

Can I have a clear answer on this? I keep hearing conflicting reports. Are shield bases worth researching and using right now or not? Some people say they do something, some others say that they aren't fully implemented and the shield bubble is only cosmetic at the moment, and nobody knows if researching them up does anything or not.

im hoping someone can enlighten me on this subject. how do docked ships interact with warp drive requirements? do i need more FTL drive units to achieve WF9 if i have another ship docked? if everything works to plan, im going to be bringing four of these bad boys to neoCAS later today. Dunno why, perhaps they have a methylated spirits party every once in a while. I lost an atmo harvester to the exact same situation a few weeks ago. I had established the fuel requirements fairly accurately, and left a big safety margin of ~15% fuel.

After it builds in three hours I will try again, this time I will stay with it and tell it to harvest for only 5 minutes, that way I can see how much fuel it uses and how much it gets, then figure out when should be good. The ship can store 1363 m3 of hydrogen, plenty for idling but I forgot that using weapons will drain it. We shall see.
