Can I join someones empire?
Ah yes,I remember playing this game and got really interested, had a bustling city that I had building for a week and was actually having fun because I like how pretty the city looks at night, and my planet was actually a gas giant's moon which was awesome, then of course I searched the entire solar system for the stuff required for spaceships and shit, only to find out its on the fucking moon.
Who says we gotta have a main FP Empire?
I think it originally was a coalition that ended up becoming a single empire, wasn't it? That's probably how it's going to go again.

Oh, also one of the guys invited me onto his ship and to explore some of his stuff for like an hour, but I haven't checked my city's inventory since I got done. I'm fairly certain I have an abundance of wrenches and probably hammers. He made me an offer to join his empire for "mutual trade and defense." The guy's pretty nice, although he seemed to be trying to weasel in a big empire to dominate before anyone else could. At least that was the vibe I got. I told him I'd do mutual non-aggression, but anything that might put me at odds against a FP empire was a no-go.
Kessler was his name, so just a heads up he might try to convince some of the newer players the same he tried to convince me. With free stuff.
so i made a helicopter because im waiting on my rocket engine to build but ive run into an issue.
where did my space slaves put the finished product?
ive looked everywhere.
also, i find it absolutely hilarious that i almost am space capable and still have yet to make any sort of clothes.
i run a nude colony...

I almost forgot that I made this video :v:
Also, I made this ship for the Syndicate not too long ago:

It's a TL32 battleship that's a joy to fly.
Here are some even older ones that I recently just rediscovered:

^ This one is meant to look like the species my old empire had.
Designing buildings is addicting.

What is the difference between resource quality and tech level and what does quality affect.
What is the difference between resource quality and tech level and what does quality affect.
A given tech level requires a certain resource quality to make. TL = (QL / 8) + 1
Low quality stuff is wasted when fetching and such more easily, and it carries over that low quality to the products made from it.
Can you upgrade dirt roads without removing them? also, is there any advantage of asphalt roads over stone roads? I know any other road than dirt has lights on it, but asphalt only seems to matter visually (while all you get is a black dull line instead of a grey dull line)
[editline]22nd August 2013[/editline]
also, reading the wiki about pressurized roads, it says that landing spaceships inside them will prevent natural (corrosion) damage. If I get to the stage of space craft, should I consider making the landing areas out of pressurized slabs?

No need for pressurized roads on your home planet or on moons, unless you plan on walking around without a spacesuit. You'd only need them for corrosive/insidious atmospheres.
And yes, you can upgrade roads just by slapping another kind on top. At least you could last I played.

Hm, I think think that works with the new road system, not the last time I tried anyway.

I've had ships take weather damage in the rain on hab worlds.
Who says we gotta have a main FP Empire?
But i dont know wich one to join.
Don't join mine unless you plan on spending every waking moment looking for fucking oil. Some dumbass decided it would be a GREAT idea to settle where there isn't any.
(FYI that dumbass would be me.)
But i dont know wich one to join.
I too wouldn't mind having a decently large empire to join.
[editline]dicks[/editline]
Last time I tried heading a colony, I almost had a nervous breakdown.
Last time I captained a ship, my pilot overshot a wormhole and dove the ship head-first into the sun.
Really, the fact that you can now design buildings is pulling me back in. Designing starships was always my absolute favourite part and it still blows me away that no-one else has thought of going the non-voxel way when it comes to custom ships.
It would be cool to join one that is about to colonize the first planet or something like that.
I still want to be able to live entirely on a spaceship. You almost can now that shipborne material harvesters are a thing but you still require a planet to process materials into parts and tools.
So anyone have joinable empires then that are pre spaceflight possibly so one can learn the game.

Mines at that stage right now. Need someone to go out and get a new city up and running for petrochemicals, infact.
Got plenty of resources and help to give! The empire is the Salane Theocracy.
heh, i just burned up on re-entry coming back from the moon.
this game is great.

You must have been going way too fast, I've jumped from orbit on a motorcycle and landed in the city center with no damage.
So I've let it run for a bit and it's still laggy as hell, even though my computer shouldn't be lagging. Are there any known issues for laptop 660M graphics cards, or intel core i7 processors?
Even on very low settings it still is impossible to play.
Not that I can recall. I'm using an intel core 2 quad and a gts450 and its quite playable for me.
Now, mind you, finding a situation where you consistently get 30-60 frames just ain't gonna happen. Simply will not happen at all.
I get like, 15fps usually but Its still quite playable. What kind of frames are you averaging, and in what situations are they in?
Well walking around the starting homeworld is so laggy that I can't even look at an object because it's so choppy. Right now I'm running windows update and nvidia update to see if I can fix anything.

Can I join in as well? I won't be able to spend hours and hours every day managing things, but I'd still like to see what this game's about and help out someone who's more invested in it than I am.

Yeah sure, I have no problem with that. Already have everything needed for a new city but I just haven't gone out and tried yet.
also considering no-one else has actually joined yet :v:

I'm in the same case as Fyhlen, but I tried to join your empire and it's not open to immigration.
Might as well ask if I can join in too?

Try to play at the lowest settings. Hazeron is unoptimized as fuck with the new planets and a lot of trees and shit will mess up every pc.
Also 30fps is impossible because Hazeron.

Whoa what? It's supposed to be set to by request, I'll open it to immigration then.

Literally playing on the lowest settings :'(
I was really looking into getting into this, but there is some kind of an issue with my rendering hardware or something, because it is still way too laggy to play.
I'll give it a shot on my desktop when no one's using it.
