yeah I'm aware (and kind of hope, for the sake of sniping scalpers) that they'd restrict the two amiibo limit, but hey both me and my friend wanted De, and he was all bummed about being strapped for cash and passed on the opportunity to order it, so shhhh surprise. Nintendo posted on their Facebook this morning that the Gold Mario amiibo pre-order is only just a small fraction of them, and you can still get them in store. Sounds like they have enough to go around.

Wait is this a super common one cause i've never seen it
Some stores are no longer allowing Nintendo products to be put on their layaway plans.
The reason for this was that it was being used as a way to reserve a large number of amiibo without actually paying anything, and once the first payment period hit, the layaway would bum or be cancelled. Private buyers who were in contact with the first one would then be told to go to that store's service counter and ask if any amiibo had been returned recently; the clerk would then allow them to browse and buy from the bum layaway stock of amiibo the first person had set aside, basically creating a private selection only available to specific people who pay to be made aware of the whens and wheres of this process as arranged by the first person.
It's really dirty and it wastes the store's time and money (and makes them look bad), so many are putting a blanket policy on Nintendo products forbidding layaway.
So that's a good thing for casual collectors, right?

So I just noticed my Samus amiibo has a weird oily glossy black look to its base, like it's been dipped in water, while every other one I have is the normal matte black. It's so glossy you can almost see reflections in it.
Is that a molding error, you think? Does anybody else have any that are like that?

Makes you wonder what they will make with them. It's a game that has custom avatars, so if this indeed becomes real, there are chances that maybe Fighter Mii amiibos will make an appearance.
It would be cool if Nintendo allowed indie devs to ask for amiibos. A Shovel Knight or Gunman Clive amiibo would be awesome.
Splatoon amiibo? I can't see the game getting its own line of Amiibo a la Smash and Mario. Will we get an all purpose "Nintendo IPs that don't warrant their own series" line?
For 3rd party and indie Amiibo I imagine the companies would just need to get the licensing deals for using the technology and making it compatible with Nintendo products, or they approach Nintendo with the idea.
Also, special Amiibo hats for Splatoon please.
