BUT, removing them entirely means there will only be more people hunting them early on, depleting stock just as fast if not even faster.
Preoders had a fine purpose of immediately satisfying people who would otherwise just go out and buy them, increasing the chances of being able to find one later if you didn't preorder because you're competing with one less person. Removing that means everyone is thrown into one moshpit again, and everyone's likelihood of getting what they want drops as a result. If this becomes a trend, scalping is going to get a whole lot more common and a whole lot uglier in terms of sticker shock, just because there will be virtually no other option at any point before or after release to consistently secure one other than just getting lucky.

He's exceedingly rare in North America. I've only ever seen two, of which I bought one.

Well this is just great. I got an email from Newegg saying they're not getting shit from Nintendo as "they are unable to provide us with inventory by the projected release date." and "currently do not have an estimated date to fulfill your pre-order."
So basically I'm being put on indefinitely hold for as long as they want or until I cancel my Ike pre-order.
Biggest reason I'm so pissed about this is it was supposed to be my Christmas gift for my sister.

There isn't, it's the same as the smash mario and normal one. Just dipped in gold paint.
