Disappointed that it doesn't work with Mario Maker. That would have been perfect.

Maybe in a future update
Maybe someone might try digging around Mario Maker's files and checking if it has compatibility for future updates. Tingle is in the game, yet you could play as a spring and a goomba. but if the game was structured in a way that as to provide gaps, and Link/Zelda/Ganondorf/Shiek has space for the other Hyrule Warriors' characters+Tingle, everyone would be assuming that there would be a LoZ collection
Or maybe Tingle is there for the sudden devboner they have for Majora's Mask. even the Happy Mask Salesman mentioned for people waiting to see him in later games, which could just mean he's in HW3DS or he's on Zelda U. and why even stop there? there could even be Pokken/Pokemon Amiibo, Pokemon is an undoubtedly powerful franchise for Nintendo, in an age where the most common highest franchises for them in the west is either Mario or Zelda; pokemon is just more marketable.
I wouldn't think there would be large filesizes for updates if they're only sticking to 8bit sprites (w/possible soundbytes, maybe in-series). they probably jumped the gun slightly with Smash if people could already mimic stuff like G&W and DHD before the update...never heard of anyone doing Mewtwo?
My god it's actually happening
Does this mean shovel knight is winning smash?
Its very obviously not a smash-line amiibo, just because an amiibo exists doesn't mean that character is in smash.

Welp..[/QUOTE]
They locked Coop mode behind an amiibo
Looks nice though

Considering we're getting three Boss Campaigns for free, this doesn't seem so unreasonable.
Should've got someone better to advertise it than the Game Grumps
Oh look it's the game grumps
great
That was amazing
That was cringey

That channel is about two years past its best by date
[sp]I actually enjoyed it when JonTron was on board, and even a lot of early Dan, but once they started tacking on gimmick after gimmick and playing everything up like every other syndicated gaming channel eventually does, I lost interest really quickly.[/sp]
So what... Only GAME has the amiibo for sale? Or will it eventually be sold elsewhere?
Imagine if they got the Super Best Friends to advertise it?
They're not as big as the Grumps, but they're way tighter with Yacht Club. Hell, the only reason I even found out about Shovel Knight in the first place was from them ceaselessly hyping it in their videos and podcasts.
Alternatively, I want it. It's really slick looking and I dig that you can use it with multiple versions of the game.
Why can't NoA ever make something like this without it sounding forced? They sounded like they were just reading off cue cards. But I don't watch Game Grumps so I don't know if they always sound like that or not.
game grumps stopped trying long ago, everything they do is forced

That's usually the tone Game Grumps commercials have.
The actual show is all improv and whatnot, but when it's an ad, they go out of their way to make it sound like an ad.
My biggest problem is that they got people famous for swearing at video games while telling stories about smoking weed and describing what pussy tastes like to do a completely family-friendly commercial.
Like, some people can make this work, but it usually just comes off as ingenuous from both sides.
Just so you guys know, Yacht Club were the ones that got Game Grumps to do it.
Nintendo only uploaded it.

the recent super mario galaxy and link to the past series have been really good
Personally I started watching Gamegrumps again with their Sonic DX playthrough and I'm enjoying it, as well as their Galaxy playthrough. They've genuinely made laugh quite a lot of times.
I think it's cool they got this opportunity. Looking forward to getting my hands on that amiibo.
the whole point of the ad was supposed to be satirical of cue card ads
ffs at one point they dub over his non moving mouth with recorded audio
Greetings thread regulars, I come in peace.
Is bad that I'm surprised by these Amiibos' success? I heard even Nintendo themselves were.
At first glance they just seem so... retro & gimmicky. Collectibles with connectivity aren't a rare marketing idea.

I THINK I found the answer to this.

Mind you, Nintendo is perhaps the only company in existence with IP more widespread and more instantly recognizable than Disney
Also many, many characters were getting their very first appearance in a physical form, like Fox, Little Mac, Robin, Captain Falcon... A lot of people finally got their chance to have their favorite on a shelf.
That's honestly what I love about them.
It's the kinda thing that I would have loved having back in the late 90's/early 2000's, so the fact that they're actually getting pushed by Nintendo instead of stagnating like every peripheral on the Wii is pretty awesome.
I just want my Amiibo action game. Give us a Nintendo-made dungeon crawler, like Skylanders, but with some modicum of difficulty. THAT would be fucking awesome; imagine going over to a friend's house and everyone has their own unique Amiibo. You scan 'em in and everyone works together to fight bosses and solve puzzles and get loot. It'd be like DnD, but with Nintendo characters.
An amiibo-themed Mystery Dungeon game would be kind of amazing
Too bad people would slam it as "pay to play" like they did with that AC game, without even waiting to hear more information about it first
They posted a bunch of possibilities for the Shovel Knight amiibo, check it out.
