ahh fuck off ronald you big piece of shit. i completely forgot to bring food, then saved, and the dude fucked off with like 5 survivors. and i had every single survivor so far (up to 60 on the list!!!!) [editline]14th September 2016[/editline] also are there any trainers yet?
hope for a trainer soon so I can freely fuck about.
I'm glad DR1 got rereleased, I had almost forgotten what it felt like to simultaneously love and hate a game.
On PS4, OTR still has really bad framedrops. I feel cheated. The main reason I wanted to get OTR again was for the smooth framerate. DR1 feels so much smoother and polished than the sequels. Even on the 360, it felt that way. Sure it had its flaws, like the terrible AI, but overall, I'm having more fun with it.
DR1 feels so much smoother and polished than the sequels.
because it is it's the only japanese developed title in the series. take that as you will
I wish we could get a Dead Rising game that combined the smooth feel of the first game with the quality of life improvements of the sequels.
I wish we could get a Dead Rising game that combined the smooth feel of the first game with the quality of life improvements of the sequels.
it wouldn't be the same. dr1 needs to stay as it is. and if you can't hack it the option is to not play
it wouldn't be the same. dr1 needs to stay as it is. and if you can't hack it the option is to not play
Yeah hopefully you still crash on day 04 of infinity mode in the food court. Keep it the same as it is. The game is meant to be brutal
Deadrising 1 isn't really that brutal, as long as you plan ahead and know how to cheese the boss fights. Escorting five survivors at once is a different story though.
it wouldn't be the same. dr1 needs to stay as it is. and if you can't hack it the option is to not play
I said nothing about changing DR1, I just said I want a Dead Rising game with the stuff I described.
Deadrising 1 isn't really that brutal, as long as you plan ahead and know how to cheese the boss fights. Escorting five survivors at once is a different story though.
For the guy in the gunstore I literally sprinted up, quickly stole a sniper rifle before he threw me out and ran back and cheesed him around the corners. Same goes for the convicts. They got stuck on a tree and couldn't figure out how to get out, so I sniped them easy.
A bunch of the earlier game is pretty easy if you memorise where food items and hidden weapons are (e.g the katana and smg in paradise plaza). And of course most of the game becomes a cake-walk if you can be bothered to get the real megabuster, which is more of a time consuming endeavour than a hard one.
I just redid the first few cases a couple of times to get a decent headstart, then got my hands on the small chainsaws as soon as possible. Fucking cakewalk from there on in, especially if you combine it with the three books that let the things last pretty much forever.
Lost 4 fucking survivors due to retarded AI. Roland kept running into the damn wall. He was a lost cause. 3 survivors from the hatchet guy all died because they all kept panicking and not going where I told them to go. Ended up getting captured by the cultists and basically said fuck them. The AI isn't a feature. It's broken. Plain and simple. [editline]15th September 2016[/editline] Also the more I play this, the more I realize that there hasn't been a good interpretation of Frank SINCE DR1. OTR and 4 both seem like the devs think Frank is badass, witty, and spews puns and one-liners all day but he really isn't that. He's your everyday, kinda awkward dude. I dunno why they insist on being ~Frank~ so cool and edgy and badass when he isn't and never was.
If memory serves right a western studio handled Dead Rising 2, OTR, and 3 as well. 4 most likely too, and when western devs try to do Japanese weird, it never comes out right. Look at what happened with EDF insect Armageddon. As much as I liked most of the gameplay in DR2 and OTR, it kinda chapped my ass how hard they tried to crank up the "whacky" factor. It was better when the weirdness was just shit that happened during gameplay at times but almost everything else was played straight. and Frank does do something fairly badass canonically speaking at the true ending of DR1, but half the fun of Frank is how in gameplay he does these ridiculous wrestling moves and mows down waves of zombies and in cutscenes he's a dork.
I was just replaying Dead Rising 2, and was reintroduced to the "quick escape" moves that take longer than the regular escape moves. And is there any lighting? It just looks fullbright.
If you're still crashing, make sure your OS is updated. If you have more issues, check this thread out http://steamcommunity.com/app/427190/discussions/2/350541595122683566/
Ah fuck. I died on the bomb collector mission, and forgot to save after I did two other scoops beforehand. Carlito is a motherfucker in that truck.

So you're correct there. As for the change in Frank's character, I don't mind how he changed in OTR. For one, it's non-canon. Also, I suppose it would make sense. Frank is a dork, but he's also hot headed, so I could see any amount of fame easily getting to his head. As for DR4, I'm not too sure. We really need some more backstory as to why he's returning to Willamette in the first place, and what all Frank has done in the past 16 years since DR1 (or 11 years since Case West). I'm not too peeved about the VA change, but I would've still preferred the original VA.
Also OTR Frank is thick as hell. Never understood that
Depression from not being famous anymore. He doesn't go around fighting zombies for a living unlike Chris Redfield.
Or punching fucking boulders for that matter.
Can I just ignore the other survivors and not save them at all? Are there any benefits other than extra EXP? :v: This is my first ever playthrough on Dead Rising 1.

Other than that they aren't essential. Only thing required is the story cases.
Man, so sad playing DR1 and getting perspective on how the sequels succumbed to Saints Row Syndrome.
Man, so sad playing DR1 and getting perspective on how the sequels succumbed to Saints Row Syndrome.
They got too wacky? Weird car handling? (:v:)
All of it.
All of it.
So, DR4 is just going to be a massive simulation, and was originally going to be made as an expansion for DR3? And the next game will be "Frank out of Hell?":v: I get what you're talking about though. I can kind of tolerate the increased wackiness in DR though, as it helps to have something to combat the nowadays rather dry nature of zombie themed games. That, and the series has always had wacky undertones. Saints Row, on the other hand, started out as a generic GTA ripoff that wasn't really all that silly, and has now evolved into being about a super powered president beating up aliens in a simulation.

Dead Rising 2 is still my favorite overall. It doesn't feel quite as polished as DR1, but the improved survivor AI makes a world of difference, and I like the weapon combos. OTR just makes it even better with autosaves and a full sandbox mode, though I do wish the devs hadn't become so aware of Frank's memetic status. Did you know he's covered wars y'know? I still really like Dead Rising 1, but I hate it as much as I love it. It's a charming game that pisses me off to no end. I just tried escorting six survivors to the safe room at once, and only two made it because the rest were too focused on either fighting zombies, running into walls, or standing completely still.
