Of course the Ness amiibo went live while I was in class :suicide:
I waited for an hour to get Robin and the Splatoon pack, and wound up paying a lot more than I thought I would.
Splatoon better be good.
I'm throwing a fit irl for everyone who missed out and also myself because my dentist appointment screwed me over on the puff.

crap...I forgot about the preorders today.....I guess I am not getting a Jigglypuff.
Oh well its not the end of the world.
Welp. spent an hour and a half at gamestop only to be told everybody is sold out. wonderful
Well this sucks. There go my chances of pre-ordering them. Now I am going to have to hunt for some good importers to get them.
Did not expect amiibos to be like this. I thought for sure it'd be like skylanders and Disney infinity and I could just buy some as I want.
nintendo stop doing store exclusives pls
No, seriously, I can't believe the Jigglypuff amiibo pre-order is sold out.

The difference is that Activision and Disney understand the concept of supply and demand. Yes they do have their "rare" figures but they aren't that hard to find. Nintendo on the other hand, doesn't have a fucking clue on what to do. Honestly, I wouldn't be suprised if they just don't care. They have a long history of starting good shit, and letting it flaunder in favor of the next iteration.
Welp, the new amiibos for EB games Canada doesn't even show up on the site, doesn't even state that it's out of stock, they're just gone.
I'm going to assume they're sold out, so my only bet now is retail.
The difference is that what you see in stores of Skylanders and Infinity aren't the latest shipment, they're months worth of unpurchased stuff mixed together with their latest batch, so it only LOOKS like they make much more. In reality, the numbers are pretty similar - almost identical at some stores - but amiibo sell several orders of magnitude faster. What most people see when they walk in is 1/3 or less of what the store got that shipment, just because they weren't there at opening. Compare that to the 5-8 shipments of Infinity and 10+ shipments of Skylanders sitting next to it, and it looks bleak. ANYTHING would compared to that.
almost 2.5 hours, got Ness and Pac. That's like almost half of what I wanted, so not too big of a loss.
Now here I need to have my order stuff on high alert to get the rest, especially any more Robin and Greninja. Any word on when exactly Froggy will go for preorder?
So wait, did I miss Ness, or did Gamestop never deliver on what they said? I heard the site crashed for awhile.
ganondorf is already sold out on eb games australia
jeez, good thing i have no life and pre ordered him as soon as he was available

GS took a big shit while I was in GS, standing in front of a hulking neckbeard with a pug's lungs. There were people there since 12AM, the site crashed 5 minutes after I got in. So I'm awaiting on more news about the Amiibo 6 pack. If nothing comes out of the 6 pack, I'm just getting Ness, Charizard and Pac-Man.
God I'm glad I live in the middle of bumfuck nowhere, had to wait while the system shit itself for about thirty minutes, but after that got my splatoon bundle, pretty pumped too bad that the game is pretty much two months away.

Hey, thanks for the info!
It's just honestly disappointing that we're still having trouble with this. You'd think they'd get bigger shipments and production by now, considering they've got multiple waves that have already passed.
I checked at the local Gamestop, all they had in the system was a Pac-Man.
Man, Gamestop was all out of pre-orders before they even came online.
It's pretty disheartening to see that a large amount of people aren't going to get their favorite amiibo because of store exclusivity and low stock.
Waited with a friend to get preorders in at Gamestop, ended up each getting a Ness, barely missed Lucina and Robin sadly. I felt really bad for the employees since even though 5 of us there were rather chill about it, one older guy was getting really pissed and started making snide remarks around the 20 minute mark, talking about his "autistic son who loves these goddamn things" and making comments at me to "hurry the fuck up already" once they started on my order, and just kept it up the entire hour (also holy fuck their systems were so slow it took an hour to get ours, and we were second and third in line).
Really glad I was able to get a preorder out, once they started talking about Robin and Lucina selling out, I expected Ness to go minutes after.

Lmao the guy was talking about himself.
Jigglypuff just went back up for order...
...and sold out in about one minute.
Why do they even bother doing retailer exclusives if they aren't going to have anywhere near enough stock? How many times will it take until they learn that this'll just create more unhappy customers than happy?
Store exclusivity wouldn't matter terribly if they would just stock their fucking products.
Great, Robin seems to be the next Dedede in the sense that he's impossible to find at any outlet for no apparent reason, despite the fact he's not exclusive. They just decide to produce far below the demand
DID YOU NOT SEE THE PRICETAGS FOR LAST WAVE NINTENDO? DO YOU LEARN? WHAT KIND OF COMPANY REWARDS SCALPING LIKE THIS?
Nintendo's amiibo plans: fuck stocking them and fuck you
the port strike ended, yeah? so what's the fucking excuse this time
I would guess they severely underestimated the number of people who would want these 'niche' amiibos, as has been previously stated.
We never run out of Link and Mario amiibos, despite the fact that they're the best selling.
But literally everyone is talking about how much they want these. you'd think 4 waves in they'd pick up on the fact that yes, people actually want to give Nintendo their money for this shit. Nintendo of America might actually be run by morons?
They're going by the sales numbers of the respective games during a chosen period, which gives them a decent idea of how popular those characters will be.
Downside is that this method is prone to crippling perceptive failure, since some games like Xenoblade hit their stride well after release, but they saw weak initial numbers, so they sharply limited relevant amiibo (like Shulk) because they assume only roughly that number of people will buy them.

A reminder this is wave 4. Sure wave 1 was fine, but they had 2 waves to figure out "hey, maybe these Amiibos are in much higher demand than we expected." There's no excuse for them to be pulling this shit after wave 3.
