firstly you probably should've put this in the n3ds topic
secondly try using the stylus to pry open the plate from the sides. the stylus's weird shaped top is actually a tool for inserting into a small gap in the sides of the backplate.

Yeah, you're right, I thought I had the N3DS thread on the tab I posted it in, apologies.
Also, I got it fixed, I apparently didn't use enough force when popping the plate off. :v:
But to redeem myself, I managed to snag a Megaman while getting the 3DS. Last one on the shelf, too!

Are you talking about the regular N3DS? If so where did you get it, unless your flag is lying to me.
Megaman feels fittingly rock-solid. He's the only one I have so far that I'd trust giving to a small child.

Foxy wouldn't fit with McCloud. Not only that, Fox was already hard to find, I don't need to make him even more busted than he already was :v:
I only have four Amiibo so far, Megaman, Samus, Link and Bowser. I think my favourite is Bowser because the amiibo itself is heavy. Like, satisfyingly heavy, it's weird.
Anywho, looking to get Dedede, Meta Knight, all Fire Emblem Amiibo and Captain Falcon at some point. Hopefully they get restocked at some point, if not, bummer.

Captain Falcon and Pit are pretty much gone in the US. Most stores only received two shipments of each, containing five or six Falcons and at most three Pits.
A majority of retailers only ever saw 14 of those two combined.
I work retail and when my shift was ending they were stocking the new amiibo shipment, grabbed one of each because I'm an idiot.

which is a shame. marth and cap are all that remains of the previous waves that I want and they're among the hardest to get a hold of.
but I've got a pretty good lineup right now. mario, luigi, peach, bowser, yoshi, fox, donkey, diddy, link, TL, zelda, shiek, megaman, samus, and ike. never was big on kid icarus, kirby, or sonic so that helps
The most nonsensical part is that Marth is actually significantly more common than Falcon, having gotten at least three restocks containing 8+ units before disappearing entirely.
It's just that stores didn't have a one-per-person limit yet during wave one, so all of those Marths usually went home with the same greaseball every time, right as the store opened.
