Japanese box villager amiibo are only 26 dollars on amazon, which is where he got the price from. He also tried saying that the amiibo were region locked so it may just be he doesn't know what he's talking about.
I looked on ebay and japanese villagers were the same price as I got it for.
Either way he knew what he was doing. If he insisted the difference was that significant (and even lied about the region locking), he was absolutely in the know, and looking for stupid-easy profit.
I just don't know what to do with it. I might just ship it back for a partial refund, if I knew anything about customizing amiibo i'd customize it to look like one of the ingame girl villager skins and give it to the missus but that'd kinda off the table.
Maybe a Facepuncher would like it. Hold onto it for a bit and see if anyone laments not being able to find one, you'll make their day.

It's slightly rare; at release people went crazy with hyping him as mega rare, so shelves have been fairly barren since release back in March of him.
I have yet to see a wave 4 amiibo on the shelf of any of the 5 stores I frequent after launch. Not even Pac or Charizard or Wario.
So ZSS came yesterday, Palutena/Ganondorf came the day before, weirdly they came in 3 boxes instead of together. guessing GAME didn't get all of them at once or something. there's still WFT/Zelda from Amazon though, got them before Nintendo Europe/GAME started to restock on amiibo like Shulk, Dedede & Little Mac. still though, a £10.99 Little Mac sounded far superior than a 14.99 one. EDIT: Amazon just delivered! (2 days earlier than anticipated)

guess they aren't rare anymore here

I only have the Toon Link amiibo I was gifted.
I wouldn't mind getting some other ones, like Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Samus, Link, Zelda, and maybe the typical Mario and Luigi.
I cant find Donkey Kongs anywhere though.. this stinks.

Not exactly rare, but I DID want Yoshi, and the SSB one just isn't up to snuff in its quality compared to this. It looks really good actually, I'm impressed.
Yeah, same goes the Toon Link one I got; I originally did a double take on it. Most folks say most of the amiibos aren't quite up to snuff but Toon Link looks great.
My only qualm with Toon Link is the fact paint defects on the left hand and the belt are common

The simpler the design, the harder it is to fuck up it seems. That's why all the Fire Emblem characters face's look like ass.
Toon Link looks so fucking good as Amiibo. Shame I can't find him anywhere and I sure dont want to pay 30 eu for him on Amazon
