Jesus, this is a dream come true. Is there a release date yet?
yeah, 14th september
I can finally part from my X360 copy now...
I'm gonna loathe doing the Infinity Mode unlocks all over again though.

Dead Rising 4 won't have a time limit.
What
Not surprised. I never played 3 myself, but it seems like this is the direction they're moving since making Nightmare mode optional in 3.
Not sure if the game will be fun or not (I didn't even realize Dead Rising 4 was a thing until now), but what always grabbed me in DR1 and DR2 is the careful time managing aspect which I think has an appeal to a large niche of gamers, but probably doesn't appeal to the masses who just see it as an obstacle that gets in the way of killing zombies.
Dead Rising 4 doesn't look very good, like at this point they've completely missed the point of what made Dead Rising 1 and 2 so damn good.
Shoulda just called it something else.

Pretty much my thoughts as well. They're trying to be both, but the original dead rising game is long gone from the sequels. Wasn't expecting the new one to be like it, and I don't think we ever will get one like it again.
From the way I see it, they turned frank west into a Ash Williams/Bruce Campbell type character.

Even then 3 still didn't have stuff like regenerating health and felt like a logical progression of that gameplay.
4 just looks like dead rising in name only honestly
For me DR1 had a zombie outbreak in a (sort of) believable world. While DR3 is fun, I don't like the whole 'zombie chipping', and outrageously evil characters.
I know DR1 of course had dramatic bad guys but they had some kind of relatable charm to them. Maybe I'm talking bollocks, but either way it'll be good to go through the game again.
I hear you. The original Dead Rising had a story that took itself seriously and got a lot of its humor from the contrasting wacky gameplay. The sequels drove the series into a campier direction. Some people may enjoy that kind of comedy, but it turns me off.
why did they change frank's voice actor
Dead Rising 4 looks like it has lost what made Dead Rising fun, I honestly didn't enjoy 3 a whole lot, it was okay but it didn't have that Dead Rising feel. Dead Rising 4 looks just like they've gone way to far with it all, no longer can you just go into shops and pick up basic stuff, it wants you to pick weapons that are just silly in my opinion. Looks to over the top. Can't wait to get the triple pack on my Ps4 soon, the 1st was the greatest and most fun.

This, I miss the concept of just going into a store and picking up a bat, pitchfork, or broom. OR quick grabs of a garbage can or bench.
It's like every weapon is some super ultra mega zombie killer. It feels like they just decided to skip the crafting system and just laid the combo weapons everywhere.
I guess it now feels like the world is just a playground with a bunch of toys everywhere, it doesn't feel like an actual city.
The vietnam veteran was the only psycho in the series I felt legitimately bad for.
The clown too, any of the psychos that broke and didn't go on a power hunger trip.
OH! The one sniper in the sniper family who was reluctant to fight you but his brother and dad pressured him into doing it, I always wished we could of saved him at least

Wait, 4 has regenerating health?
Well, fuck. I hope they have a classic mode, otherwise I'm expecting this to be a one-playthrough bought-on-sale co-op-only game.
Everything I've heard about the game since release has been a negative, from Frank's new weird personality to removing (at least) two major staples of the series. The time limit wasn't a dealbreaker for me because that's probably my least favorite aspect of the DR series as a whole (I remember once I was about halfway through the story of DR2 and was fucking around with my friend, we saved, but then realized "oh fuck, we've only got like 2 minutes to get halfway across fortune city and finish this mission" and it was impossible to reach so we had to start all over. Like, the mission was the TK train one, and we could get to and on the train, but we couldn't reach the front in time so every time we got halfway through and "THE TRUTH HAS VANISHED" and it's like "we were on the same damn train as the truth"), but they just made half the items in the game fucking useless because my inventory's gonna be filled with nothing but weapons now because my health regens.

To be honest I kind of disliked the whole pharmaceutical bent they took with DR2. I felt the whole evil pharma company was too similar to some of RE's story beats for my taste.

Frank made a great straightman to all the crazies because most of the time he just seemed really confused by what he'd walked into. Chuck was more annoyed at their bullshit, unless they were clearly in some kind of distress or psychosis. Both were great but the cutscenes of Frank casually strolling into a room of crazy are still my favorites of the series.
All the DR sequels have gone way too over the top IMO. I hate the focus on building these wacky weapons, instead of using whatever every day item you could get your hands on, like in the first game. That was part of the fun for me.
I loved the impractical and fun special moves Frank learned in DR1, like the football tackle was risky as fuck to use but it was always hilarious when pulled off successfully, plus the double lariat is one of the best things ever.
I never liked how DR2 and OTR nerfed throwing stuff too, in DR1 when you had high stats you could throw CDs and jewelry at a crazy high rate and mow down crowds of zombies, but that was severely pulled back for DR2 and OTR, not to mention finding the weird/jokey weapons in DR1 was more special seeing as they were unique and hard to find.
I also kinda preferred the overall darker tone the first game had
Like that game would just be fucked up in places, esp with the psychopaths
DR1 has the convicts so that alone makes it the best game.

As much as I love DR1; I think Dead Rising 2 is nearly as good if not better. I love the combo weapons, and at least in 2 you have to plan ahead and find these items to craft them. Plus cooperative mode is a blast.
At this point, Dead Rising 4 is almost like a soft-reboot/remake.
It is. According to a Capcom employee at san diego comic con I spoke to, it's an "update, like James Bond".
Did dead rising really need an update honestly?
Weren't the first two games really successful as is and 3 only failed because of the bad deal with Microsoft?
I feel like they're making a mistake by including any sort of city in the game, especially if it was as shit as DR3's city.
I mean you could go in the buildings and everything, and that was awesome and I think they did a wonderful job of making the city believable, but traveling from place to place was a nightmare with all the barriers and barricades and car blockers. Not to mention how as the game progressed more and more zombies showed up, making non-vehicular travel worse and worse.
They need to stick to malls or at the very least, Dead Rising 2's weird city-mall combination.

It also didn't help that they tried to appeal to a broader audience by shifting away from the games' prior focuses, which caused some people who played 1, 2, and OTR to not even bother with it.
And lookie at what DR4 is doing. I'm not really even sure I want to drop $60 on this.
If anyone even reads this thread, could I get some technical help?
We are in the same house on the same network with two seperate Steam accounts with the same game. One PC is ethernet, the other is wireless.
I have port forwarded everything I need to.
I have tried Hamachi
I have disabled my anti-virus and Windows Firewall
We can ping each other fine
I have internet connection on both computers
I have upnp on
I turned off my Router firewall
I have reloaded steam and both computers.
I have tried connecting to each computers session
I think that's mostly what I have done so far but anything I have no tried will be really helpful thankyou.
Just copied from steam forums, wondering if anyone here knows what's up

Which of the games? I mean engine-wise they're all pretty similar but hey, you never know.
Totally forgot that for some reason
Dead Rising 2 but not OTR just the original
Just want to say this:
Frank West > Every other DR protagonist
[sp] Althought I do like Chuck. Him and Frank make a good team[/sp]
Dead Rising is out now
