Just started getting into this game. I'm wondering, if I like this one, will I like any of the Diablo series?
You will indeed. In fact, first Torchlight and first Diablo have many similarities - the town (Torchlight/Tristram), random dungeons, three classes (Destroyer/Warrior, Vanquisher/Archer, Alchemist/Sorcerer, they also have same genders) and the boss (Ordrak/Diablo).
anyone plays TL2+Synergies mod?
anyone plays TL2+Synergies mod?
I played it as single player necromancer, before GUTS was released.
I was thinking of replaying it with a new character, along with These mods: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=143033358 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=139645352
They're from a Runic employees. They add more Landmark chunks to the game for more level variation. I already tried it and it's pretty good, but I never got enough time and/or motivation to actually re-replay the game.
Maybe I'll wait until there is a nice new class I can play with.
I have only DRM-Free Torchlight I. I want it on steam lol or trade for smth :D
I should update my synergies. Is there any tips to hosting games because it always takes forever for me or a friend to load into the desert overworld in Act 2, and sometimes it crashes.

That's weird. My game always take a bit long to load that part, but only the first time. I never crashed though.
Do you have an old pc?

Torchlight II is just $4.99 for today (1:20 hours from now, it'll go back to 50% discount after that.) http://store.steampowered.com/app/200710
I'm about to play Torchlight II for the first time (I've played the first one before though). Should I use SynergiesMOD from the start or should I play it vanilla first?

vanilla first, then synergies is probably best.
During these few days (if I don't forget) I'm going to rework the OP, since it was extremly outdated (it was pretty much the old thread with a few corrections.), like I should have done so long ago.
The game deserves better than "This".
I'll add info about the classed, the game, the world and the editors.
Is there anything I'm missing?

Maybe info on facepunchers who would like to play together?
I got this game on the summer sale, having a blast with it playing in co-op with my friends.

Well, there already is a facepunch group, but it's dead. http://steamcommunity.com/groups/facepunchtorchlight
I could add it to the op, and maybe I can try to get the permisson to update it.

I had a ton of my friends buy Torchlight 2 during the sales, maybe we can get that thing going again.
So uhh, I remember reading a while back that one of the devs hoped that someone would recreate Diablo 2 in TL2.
Did that (or any diablo 1/2 related mods) ever happen?

Already got admin for the group and I'm pretty much done with the thread, just missing stuff for the editor and I should make the post "prettier".

Well, there is Font mods, but like, Classes/Enemies/Levels, not realy. They will be, someone will do it sooner or later, there might even be someone working on that already. (I should look into that)
Remember you can check if there is any available mods in the workshop http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/browse/?appid=200710

Way to get me hyped.
Torchlight I & II are on "-50%" sale for TL2's Anniversary. (I can't belive it's already been a whole year.)

There is also several huge giveaways and events going on for it: http://www.torchlight2game.com/news/2013/09/19/happy-birthday-torchlight-ii/
I decided to do a new playthrough as an engineer, two-handed weapons just feel so awesome.
Although I can't stand the fucking desert in act 2, I just want to get on with it.
Act 2 for me was really long and incredibly boring. It actually made me want to stop playing all together.
When I first played it, I stopped playing at some point because the map was so huge and the enemies were all the same. I'm about to kill Manticore, I just want to get out of that fucking act.
Still it's a great game. Altough I don't like the classes that much. The engineer is the only class that I actually like gameplay wise.
Probably gotta agree there; on retrospect the desert did seem to drag on for a bit too long.
Currently I'm right at the end, around the second phase of the final boss. I dunno if I'm powerful enough to take him down in that form, since he drops a hella ton of rocks on me as one of his attacks, rapidly nuking me down. Do I need to switch out my gear for Vitality-heavy stuff?
Just FYI, I'm playing an Outlander.
I tried playing elite mode the other day (and hardcore because why not) and it was ridiculous. It pretty much becomes an entirely different game, because every single enemy actually poses a threat. I died at level 7, trying to do that scroll of anom-irek quest. I never even got to my first orange enemy. Killed by a purple.
The weird thing to me though is that like all the elite builds people post online tend to just say "put all your stat points in strength, ignore everything else." It can vary a little, but it was weird to me that for "high survivability" builds, vitality is almost never used at all. Because apparently some later-game stuff can 1-shot you.
Does anyone play this anymore? I've been tempted to start playing as one of the Synergies classes. Last I heard the Necro was OP and the other two are alpha mode, so I'm not sure. Thoughts?
I was thinking of playing again. It's been about 5 months since I last played. Synergies is getting updated so eh.
I might give Torchlight 1 a shot again, I really like it because it's easy to pick up and the classes are so standard.
In case anyone is interested, Torchlight I & II are 75% off for the next two days on Steam:
