Not that much. im British. the amiibo situation is kind of bare over here, last time i've seen amiibo physically, all they had was Peach and the other commons...now it's a single Diddy on a peg. guess to me; part of what boils down to amiibo is mostly the build/collectibility with the appeal of some characters.
MK and Zelda feels a bit more appeal/build based, whilst Sheik/Robin seems more collectible. probably should take a picture of the whole collection sometime; but cluttered.

Same thing with me. The grenninja I grabbed was a prereserved copy but the person who did prereserve it hadn't come in yet, even though it was only 2 hours later, so they just let me have it. It is kinda of a low time frame for them to it give up but whatever, I got me a grenninja.

I don't get it how Amiibos got to this point where people go to enormous lengths to destroy/steal stocks of them and end up ruining others fun.
And why would anyone destroy such an adorable fluffy yarn ball of innocence? Even hundreds of them!
It could be what's known to some as "bonfiring", where in an attempt to increase the price of something, a person or group destroys a large number of them to reduce the total amount in existence.
This rarely works however, as it ignores the fundamental balance of supply and demand; if you reduce supply without increasing demand, the value won't change, it will just be harder to find the item for people who want it.

so my friend tells me there's insider rumors going around that nintendo is deliberately withholding stock on amiibo and that's why we haven't really seen any kind of improvement despite every excuse falling short? can anyone clarify on this?

It makes sense since Nintendo kept saying at first that it was the retailers fault for not wanting the extra shelf space for Amiibos, which hasn't held up. Don't think there is any evidence for the 'rumour' though.

I heard that's what they did with the Wii, but I don't think there's any confirmation they're doing that with amiibo, more of a "he said, she said" situation between Nintendo and stores.

The only possible hint that this might be true is due to the fact that the Nintendo World Store is somehow magically getting run 1 villagers and merths in still.
It's probably just frustration talking though

Robin and Luigi came today. looking pretty nice. have to say though, Robin's head looks really tiny, but the overcoat is pretty articulated. there's even printings on the book itself.

Well I manage to get my hand on the Splatoon 3-Pack, a Greninja and a Jiglypuff when I when to Sydney this lweeked. I'll say, Greninja and the Inkling looks really good.
Hopefully when I get back to Japan, I'll get Ganondorf, Dark Pit, Palutena and Zero Suit Samus since it's already released over there. Kinda wish the Gold Mario wasn't Wal-Mart exclusive.
My older sister gave me some money and a villager amiibo as a graduation present.
