I live in Hong Kong, turns out we don't have the rare amiibo problem here. All the packaged Amiibos are from one store and they had at least 4 extras of each one
I wonder why only america has this Amiibo scarcity problem
Nintendo of America didn't secure enough to send out. What I heard is that Nintendo of Europe got a majority of it.
We never got our shipment of Amiibos at where I work.
People keep calling and some kids came by to waited for our shipment come in.
This is nuts.

Gosh darn Europe, stealing amiibos for themselves
I haven't been able to find Amiibo's at all in my local store.
Are they available in Australia at all, yet?

I kinda want to 3D Print my own Mii Gunner Amiibo
The Great American Amiibo Shortage of 2014/2015. Pre-order or its all over....for your chances of getting your favorite character that is.

The continental US has a higher concentration of greedy people than any other distribution region, apparently. There are seriously people driving store to store, even state to state, buying up hundreds in a day.
I'm genuinely worried I won't be able to get Charizard or Bowser Jr for under $50 apiece with the way things are going. Here's hoping they're common, unpopular, or the craze dies down some before they're out.
My Villager Amiibo has finally shipped. Now time to sit here and wait till it gets here...in about a month. :v:

It's funny, these things were meant for kids so they could unlock stuff in their games, and people are turning it into a huge business to make as much money as possible.

See: Skylanders
Nintendo should start allowing stuff to be bought from their website. Run out of stock? No problem we'll have it back in stock in a few days. No need to deal with Target or Gamestop when you can get it directly from Nintendo.
And put limits on how many one can buy.
Maybe like two of one specific amiibo per address and/or Card Number.

Can't wait for all the other countries to run out of Amiibos, what with people buying up foreign stock. I got my Pit from Japan. I just hope that the Italian Amazon fulfills my Rosalina pre-order.
See: Skylanders
Difference between Skylanders and Amiibo is that Activision knows their market and has no trouble cranking out hundreds to thousands more of the figures. I don't really know the Skylanders market, but I see tons of the figures everywhere. "Exclusive/Rare/Gold/etc" editions are plentiful and very easy to find. Nintendo is probably going to discontinue the whole Amiibo market in the near future.

At my Target, Amiibos have a tiny section right next to the Wii U games. Skylanders and Disney Disney Infinity have isles dedicated to them.
Just bought my first amiibos. First I got Diddy Kong, which, according to Amazon, is supposed to come tomorrow. I'm psyched. I also preordered Dedede.
By the way--I know that once you feed equipment to an amiibo in Smash, the equipment is destroyed--but is there any way to erase the effects of the equipment afterwards? Or is it permanent?

Charizard I don't see being terribly hard. The answer though is when they're revealed go out and preorder them. You won't get gouged if you just preorder at gamestop or something.
I have 5 amiibos at the time of writing:
Pikachu
Mario
Donkey Kong
Villager
Luigi
I'm teetering on the fence about whether or not I want to try and collect all the amiibo. After assessing my funds, I'm starting to think I should just save myself the pain and only get my absolute favorite characters.
In trying to make a decision, I did a whole bunch of personal research to scope out the current amiibo market for sites that ship to the US. I figure I'm probably not going to put this data to use personally, so I should share it: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1M3TYF5nJzu4YpP7dOQs8TPhbB56wlZkTJmfbC21bDGw
I'm not likely to keep this updated, so consider it a snapshot of what is currently available today. At a glance, it should illustrate the relative rarity of each character in the US market.
holy shit, A+ man
you should stick to your favorites if capital is the issue, but thank you on behalf of all the hunters out there for your awesome work
I should clarify the specifics of that chart for anyone intending to use it seriously:
I only marked items being sold by the first-party company (aka Amazon or Best Buy themselves rather than a third-party) as green. Prices in USD for foreign sites are either taken from the on-site converter (like Amazon or Nin-Nin-Game have) or from Google, so they may not be 100% accurate to what you end up paying, as individual banks and PayPal can lag behind the day-to-day conversion rates.
Also, the ones marked "pickup" were available for store pickup in my area. It's probably different for your area. All the green ones are buyable online, though.

You're welcome!
My friend ordered me a WiiFitTrainer and Marth from Amazon.de so I guess I have all of 1-3 now :suicide:

Very nice, man. I have Wii Fit, Marth, and Villager sitting in my Amazon.de cart but I can't bring myself to pull the trigger yet. Still can't decide if I wanna go full collector mode on these.
If only Nintendo would be straight with us on discontinuations, I wouldn't have all this trepidation about whether these might become available and plentiful locally again.
I want a Mr. Game & Watch Amiibo.
I just want my fucking fox in stock already.

I don't remember that Seuss book.

Always get super jealous when I see custom amiibos. These are so good.
Anyone knows if the Amiibo is region-locked? It's impossible for me to try to find a Captain Falcon amiibo in the states, so if they're not locked, might as well wait for when I go back to Japan to get one from there.

They aren't region locked. The only difference is the packaging which who cares unless you're one of those creepy dudes.
Okay, I just got my Diddy Kong amiibo to level 50. Does anyone know if amiibos continue to "learn" from people they fight after they reach level 50?

They do. It's just not as substantial or apparent.
