i am almost done completing my collection did the lootcrate thing (so basically the entirety of wave 1), got all of wave 2 except for pit (i might have him next week or not, all up to gamestop stock), and wave 3 retailer exclusives are stupid (specifically toys r us and target, two stores not built for this kind of load) i didnt overpay for any amiibos so far via ebay or whatever. i got a extra shulk pre-ordered, not really sure if i would even pick it up or not (if i do im probably gonna sell it). once im done with the 3 waves im no longer giving a fuck about collecting amiibos and gonna buy ones i like. mainly bought the things for use at parties.
As a note: If you don't get Amiibos or think they're dumb go ahead and think that, but try not to rile everyone up because you dislike them. Some people want to collect them because they're fans of nintendo's characters, some want merch of characters who won't likely get anything else in the future (Hello, Ness). There really isn't anything wrong with them.
Eh, they're really kind of bad, though. It's literally on-disc DLC, except you have to buy a figure to unlock it. Which also incidentally makes it way more expensive. What they've been doing for Smash Brothers is pretty neat, but on the other hand, shit like locking the Spinner weapon is a pretty evil business practice.

It's literally just a single for fun weapon and it came out far, far after the game actually released. If they hid a games ending away or half the content it's something to get up in arms about, but if it's just a hat for a character or a extra pip of health in Kirby then it's nothing to complain about at all and just a nice bonus.

It massively fucks over the people who just want the game content, forcing them to shell out over 10 dollars for DLC that is arguably not even worth 1 dollar, because Nintendo happens to have attached it to a figurine. It's literally an excuse to overcharge for DLC.
It's also a DLC that is used for more then one game. It's a trainable AI, it unlocks a costume in one game and a weapon in another. Maybe more in the future, especially with Majora's Mask and Zelda U coming along (talking about Link and Zelda franchise amiibos) We could call amiibos... versatile DLC. They can do more then the Skylanders/Infinity figurines which only work with their respective games.
I remember hearing that Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy Plus for the 3DS (has nothing to do with Assault Horizon that was released on PS3/Xbox 360 and later PC, Assault Horizon Legacy is a remake of Ace Combat 2 infact) has Amiibo unlocks, example being this mean looking flying gun with aircraft attachment if you use a Bowser 'miibo. http://www.game.co.uk/en/pit-amiibo-super-smash-bros-collection-312435 Pit Amiibos in stock here, though it's in the UK. I shipped it in to the US and it cost me roughly 21 USD.

Not having a spinner doesn't lock you out of anything and it isn't gamebreakingly overpowered or anything.
hey i have 36 dollars in amazon credit im thinking of geting one or two amiibos but what ones
hey i have 36 dollars in amazon credit im thinking of geting one or two amiibos but what ones
I'd say get Mega Man and Sonic if you can, I feel that other than store exclusives, they're gonna sell out. Though, I'd wait until W4 to be announced and grab whatever Marth of the pack it will have. On another note, I'm shocked that Diddy is hard to find. I'm finding Diddy Kongs out the ass where I live.

I go to the electronic section check out and they were unpacking more Diddy Kongs into a giant box with more Diddy Kongs in it. I would consider him and Luigi the commons of wave 2....They still didn't get any Captain Falcons.
hey i have 36 dollars in amazon credit im thinking of geting one or two amiibos but what ones
Go for who you like. If you're looking for rare ones just consider who the characters are. Fire Emblem isn't really a thing in the west for example so Ike is going to be really limited here. Third party amiibos are a coin flip because everyone knows who they are and they're BIG names but Nintendo doesn't hold those mascots rights. If you like Mario though nothin should stop you from grabbin the Merts.

I'm on the fence and fidgeting constantly about these things. I have a question or two though, I've heard that some of the human ones look absolutely horrid (and I kind of want them MORE SO for hanging around my shelf) Is that really the case? I was especially looking forward to all of the Fire Emblem Amiibo, but after seeing pictures of the retail Marth I'm a bit skeptical.
I would say Marth is really the only stupid looking one.
I'm quite fond of my Marth amiibo. I wouldn't say there's anything too wrong with him, certainly nothing on the level of ever so beloved Merth image. :v:

Same with Peach. Amazing details on the dress but her face looks like it got stung by bees. Everyone else looks great minus crazy eyes diddy (oh god what's going to happen to Sonic) [editline]28th December 2014[/editline] Keep in mind these things are SUPER small minus the big guys like DK. From a distance you won't really notice it anyway (except Peach, she's kinda strange no matter how you look at it)
I've been looking for a Captain Falcon Amiibo at MSRP but all I can find is $30+ USD. What the fuck is this? I just want to buy a toy for my younger brother...
Posted at a Target. [t]http://i.imgur.com/JrIo7b9.jpg[/t] Really at this point Nintendo should just send out a mass email and put a huge red banner on the Amiibo page saying "No Amiibos have been discontinued" because apparently this email is just not enough. :v:
Sadly that response was false. They really do seem to be done in the US. [editline]29th December 2014[/editline] "We are out of Diddy" While one Diddy is right there. I think they're trying to hide things.
I must have missed when the email was proven false, May I have a source?
It wasn't proven so should say that. It's just everyone everywhere else is saying "Nintendo discontinued these." and when asked Miyamoto had that stint on cards without actually answering the question. The most word we've gotten is that single response to a fan and nothing else so it's kind of a "believe the majority" right now. We haven't seen those 3 at all since then and with all the stores now saying they're not getting any more it's starting to outweigh some guy saying "nuh-uh" [editline]29th December 2014[/editline] Hence my "seem"
It just seems wrong for them to just stop making them after the initial release. Nintendo is giving a giant middle finger to America. Store exclusives and not enough stock of anything besides Mario and some Wave 1 Amiibos. Want your favorite characters? To bad they are sold out and we are not making anymore because you didn't pre-order or buy them on day 1.
Yeah I don't disagree, it's really really stupid if they are discontinued and it's infuriating that it means scalpers "won" but there's not a lot we can do about it.
I'm going to keep my hopes up that more Villagers will come out after wave 3. If not I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and import one.
While I have just about all the Amiibos I want at the moment (Samus, Link, Kirby, Ike [preordered] and Shulk [preordered]), I really hope I can get Zero Suit Samus and Lucina, as my collection has a disturbing shortage of waifus.

I didn't just make a horrible mistake over a dumb plastic toy? [editline]29th December 2014[/editline] If so Oooooh noooooo
IIRC Game is the UK version of Gamestop, so I am pretty sure it is legit.
I swear, the Wal-Mart next to me will forever have wave 1's on display. [t]http://i.imgur.com/k5DFZjV.jpg[/t] Hell, the Gamestop next to it had at least one Luigi and apparently got a shipment of Macs a week or so ago (and promptly sold out).
