My theory is that they're going to just rerun characters that are rare instead of stocking more initially.
If they just make more upfront, maybe 10% of that extra will be bought by fans, with the other 90 going to people looking to spin them on the internet for profit. If they stagger a second round, they not only give fans a second chance to get what they want, but they indirectly hurt the scalpers that preyed upon the first, making their precious "SUPER RARE IN US - LIMITED - EXCLUSIVE" hoard seem like a waste, both in time and finances.

Wave 4 was on preorder at Toys R Us for a whole 3 minutes and sold out. I managed to snag Lucina and Robin though.

So the preorders were supposed to go up around 7-9 am tomorrow my time, and my brother wakes me up at 3:30 am telling me they are up. I managed to get a Greninja, he and the others are all gone now.
Can't wait for when the go on sale for 90 seconds 2 months from now.
And Greninja's amiibo looks REALLY nice.
Whoever's managing the production of Amiibos and how many of each Amiibo should be produced needs to be fired because they must have failed high school economics.

God damn the only ones that look nice are Pac and Wario. The rest look off in one way or another. Maybe Lucina would look better if they had a less crap angle of her, but considering the quality of the other Fire Emblem amiibos I wouldn't hold my breath.

i saw a post on /r/amiibo about some guy who got a ticket for checking stock, while driving, on his phone, at TRU, and he got pissed at TRU. other people were just absolutely LIVID cause nintendo posted an ad about amiibo on their twitter, not once mentioning commons (they mentioned fucking SMB yoshi for christs sake, not curbstomping ness)
i mean, we're at the point where a majority of the people in this whole craze have become just as fanatic as social media comments, i.e.

Pre-ordered Ike and never got him. Ordered him the 21st of December, expected mid-February, got an email on the 24th of February basically saying "We received notification today from Nintendo that they are unable to provide us with inventory by the projected release date. Due to the high demand of this item, we currently do not have an estimated date to fulfill your pre-order." Canceled my pre-order on April 2nd.
So yeah, pretty terrible.

My brother bought me a lot of the last wave from them for xmas. Never came, they ended up canceling his whole order. This is after we waited until March or something.
Looks like Amazon Canada has Pac-Man and the Inklings available right now.
